There are many prophecies found in the writings of the prophets and some in the book of Revelation. A few prophecies were written in the New Testament but only because they were parts of the true interpretations of the prophecies such as the day of the Lord prophecy Peter was used to write about.

2 Peter 3
1 This is now the second letter that I have written to you, beloved, and in both of them I have aroused your sincere mind by way of reminder;
2 that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles.
3 First of all you must understand this, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own passions
4 and saying, "Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things have continued as they were from the beginning of creation."
5 They deliberately ignore this fact, that by the word of God heavens existed long ago, and an earth formed out of water and by means of water,
6 through which the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished.
7 But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist have been stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
8 But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9 The Lord is not slow about his promise as some count slowness, but is forbearing toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fire, and the earth and the works that are upon it will be burned up.
11 Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of persons ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness,
12 waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be kindled and dissolved, and the elements will melt with fire!

There are many false interpretations about this prophecy because of Satan that keeps the mind confused and keeps a false prophet from understanding what is true or not. False prophets have never had to obey the Voice of God so it's impossible for them to understand any of the prophecies. They can read and study the Bible with all sorts of study aids, etc. but they will never succeed in understanding the prophecies. In order for them to look good, some of them who do try teach their interpretations of them are actually lying. This is the main reason why most false prophets stay away from teaching prophecies because they are clueless about them. They will only read from Psalms, Proverbs, and a few lines of some other prophetic writings as part of their service but when it comes down to trying to interpret the prophecies, they try avoid it. They would rather share stories about what they read in the New Testament instead. They certainly don't try interpret this prophetic writing by Saint Peter because in those words, the earth is burned up and so is heaven. This is actually a literal part of the story about what happens on the day of the Lord but to tell the whole story can be very scary to those who listen.

Here is another prophecy written by Saint John about the same day of the Lord that Saint Peter wrote about. This prophecy is written in symbolic writing so it's not easy to understand that it's about the same exact day of the Lord that Saint Peter wrote about.

Revelation 18
1: After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority; and the earth was made bright with his splendor.
2: And he called out with a mighty voice, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! It has become a dwelling place of demons, a haunt of every foul spirit, a haunt of every foul and hateful bird;
3: for all nations have drunk the wine of her impure passion, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have grown rich with the wealth of her wantonness."
4: Then I heard another voice from heaven saying, "Come out of her, my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues;
5: for her sins are heaped high as heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.
6: Render to her as she herself has rendered, and repay her double for her deeds; mix a double draught for her in the cup she mixed.
7: As she glorified herself and played the wanton, so give her a like measure of torment and mourning. Since in her heart she says, `A queen I sit, I am no widow, mourning I shall never see,'
8: so shall her plagues come in a single day, pestilence and mourning and famine, and she shall be burned with fire; for mighty is the Lord God who judges her.
9: And the kings of the earth, who committed fornication and were wanton with her, will weep and wail over her when they see the smoke of her burning;
10: they will stand far off, in fear of her torment, and say, "Alas! alas! thou great city, thou mighty city, Babylon! In one hour has thy judgment come."
11: And the merchants of the earth weep and mourn for her, since no one buys their cargo any more,
12: cargo of gold, silver, jewels and pearls, fine linen, purple, silk and scarlet, all kinds of scented wood, all articles of ivory, all articles of costly wood, bronze, iron and marble,
13: cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, frankincense, wine, oil, fine flour and wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and slaves, that is, human souls.
14: "The fruit for which thy soul longed has gone from thee, and all thy dainties and thy splendor are lost to thee, never to be found again!"
15: The merchants of these wares, who gained wealth from her, will stand far off, in fear of her torment, weeping and mourning aloud,
16: "Alas, alas, for the great city that was clothed in fine linen, in purple and scarlet, bedecked with gold, with jewels, and with pearls!
17: In one hour all this wealth has been laid waste." And all shipmasters and seafaring men, sailors and all whose trade is on the sea, stood far off
18: and cried out as they saw the smoke of her burning, "What city was like the great city?"
19: And they threw dust on their heads, as they wept and mourned, crying out, "Alas, alas, for the great city where all who had ships at sea grew rich by her wealth! In one hour she has been laid waste.
20: Rejoice over her, O heaven, O saints and apostles and prophets, for God has given judgment for you against her!"
21: Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, "So shall Babylon the great city be thrown down with violence, and shall be found no more;
22: and the sound of harpers and minstrels, of flute players and trumpeters, shall be heard in thee no more; and a craftsman of any craft shall be found in thee no more; and the sound of the millstone shall be heard in thee no more;
23: and the light of a lamp shall shine in thee no more; and the voice of bridegroom and bride shall be heard in thee no more; for thy merchants were the great men of the earth, and all nations were deceived by thy sorcery.
24: And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints, and of all who have been slain on earth."

