Perhaps these wildfires are part of a remedial judgment to get California's and our attention, I don't know? But one thing is for certain: The tree huggers and environmentalists have made their bed and are now sleeping in it. They have passed environmental laws prohibiting forest health and management, and allowed the forest floor be become a feet thick tinder box, with no fire breaks. They're not interested in prevention of fire and the health of the forests; other than passing more laws to restrict the usage and activity of the land. Our federal government has even recognized that fact. 

I feel sorry for those fire jumpers, firemen and aviator's whom risk and lose their lives for poor environmental practice that can be reduced or avoided in the first place... Let's see if my math is correct?

Feet thick dry tinder + lightning, strone lit cigarette, campfire + drought & low humidity + Santa Anna winds + no preventive fire breaks =

From an old guy who was around when the song was written, the Eagles themselves said this was referring to cocaine.   it is meant to be a warning that once used you can't take it back.  once you've experienced it it will always have a drag on you for more.

One of the first and foremost principles in properly understanding scripture is to first understand it as the original writer and his original audience (readers or listeners) would have understood it. Modern consumerism is NOT what those of the fourth century BC would have understood Daniel to be saying. That is just wrong. 

And I think you should pay closer attention to what your teachers teach if they imaginatively impose modern conditions on scripture in neglect of or in conflict with the conditions and understanding of the original perspective. 

 

Consumerism is a problem but it is not the beast of Daniel or Revelation and neither the Eagles nor their song have a clue what either of those prophets were about. 

First: Daniel was part of the exodus to Babylon in the 6th century BC, not the 4th century BC.

Second: The scriptures of Daniel are the Word of God, and so is intended as written. As such and realizing the four beasts in Daniel 7 are the same four beasts in Revelation 13, of which events are to occur at the end of the current age, we then have to relate to the beast who devours the whole earth with what is occurring today.

The fires out west are just one of the results/signs from mass consumerism, and the beast who devours the whole earth represents the world's predominant consumer nations.

There are environmental collapse signs all around us, many of which signs are described in the bible. As such we can either acknowledge the truth, or we can deny the truth. Those who will deny the truth, however, are those in 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12, who for the love of materialism, will be damned.

While Colitas, is spanish slang for young female tail, the rest of the song has too many references to go over every meaning, which are mostly metaphorical. 

Being prisoners of ones own device is the motivation one has to keep doing what you are doing, despite its destructive nature.

The beast in Daniel 7 and Relation 13 therefore are during the end of the current age. 

 Daniel 7:26 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end. 27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
