Let's go for a lighthearted and uplifting conversation thread. What do you see in nature that makes you stop and think about what an awesome Creator God we have? For me lately, it has been something a little unusual. Fungi have particularly done this for me lately. They have such unusual and interesting structures in their reproductive forms, while much of the fungus remains underground. Many fungi can reproduce both sexually (through combination of two different types of gametes) and asexually. What incredible creativity to come up with these interesting forms of life!

There have been some really interesting ones around the house (outside, not inside!) in the last few weeks. I should have taken some pictures, but I'm afraid I missed the window of opportunity for now.

From the birth of a new born to the night sky full of stars ... and just about everything in between.

What in nature causes you to think of God?

  • Rom 1:20  -> "For the unseen things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being realized by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, for them to be without excuse."
  • Psa 19:1  -> "To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the expanse proclaims His handiwork."

Psalm 19 is one of my absolute favorite passages of the Bible.

This is a great question.    And an apt one for Christians to consider:

Romans 1:20  For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

I've spent a lifetime, learning about His creation.   And while science doesn't involve faith, His creation does continuously remind me of His power and wisdom.

One of the really impressive things about nature is that it is ultimately based on such a few rules (or maybe just one).    The stunning complexity of the world is comprehensible in terms of such a small number of physical laws by which it works.    And the fact that it's knowable suggests that He was ready to share it with us.

Often, when I'm alone, maybe down by the Trinity, there's a moment when I can see at once, the beauty and detail of living things and the power and wisdom of the one Who did it.    Those moments are an epiphany for me.