Here is another prophecy about the day of the Lord that Daniel wrote about. This is about the Beast being destroyed on the day of the Lord which teaches human hands how to build false gods out of earthen materials such as gold, silver, bronze and iron but also all the other types of earthen materials found in the Earth. Everything that human hands built will be burned up on Earth, too.

Daniel 2:
36: "This was the dream; now we will tell the king its interpretation.
37: You, O king, the king of kings, to whom the God of heaven has given the kingdom, the power, and the might, and the glory,
38: and into whose hand he has given, wherever they dwell, the sons of men, the beasts of the field, and the birds of the air, making you rule over them all -- you are the head of gold.
39: After you shall arise another kingdom inferior to you, and yet a third kingdom of bronze, which shall rule over all the earth.
40: And there shall be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron, because iron breaks to pieces and shatters all things; and like iron which crushes, it shall break and crush all these.
41: And as you saw the feet and toes partly of potter's clay and partly of iron, it shall be a divided kingdom; but some of the firmness of iron shall be in it, just as you saw iron mixed with the miry clay.
42: And as the toes of the feet were partly iron and partly clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly brittle.
43: As you saw the iron mixed with miry clay, so they will mix with one another in marriage, but they will not hold together, just as iron does not mix with clay.
44: And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed, nor shall its sovereignty be left to another people. It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand for ever;
45: just as you saw that a stone was cut from a mountain by no human hand, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold. A great God has made known to the king what shall be hereafter. The dream is certain, and its interpretation sure."

There's just one thing I don't believe many people pay attention to. The entire world is not cast into the lake of fire at the same time.

The beast with seven heads and tens horns are cast into the lake of fire first.

https://biblehub.com/niv/daniel/7-11.htm

The other kingdoms are not destroyed at that time.

https://biblehub.com/niv/daniel/7-12.htm

According to revelation, the period of time between the war of Armegeddon when the beast is cast into the lake of fire and when Gog invades Israel and is then destroy is 1000 years. It is after that that the earth passes away and then a new earth is formed.

I myself live in one of the other kingdoms. I expect to see the beast with seven heads and ten horns destroyed in a few years from now. Babylon is that great city that sits on seven hills. The one the beast fights over.

      The connection of the “heavens” with ruling power aids in understanding the meaning of the expression “new heavens and a new earth” found at Isaiah 65:17; 66:22 and quoted by the apostle Peter at 2 Peter 3:13.  Observing such relationship, M’Clintock and Strong’s Cyclopaedia (1891, Vol. IV, p. 122) comments: “In Isa. lxv, 17, a new heaven and a new earth signify a new government, new kingdom, new people.”

     In the Bible, “earth” does not always refer to our globe.  For instance, Psalm 96:1 says literally: “Sing to Jehovah, all the earth.”  We know that our planet-the terra firma and the vast oceans-cannot sing.  People sing.  Yes, Psalm 96:1 is referring to the people on the earth.  If “heavens” can symbolize the superior ruling power or government so, to “earth.” represents a new society of people.

     This prophecy was dealing initially with the restoration of Israel from Babylonian exile.  Upon the Israelites’ return to their homeland, they entered into a new system of things.  Cyrus the Great was used prominently by God in bringing about that restoration.   Back in Jerusalem, Zerubbabel (a descendant of David) served as governor, and Joshua as high priest.  In harmony with Jehovah’s purpose, this new governmental arrangement, or “new heavens,” directed and supervised the subject people.-2 Chronicles 36:23; Haggai 1:1, 14.

