I would like to hear people's opinions on the CSI shows that are on television right now. I think the original one is a couple of years old, and then they added "CSI Miami" and (I think) "CSI New York".

I'm particulary interested in viewpoints of the graphic scenes and images. From a Christian standpoint, what is your opinion of the very graphic things shown on those shows?

It's up to conscience. To a doctor those scenes are an everyday reality (in a way), such as seeing the blood and guts. To someone like me it's something that is foriegn, so it's more shocking when I see it, but not a shock factor at all when someone who is use to it sees it.

Ok, I probably will get blasted for this...but I like the show...I think I have watched CSI Miami once and I didn't much care for it...I always watch the one where Grisome (sp) is the leading investigator. Is that New York?

I know that the shows are based on actual cases...of course sometimes they have their own little spin. I also like Cold Case Files and Forensic Detectives...

As far as graphic images...I have seen some that were pretty detailed, for example an autopsey scene...but I have never seen nudity, all parts so to speak are covered...but mind you I haven't seen all of them either...

I think they are really interesting, the procedures that are used to catch criminals...although I have to admit I have sat there and wondered how many criminals watch it and get educated too. :)

Love and Blessings,

Angel

I like the original, and Miami. Both those shows are great. I don't mind the grahic scenes, they try to present it in a way that is giving you more understanding of the injury or how things happened, like a cause and effect type of scenerio.

I think it will help people get used to the things we will have to deal with during the tribulation and be less likely to freak out.

I don't like watching them and don't, but it is not from the reality of deceased bodies. I find the show to be a bit depressing to watch all the time.

I'm hooked.

I started with CSI Miami, then I moved to CSI Las Vegas.

I watch either when I can remember that they're on.

Speaking as a Christian, I don't mind the graphic scenes at all. There is not too much overt violence or sexuality in the show, nor is there a lot of graphic language. The higher television rating is just for the autoposey scenes and the crime scene depictions, etc.

This show and "House" are about as regular as I get as far as television viewing is concerned.

I love these shows! The way the "graphic" images are shown is quite scientific, and not meant to be just gratuitous violence or anything. As far as sexual content, there are cases where rape is involved, etc., but whatever sexuality is there is usually presented in a bad light. I wouldn't be sitting down with the kids to watch it or anything, but for a mature person, I think these shows are pretty darn good!

My favourite? Either CSI (the original, in Las Vegas, with Grissom) or CSI Miami. CSI New York is growing on me, but I haven't seen enough episodes, really...good actors on all, though!

Law and Order rocks period!

CSI, SVU, and the original, I am hooked.

My favorite is CSI with Gil Grissom and all of those guys (http://www.cbs.com/primetime/csi/)

I used to watch SVU (Special Victums Unit), ALL The time, I mean it was like all I watched, and God told me to lay off of it. It was not good for me, in the sense it kept bringing back old memories, and would depending on the episode just really tick me off. So I quit watching it as much. I love CSI because of the scientific aspects. The lab. The characters. Because Gil is loosing his hearing, they often incorporate sign language into the shows (like the one where the Deaf kid got ran over, and they had to interrogate the school for the Deaf ect), and I just really like it.

I also like Criminal Intent.

So. I think that if God calls you on watching it, or convicts you, or whatever the case may be then you listen to Him. Some people are offended by these types of shows, while others enjoy it. It really just depends on you and God.

What's do our resident physicians think about this show? Anatomical depictions or gratuitous violence?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
