Somewhere in there is the need to grasp the space-time continuum and how God relates to it.

The soul does not and cannot remain in a dead body.

This is our good fortune.

When one's leg is amputated his soul remains intact, is not something physical that it can be cut with a knife.

Jesus Christ could not have the identification marksss of his ordeal if he was not raised in his body before it begins to decay.

His body it was glorious not only after his was raised from the dead, his body in the same way it was glorious before he died.

You stated: "The idea of an immortal soul is not a Hebrew concept but comes from Platonic philosophy"

Seriously,  shouldn't you be examining the scriptures for the answer? Just saying.

If I thought merely quoting scripture translations made me an expert on everything I would be considered a silly person. I wouldn't want to disrespect those with scholarships. This is a job for someone well versed in etymology.

Here is are some scriptures for your consideration.

"Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture!" I Corinthians 13:9

"And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know." 1 Corinthians 8:2

"Let no one deceive himself. If any of you thinks he is wise in this age, he should become foolish, so that he may become wise." 1 Corinthians 3:18

Sorry, just have to disagree with you. While I certainly learn from and respect the work of scholars,  the only source of truth that we can always  trust is God's Word. It comes before everything else, especially regarding spiritual matters.

Your devotion is beautiful. It is important to understand the level of bias like selection, anchoring, in-group and confirmation. Being aware that a meaning we are reading into the Bible might be subjective and prone to arguments. A similar sentiment is spoken of by Timothy.

"Remind them of these things, and solemnly exhort them in the presence of God not to dispute about words, which is useless and leads to the ruin of the listeners." 2 Timothy 2:14

In the Gospel of John, Christ said, God is a SPIRIT and we must worship God in Spirit and in Truth.

In the first Chapter of the Gospel of John, it explains that Christ is the WORD [that became] flesh...so before this, the WORD is Spirit.

This means the flesh body of Christ is temporary.   As God, the WORD is able to show Himself, the scars He endured, the Stripes, the nail prints, the sword wound, etc., but the WORD is still God, which is SPIRIT!

So knowing that much makes it an easy deduction, outside of Paul's explanation, that our own bodies are temporary and only compliant to this Earth.

4Behold, all souls are Mine. Like the soul of the father, like the soul of the son they are Mine; the soul that sins, it shall die.

20The soul that sins, it shall die;

23Do I desire the death of the wicked? says the Lord God. Is it not rather in his repenting of his ways that he may live?

There are person-less souls in eternity?

Got scripture for that because I cannot find a single example of a bodiless soul in the Bible?

Can you clarify that because we are raised with a spiritual body AND Jesus' resurrected body had mass AND it was his body, AND it was allowed into the kingdom of heaven.

Do you mean our sinful bodies of flesh and blood

I was discussing 2 Corinthians 5: 1For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

Or....

Our bodies are much more than we understand them to be.

The integration of dust and God's life-giving breath creates a living being, a creature created in God's own image that is then made into the image of Christ - and Christ's body did not see decay (ours will). Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, but Jesus used a slightly different term: flesh and bone. This would seem to indicate the body of flesh and blood was raised a body of flesh and bone, a spiritual body but one still possessing flesh and bone. I read nothing in scripture saying Jesus shed that body on the way or anywhere in heaven.

For the record: when we speak of "person" or "personhood" we should remember our names are written down in the Lamb's book of life. We will never not have names. Every single one of us is different and God knows us by name.

1For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

We have a new body!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