     John’s vision refers to the passing away of “the former heaven and the former earth.” (Revelation 21:1; compare Isaiah 57:20; Revelation 20:11.)  In the Christian Greek Scriptures, earthly governments and their peoples are shown to be subject to Satanic rule. (Matthew 4:8, 9; John 12:31; 2 Corinthians 4:3, 4; Revelation 12:9; 16:13, 14)  The apostle Paul referred to “the wicked spirit forces in the heavenly places,” with their governments, authorities, and world rulers. (Ephesians 6:12)  So the passing away of “the former heaven” indicates the end of political governments along with Satan and his demons.  This identification of “the former heaven” harmonizes with the fact that shortly before the statement concerning the “former heaven having passed away,” John had seen a vision of the complete defeat of Satan’s forces and the casting of Satan into “the abyss.”-Revelation 19:19-20:3.

     As for the new earth, following the pattern of the ancient fulfillment, the new earth will be made up of people-from all nationalities, languages, and races-who gladly submit to the rulership of the new heavenly government.  After the passing of the present wicked system of things, this group will form the nucleus of a new earth that will eventually be a globe-encircling society of God-fearing humans who inherit the earthly realm of God’s Kingdom.-Matthew 25:34.

Interesting thoughts Markie51,

Personally, I take scripture literally. The entire cosmos [universe] has been corrupted by sin and must be cleansed. The Lord stretched out the heavens: Isaiah 45:12 (KJV) I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.

How are we to interpret the following scripture?

Isaiah 34:4 (KJV) And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.

Revelation 6:14 (KJV) And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

2 Peter 3:10 (KJV) But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

2 Peter 3:12 (KJV) Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Shabbat shalom, Dennis1209.

There's "literal" and then there's "literal." Some people take these Scriptures to mean "the entire cosmos [universe]" but that's NOT what "heaven" and "earth" mean. The "heaven" is the "sky." It's the ATMOSPHERE surrounding our planet, and at most refers to what we see THROUGH the atmosphere. The "earth" is just what the word means; it's not the "planet," it's the DIRT, the SOIL, the LAND, and at most, the ENTIRE SURFACE of the earth!

Back in Genesis 1, God had formed an expanse of gases between the waters above the expanse and the waters below the expanse, and called it the "sky":

Genesis 1:6-8 (KJV)

6 And God said,

"Let there be a firmament (expanse, Hebrew raqiya`) in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters."

7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. 8 And God called the firmament (expanse of gases) "Heaven." And the evening and the morning were the second day.

That word "Heaven" was translated from the Hebrew word "shaamayim," which literally means "skies" (dual number):

8064 shaamayim (shaw-mah'-yim). Dual of an unused singular shaameh {shaw-meh'}; from an unused root meaning to be lofty; the sky (as aloft; the dual perhaps alluding to the visible arch in which the clouds move, as well as to the higher ether where the celestial bodies revolve)
-- air, X astrologer, heaven(-s).

God had also formed the dry ground and called it "earth":

Genesis 1:9-10 (KJV)

9 And God said,

"Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear":

and it was so. 10 And God called the dry land, "Earth"; and the gathering together of the waters called he "Seas": and God saw that it was good.

That word "Earth" was translated from the Hebrew word "erets," which literally means "ground" or "land":

776 erets (eh'-rets). From an unused root probably meaning to be firm; the earth (at large, or partitively a land)
-- X common, country, earth, field, ground, land, X nations, way, + wilderness, world.

It's important that you understand the LIMITED WAY in which these words were used. Think about a farming and ranching culture. The words are going to refer to what the farmers and ranchers could see and experience! Avraham (Abraham) was a Bedouin! He was a rancher, following his herds as they ranged the land and ate the grasses they could find along the way. He lived in tents with his son Yitschaq (Isaac) and grandchildren Esav (Esau) and Ya`aqov (Jacob) and their families.

