The Ice Storm and super cold we had last winter made us loose power for over a week. 8 kw generator made life bearable.  Someone stole  that generator while chained up and hard wired into my breaker box...   Thanks to a generous insurance company I replaced it with a 13kw and put it into the detached garage so it will be very difficult to take.  Just have to take drastic CO precautions.    It will run the whole house.  Kind of loads up when the A/C starts up but I'm working on that..

We’re living in Canada and the weather can be very unpredictable…

You can make a solar generator. I made one last year. 12volt marine/car battery (or more than 1), 100 watt solar panel/solar controller, 2000 Watt inverter. You can find how-to's on YouTube or even this website: https://www.instructables.com/Solar-Power-System/

Other than running lights, inverters run batteries down really quick.

I could convert the whole house to solar power for about $35,000.  We'd be ready for blackouts unless it's an ice storm covers your panels with an inch or so of ice.  That happens here.

I use propane with a heat pump. If things went really bad in the winter I could heat stand alone ( no electric needed) with the propane. If it was long term and I couldn't get propane I would remove the gas fire logs and burn wood. I have a coal pellet stove in the basement and a small wood stove. I would probably use the wood stove and scrounge wood where ever I could get it. One way or another I think I could get heat.

In the summer- no A/C. I open my windows and live on the porch. Water- Go to the creek with a bucket lol. No light? Candles and battery lights. How long do I need to stay awake after dark anyhow?

Welcome to my world ;)

My country has been experiencing what we call load shedding since 2007. Just look up South African energy crisis for a decent summary. Corruption,  incompetence and politics play major parts.

Our economy has suffered greatly. We should technically have schedules telling us when this happens but eskom regularly changes it without sufficient warning. Usually it happens around 2 hours at a time. We switch of everything that could be damaged and we invest in little better powered lamps and candles.  Fortunately our weather patterns are always relatively mild. Even at the coldest times a warm jacket should be sufficient.

Many businesses have adapted by now and many have generators.

It's a very complex problem here. It is said it will still affect us at least 5 more years.

You can run a microwave off of it to heat food. You can also run a portable electric heater long enough to heat a small area to a survivable temperature for extended periods by shutting it off and on (monitoring your battery voltage and charging). Yeah, the ice thing kinda mucks up the works, but you can cover the panels at night with a tarp, unless you have the panels on your roof. Then it's kind of a pain, I guess.

I have been looking at getting some panels for our old Winnebago...   It has two large capacity deep cycle batteries.  I could keep enough propane to last a couple of weeks;  2 hundred watt panels should be enough.   All depends on the problem with the blackouts and the time of year.   Most of ours is in the winter.  We had temps way below 0º F last winter and it would have been devastating to our house plumbing had we not had the generator to keep the natural gas central heat going..   RV is winterized.

Usually, if you keep you water running, it helps to prevent the pipes from freezing. The heat tape works well on pipes too, unless you have plastic pipe (which most houses do today).

Another good thing to keep on hand, especially when using deep cell batteries/solar panels and inverters would be 12 volt electric blankets. Again, monitoring your batteries is key. There are some folks who aren't really educated on how to survive when the brimstone hits the fan. If you type this into the YouTube: "Learn the Trick this Survivalist uses to stay warm! Winter Survival, Survival Hacks, Survival Tips" you will also find another way to keep warm in absence of electricity...

Yes! One has to realize that you can prepare just as Joseph did (meaning have enough to help others also and not just yourself). But in the grand scheme of things, it only by YeHovah's Protection and Grace that we persevere. You can hoard all the guns, ammo and canned food you want, but it could be all gone in an instant. Whereas His Grace endures! HalleluYah!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
