If you are right-wing;

1. Bush and the Feds want a large port with no one close enough to see what they are doing

2. Bush wants to start race riots so he can impose martial law on America.

3. Bush wants to federalize all crops coming down the Mississippi.

if you are left wing;

1. Bush doesn't care about black people. Never mind the fact that no other President in our history has had so many black people in high Cabinet offices.

2. Bush and the Republicans don't want to pay Social Security for a bunch of old folks, or let them have clean water....so they conspired to let them die.

3. Cheney and Haliburton have figured out how to aim a hurricane and they wanted to drive up the price of gasoline

seriously though Sam, the catastrophes you mentioned were much smaller in scale. This is an area the size of Great Britain without communications, electricity. clean water, fuel, or roads!

Something is drastically different in New Orleans, and I can't put my finger on just what, but it is different.

Prayer is a strong word. Much can come from breathing words into the vibrations of the winds.

However, I believe G-D showed someone how to make plastic containers. These containers hold something we can't live without for long - WATER!

Plastic containers hold more then water - food of all kinds.

There is no harm in being prepared. Think of all the people you could help.

Is your state ready for a National Disaster?

Since Hurricane K, the problems seen deep in the south, One would start wondering if your state is prepared for a National Disaster?

I live in the state of Michigan. I will have to write our Governor and find out what is in place.

At this time we know FEMA doesn't have it together. They are working things out on a minute to minute agenda. Hopefully, they will have it together by what ever is going to come next.

The Military has different places all over the state, where supplies of water and food could be stored.

Maybe sitting back and assuming isn't where the answer lies. It takes a little energy on your part to make positive changes in our states.

How many states were ready for this natural disaster? I'm in Canada and I'm feeling the effects of it. I fear we have passed the point of no return when it comes to this sort of thing. This was just one event in a time when nature has run amok. Last year I paid 3000 dollars in heating bills. Already that is doubled with todays oil prices. Summer is my lucrative time of year and I haven't made that kind of money. The poor are going to suffer throughout the winter if they survive it, no matter what state or country you live in. What are the chances of another major catastrophy happening before the cold winds blow. Earthquakes in the west, terrorists from the south, tornadoes up the middle, forest fires, you name it and the possibility for mayhem is there.

Actually Yod, a good conspiritist goes to a great deal of trouble to rule out any possible other angle before even considering the conspiracy as a cause.

I think the post that Neb put up about the welfare state pretty much answers the problems of the evacuation, and the problem of the levey's not being fixed over the years are problems that were alive and well in the days of the civil war.

Just about everyone in position to do something about it for he past 150 years has found other things more important. I wonder how much of a sin tax would have to have been raised to fund building leveys that would take on any weather that nature could bring.... 250 million out of the billions and billions that people have spent there over the yrears just doesn't seem like much to me. It sounds to me like that welfare state mentality has even gone to the very core of the government of New Orleans, and maybe even the state.

No.... no one here looking for a conspiracy, actually just the opposite.

I am a bit confused with some of the actions of FEMA, for they are not nearly as effecient there as I have personally seen them here. I don't think they were nearly as effective in New Orleans as they were in Alabama and Mississippi, and that takes me back to most likely being the problem of local government.

I do hope they rebuild it though, for, sick as it sounds, the world seems to need a place like New Orleans and I'd sure hate to see it abandoned there and moved to Oklahoma. We've got enough problems here without adding all that......

But I think Snow has a point.

Between the threats of massive terrorist attacks and the growing threats of massive natural disastors -

And even if you are "pre-trib," you know the Earth will be going through "birth pains" - of which this hurricane could have been one -

We can't twidle our thumbs and think, "When disaster hits, the government will take care of me."

Nor can we think, "I don't have to store up for disaster, God will take care of me."

The Lord gave us brains for a reason.

As individuals, we need to be prepared for disaster. Have some jugs and bottles of water and MREs and toilet paper and such set aside to sustain you for a period of time.

When my home was without power for 5 days after a hurricane knocked some trees down on the power line up the street, we were sure sorry we hadn't been prepared as we could have been.

I have only heard one person say anything about God on the news while watching... everyone else is complaining and now trying to pass the blame where ever they can place it.....

the government can only do so much, and if you are going to shoot at the people coming in to help, then guess what...... you will be still sitting there when others have already been helped... I dont need to be shot at when helpping...

I would disagree.... these other cities do have problems, but none have large planned city wide parties with debauchery as it's main theme...... No.... I would disagree.... none of these other cities advertise to come at least once a year and drink yourself into a stupor and make a general "donkey" of yourself with all the splash you can muster..... no there are not any other cities that I am aware of that promote voodoo demonic religon like N.O. .......

No there are other cities with problems and gather people to gamble and spend money on things we would not agree with, but like New Orleans....... I don't think so.

snow, I had to give some thought to your question before wanted to answer.

I think a lot of the people in our state are ready for a disaster.... we did quite well with that large tornado that messed up towns across a large part of the state. That is unless FEMA got in the way, which they did not do during the tormado.

If they do get in the way....... I don't really know how our population would react....