Be very careful NOT to universalize and magnify these words to grandiose sizes! "Heaven" does NOT mean the "Universe!" It also does NOT mean the "immaterial," as opposed to "earth," meaning the "material!" These concepts are FAR too nebulous!

James Swanson, Dictionary of Biblical Languages with Semantic Domains: Greek (New Testament) (Oak Harbor: Logos Research Systems, Inc., 1997).

And, the Greek words "ouranos" (spelled "omicron-upsilon-rho-alpha-nu-omicron-sigma" and pronounced "oo-ran-os'"), also meaning "sky," and "gee" (spelled "gamma-eta" and pronounced "gay"), meaning "land," were used to translate "shaamayim" and "erets" into Greek. Furthermore, the word "ouranos" (singular) was given its plural form, "ouranoi," in 2 Peter 3:10 and 12, although it was left in the singular in Revelation 6:14.

So, let's substitute a few words to get a more tangible, realistic, and limited perspective on these verses:

Isaiah 34:4 (KJV) And all the armies of the skies shall be dissolved, and the skies shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their armies shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.

Revelation 6:14 (KJV) And the sky departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

2 Peter 3:10 (KJV) But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the skies shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the land also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

2 Peter 3:12 (KJV) Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the skies being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

See. the truth in these verses is that this LAND and the SKIES above it shall undergo a Fire that will remove the works of men upon this land. It's not the "entire Universe" that undergoes this change, just the SURFACE of our planet, and perhaps not the ENTIRE surface, at that! Even the planet we live upon survives, even though the Fire will surely erase the human landmarks!

We have other Scriptures, as well:

Ecclesiastes 1:4 (KJV)

4 One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but THE EARTH ABIDETH FOR EVER.

Psalm 89:20-37 (KJV)

20 I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:
21 With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him.
22 The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him.
23 And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him.
24 But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted.
25 I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers.
26 He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.
27 Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.
28 My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.
29 His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.
30 If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;
31 If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;
32 Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.
33 Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.
34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
35 Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David.
36 His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne AS THE SUN before me.
37 It shall be established for ever AS THE MOON, and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah.

Psalm 104:1-5 (KJV)

1 Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.
2 Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:
3 Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:
4 Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:
5 Who laid the foundations of the earth, that IT (THE EARTH) SHOULD NOT BE REMOVED FOR EVER.

Isaiah 66:22-23 (KJV)

22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

New moons are determined by both the position of the observer on the earth and the position of the moon in relation to the sun. A Sabbath (Shabbat) is determined by the seventh day, and a day is defined as the rotation of the earth in relation to the sun. Thus, all three objects - the sun, the earth, and the moon - must exist into eternity!

One must read on in 2 Peter 3:

2 Peter 3:13 (KJV)

13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens (skies) and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

John told us the same thing:

Revelation 20:7-21:1 (KJV)

7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth (land), and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven (out of the sky), and devoured them. 10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

1 And I saw a new heaven (sky) and a new earth (land): for the first heaven (sky) and the first earth (land) were passed away; and there was no more sea.

I definitely see your point and understand your interpretations. I believe it can all be boiled down to the proper context and meaning of one word, "heaven." It seems pretty obvious in the verse below, having the "earth" included and singled out with the heavens [the rest of the universe].

2 Peter 3:10 (KJV) But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Heaven: 4041 οὐρανός (ouranos), οῦ (ou), ὁ (ho): n.masc.; ≡ DBLHebr 9028; Str 3772; TDNT 5.497—1. LN 1.5 sky (Mt 16:2, 3); 2. LN 1.11 heaven, abode of God (Mt 18:10; Mk 16:19 v.r.; Lk 22:43 v.r.); 3. LN 12.16 God, (Lk 15:18, 21); 4. LN 1.3 ὁ οὐρανὸς καὶ ἡ γῆ (ho ouranos kai hē gē), universe (Mt 11:25); 5. LN 1.43 ὑπὸ τὸν οὐρανόν (hypo ton ouranon), on earth; 6. LN 4.41 πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ (peteina tou ouranou), wild birds (Mt 6:26; 8:20; 13:32; Mk 4:32; Lk 8:5; 9:58; 13:19; Ac 10:12; 11:6+); 7. LN 12.45 στρατιὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ (stratia tou ouranou), supernatural powers (Ac 7:42; Rev 19:14+); 8. LN 1.11 τρίτος οὐρανός (tritos ouranos), heaven, the abode of God (2Co 12:2+); 9. LN 59.66 κολλάομαι ἄχρι τοῦ οὐρανοῦ (kollaomai achri tou ouranou), increase greatly, formally, piled to heaven (Rev 18:5+)

I also believe the earth is going to be sanitized by fervent heat. It will not evaporate or be annihilated, it will be our eternal home. As you point out and rightly believe, it can be the sky [our atmosphere]. Consider the following:

Both of our lexicon's agree on the word meanings. But, what is the correct context to use? I choose #4 above for a number of reasons:

Let me ask you these questions? Who sinned first, Satan or Adam, with the Devil being the father of deceit and lies? Is Satan and his minions confined only to the earth, or are they free to travel the entire created universe, to include God's domain, Heaven? In other words, is sin and its effects confined only to the earth?

Romans 8:22 (KJV) For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

Where did this groaning, waiting and pain originate from the beginning? Did Adam & Eve's sin transcend our atmosphere? Is the "whole creation" the earth and sky alone, no. Therefore, I maintain the whole creation [the entire universe], is influenced and contaminated by Satan and sin. So, in my studies and opinion, the context must be #4, the entire universe.

If the above is accurate, why purify the "earth" alone; while we're still surrounded by sin?

Just my viewpoint anyway...

Indeed. If we long for having deep ken of the Holy Scripture, we need to do like a miner: peruse the Holy Scripture deeply until we find the "golden teaching" of the Creator left for us (see Prov 2:3-5; 3:13-15).

Shalom, Dennis1209.

One must simply look at ALL the words in the Greek text of this verse:

Petrou B 3:10

10 Heexei de heemera kuriou hoos kleptees, en hee hoi ouranoi hrouzeedon pareleusontai, stoicheia de kausoumena lutheesetai, kai gee kai ta en autee erga [ouch] heuretheesetai.

10 Heexei = will-come
de = But; However
heemera = a-day
kuriou = of-[the]-Lord
hoos = like/as
kleptees, = a-thief,
en = in
hee = which
hoi = the
ouranoi = skies
hrouzeedon = with-a-roar
pareleusontai, = shall-come-to/shall-pass-by/shall-pass-away/shall-pass-out-of-sight,
stoicheia = [the]-elements
de = but
kausoumena = burning-with-heat
lutheesetai, = will-be-dissolved,
kai = and
gee = earth/land/field/soil
kai = and/also
ta = the
en = in
autee = it
erga = works
[ouch] = not
heuretheesetai. = will-be-found.

10 will-come But; However a-day of-[the]-Lord like/as a-thief, in which the skies with-a-roar shall-come-to/shall-pass-by/shall-pass-away/shall-pass-out-of-sight, [the]-elements but burning-with-heat will-be-dissolved, and earth/land/field/soil and/also the in it works not will-be-found.

Rearranging for English:

10 But, a day of [the] Lord will come like a thief, in which the skies shall pass by with a roar, but the elements will be dissolved with heat, and the earth also; the works in it will not be found.

That word "pareleusontai" is RICH with meaning! It LITERALLY means that the atmosphere will COME, PASS BY, and PASS OUT OF SIGHT! It's not that it "passes away," as one would say, meaning it is simply "destroyed," as some versions read, but it means that it will RUSH BY from the point of the event! And, it will RUSH BY WITH A ROAR!

("Ouranoi," which means the "skies," is STILL not the "Universe!")

Have you ever considered that EACH of these phrases used for other meanings can be phrases about the "SKY?"

Let's look closer at the first meaning. Look at what the Pharisees and Sadducees were trying to get out of Yeshua` ("Jesus") and how Yeshua` answered:

Matthew 16:1-4 (KJV)

1 The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from HEAVEN
2 He answered and said unto them,

"When it is evening, ye say, 'It will be fair weather': for the SKY is red. 3 And in the morning, 'It will be foul weather to day': for the SKY is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the SKY; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? 4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas!"

And he left them, and departed.

Again, let's look at the Greek:

Kata Maththaion 16:1-4

Can you see how they asked for a "sign from the sky" (a "sign from heaven"), and He gave them the WEATHER SIGNS, "signs from the sky?" "Red sky at night is a sailor's delight; red sky at morning, sailors take warning!" Then, He reminded them of the sign He had ALREADY GIVEN THEM (Matthew 12:38-41), the sign of the prophet Jonah!

The Pharisees and Sadducees were looking for a sign from "heaven"; He gave them signs from the "SKY!" BOTH instances, indeed, all FOUR uses of the word are about the "SKY!"

The second meaning calls on the "abode of God," but isn't God OMNIPRESENT?! There is NO "abode of God," per se! Remember Solomon's words:

1 Kings 8:27 (KJV)

27 "But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?"

The third meaning is a typical way that Jews would avoid saying the Name of God, referring to the "SKY," which cannot contain Him.

The fourth meaning is too nebulous! too general! too extravagant! Here's the verse that was used to support that meaning:

Matthew 11:25 (KJV)

25 At that time Jesus answered and said,

"I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven (the sky) and earth (the land), because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes."

However, the phrase "Lord of heaven and earth," or "Kurie tou ouranou kai tees gees" in Greek, is still all-encompassing for the Creation of Genesis 1 and 2. "Lord of the Sky and of the Land" can mean the entire planet and its atmosphere, which still encompasses all of humanity and all animal life as well as everything else He created in the six days of Creation. And, like all the kosmos (which in Greek means "human government and the inhabited world"), "Universe" doesn't have to mean what "cosmos" means today! Someone has EXPANDED both words purposely to include what we "know" today! The words "kosmos" and "universe" don't mean today what they meant just 300 years ago!

The fifth meaning adds the Greek word "hupo" meaning "under" or "below"; so, "hupo ton ouranon" just means "under the sky."

The sixth meaning just adds the word "peteina" meaning "birds"; so, "peteina tou ouranou" means "birds of the sky." This INCLUDES "wild birds," but is NOT LIMITED to "wild birds!"

The seventh meaning adds the word "stratia" meaning "armies." Thus, "stratia tou ouranou" means "armies of the sky": This can mean HUMAN "armies of the sky" as in a prophetic look at "air forces," or "human forces that come down the hills" as it does in Revelation 19:14. It can also refer to the "sun, moon, planets, and stars" as objects of worship, which is what the phrase is talking about in Acts 7:42, and it can refer to "the birds," particularly "the carrion birds" or "birds of prey," as it includes in Revelation 19:17-21.

The eighth meaning adds the ordinal number "tritos" meaning "third." And, this is indeed found in 2 Corinthians 12:2:

2 Corinthians 12:1-4 (KJV)

1 It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. 2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. 3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) 4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

Many believe that Paul was speaking of himself when he received a prophecy (visions and revelations). HOWEVER, there's a BETTER, BIBLICAL explanation for a "third heaven!"

2 Peter 3:3-13 (KJV)

3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4 And saying,

"Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation!"

5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack (lazy) concerning his promise, as some men count slackness (reckon laziness); but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

11Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Peter gave us ...

first heavens and earth = the antediluvian earth and sky (the world before the Flood)
the FLOOD of Noach's day
second heavens and earth = the earth and sky now (the world after the Flood and before the Fire)
the FIRE just prior to the Great White Throne Judgment, the day of judgment and perdition (sentencing) of ungodly men
THIRD HEAVENS and earth = new earth and sky wherein dwells righteousness (the world after the Fire)

It's not a "third heaven" spatially, that is, as is written on page 1238 in the old Scofield Reference Bible, "d First heaven, of clouds; second, of stars; third, God's abode," but a "third heaven" CHRONOLOGICALLY, that is, a third in TIME! Thus, all three "heavens'" are still the "sky," just at different points on the timeline. By Peter's explanation, we're currently IN (or UNDER) the "second heaven," the "second sky."

The ninth meaning adds the two words "kollaomai achri," meaning "" and pointing to Revelation 18:5:

Revelation 18:1-8 (KJV)

1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. 2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying,

"Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. 3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies."

4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying,

"Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. 5 For her sins have reached unto heaven (Greek: ekkalleetheesan autees hai hamartiai achri tou ouranou = "have-been-heaped of-her the sins as-high-as the sky" or "her sins have been heaped as high as the sky"), and God hath remembered her iniquities. 6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double. 7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, 'I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.' 8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her."

In ALL of these "definitions," these "meanings," the word "ouranos" can still simply mean the "sky."

I also believe the earth is going to be sanitized by fervent heat. It will not evaporate or be annihilated, it will be our eternal home. As you point out and rightly believe, it can be the sky [our atmosphere].

Right!

Consider the following:

Both of our lexicon's agree on the word meanings. But, what is the correct context to use? I choose #4 above for a number of reasons:

Let me ask you these questions? Who sinned first, Satan or Adam, with the Devil being the father of deceit and lies?

Obviously, haSatan (Hebrew for "the Enemy") led Chavah ("Eve") and Adam into sin; therefore, haSatan "sinned" first, according to our perspective. However, at the time, "sin" had only been defined as the disobedience to God in the matter of eating the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

The Enemy, haSatan, was defined in Revelation 12 as ...

Revelation 12:7-9 (KJV)

7 And there was war in heaven (in the sky): Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels (Greek: aggeloi = "messengers"), 8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven (in the sky). 9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels (Greek: aggeloi = "messengers") were cast out with him.

He is the "great dragon" (Greek: ho drakoon ho megas = "the lizard/reptile the huge");
he is that "old serpent" (Greek: ho ophis ho archaios = "the snake the original");
he is the "Devil" (Greek: ho Diabolos = "the Slanderer"); and
he is "Satan" (Greek: ho Satanas = Hebrew: haSatan = "the Enemy).

Note this: the "huge lizard" IS the "original snake!" He is called both "the Slanderer," and "the Enemy!" Was he an "angel," OR was he "the original snake" whose spirit (attitude; words) is still in the world? Don't go by Isaiah 14 or Ezekiel 28! BOTH of these passages are said to be about MEN! Theologians have misapplied these passages to try to explain the origin of haSatan, but his origin is simple: God created him on the sixth day, along with all the other land animals! We can only read THIS about him:

Genesis 1:24-31 (KJV)

24 And God said,

"Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind":

and it was so. 25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

26 And God said,

"Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth."

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them,

"Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."

29 And God said,

"Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. 30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat":

and it was so. 31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Genesis 3:1-5 (KJV)

1 Now the serpent was more subtil (Hebrew: `aaruwm = "cunning; crafty; shrewd; sensible") than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman,

"Yea, hath God said, 'Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?"

2 And the woman (Hebrew: haa'ishaah = the feminine form of "iysh" meaning "man" with the definite-article prefix) said unto the serpent,

"We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, 'Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.'"

4 And the serpent said unto the woman,

"Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods (Hebrew: kee'lohiym = "like God"), knowing good and evil."

So, the original snake was "cunning; crafty; shrewd; sensible." We might say "sophisticated" today, and he was a liar. When, he was cursed, we read:

Genesis 3:14-15 (KJV)

14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent,

"Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: 15 And I will put enmity (Hebrew: eeVaah = "hostility") between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."

There ARE a few legitimate Scriptures that give us more information about him.

When the "Angel of the LORD" (Hebrew: mal'akh YHWH = "messenger of Yah") stands in the path of Balaam's donkey, he is called an "adversary," which is the Hebrew word "satan" with the "l-" prefix meaning "to" or "for." Thus, this Angel of the LORD was standing in the way "for an adversary" (Hebrew: lsatan) to Balaam's progress. (Numbers 22:22, 32)

Is Satan and his minions confined only to the earth, or are they free to travel the entire created universe, to include God's domain, Heaven? In other words, is sin and its effects confined only to the earth?

If haSatan is a messenger of God, a mal'akh YHWH or an aggelos, an "angel," for evil and opposition, then...

Hebrews 1:13, 14 (KJV)

13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, "Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?" 14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

 No, they are NOT "free to travel the entire created universe, to include God's [false] domain, Heaven"! God's Creation of Genesis 1 and 2 is NOT of the "ENTIRE CREATED UNIVERSE!" This is because "In the beginning God created the heavens (the skies) and the earth (the Land)!" The Hebrew sentence is "B'reeshiyt baaraa' Elohiym et haashamaayim v'et haa'aarets." This is a SUMMARY of what is to follow! (That's common in Hebrew literature.) Both "shaamayim" (skies) and "erets" (earth) (without the definite articles) are named so by God within the verses to follow:

Genesis 1:6-13 (KJV)

6 And God said,

"Let there be a firmament (Hebrew: raqiya` = expanse) in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters."

7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. 8 And God called the firmament "Heaven" (Hebrew: shaamayim = "skies") And the evening and the morning were the second day.

9 And God said,

"Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear":

and it was so. 10 And God called the dry land "Earth" (Hebrew: erets = "land"); and the gathering together of the waters called he "Seas": and God saw that it was good. 11 And God said,

"Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth":

and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

Romans 8:22 (KJV) For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

Where did this groaning, waiting and pain originate from the beginning? Did Adam & Eve's sin transcend our atmosphere?

No. Not until mankind went beyond the atmosphere into space, even to landing upon the moon.

On 8/7/2021 at 12:03 PM, Dennis1209 said:

Is the "whole creation" the earth and sky alone, no.

YES! Even the sun and moon weren't so called in Genesis 1! They were "two GREAT LIGHTS (Hebrew: hamm'orot hagdoliym = "the-lights the-great")! The greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night!" Then, almost as an afterthought, the Scripture says, "He made the stars (Hebrew: hakowkaaviym = "the-round-objects") also." God created the LIGHTS "in the firmament of heaven," in the expanse called "skies." THEN, He made the sources of those lights!

That's your viewpoint; however, much of that viewpoint is based upon how you WANT to see it. It's not supported by the Hebrew text.

the land also and the works that are therein shall be burned up...
Looking for and hastening unto the coming of the day of God,
wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved...

Nevertheless we, according to His promise [Isaiah 65:17]
look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwells righteousness.

And I saw a new sky and land,
for the first sky and land had past away
and there was no more sea.

There are many prophecies found in the writings of the prophets and some in the book of Revelation. A few prophecies were written in the New Testament but only because they were parts of the true interpretations of the prophecies such as the day of the Lord prophecy Peter was used to write about.

2 Peter 3
1 This is now the second letter that I have written to you, beloved, and in both of them I have aroused your sincere mind by way of reminder;

2: And he called out with a mighty voice, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! It has become a dwelling place of demons, a haunt of every foul spirit, a haunt of every foul and hateful bird;
3: for all nations have drunk the wine of her impure passion, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have grown rich with the wealth of her wantonness."
4: Then I heard another voice from heaven saying, "Come out of her, my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues;
9: And the kings of the earth, who committed fornication and were wanton with her, will weep and wail over her when they see the smoke of her burning;
21: Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, "So shall Babylon the great city be thrown down with violence, and shall be found no more;
22: and the sound of harpers and minstrels, of flute players and trumpeters, shall be heard in thee no more; and a craftsman of any craft shall be found in thee no more; and the sound of the millstone shall be heard in thee no more;
23: and the light of a lamp shall shine in thee no more; and the voice of bridegroom and bride shall be heard in thee no more; for thy merchants were the great men of the earth, and all nations were deceived by thy sorcery.

44: And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed, nor shall its sovereignty be left to another people. It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand for ever;
45: just as you saw that a stone was cut from a mountain by no human hand, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold. A great God has made known to the king what shall be hereafter. The dream is certain, and its interpretation sure."

A LOT goes on during the Day of the Lord, for it starts at the 6th seal and then continues through all the trumpets, then all the vials, then through the 1000 year reign of Christ, and probably right up to the great, White Throne judgment.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
