Shalom!

We're rentals and have been moving here and there during the years, rented apartments and houses 🏘, and now we're renting a house in a very quiet neighborhood, but it hasn't always been like that.

Now and then we've lived in places where it was quite noisy sometimes, both outside and inside, and I must honestly admit that I haven't always dealt with it in a way that I would like to, as the noise almost always appeared in the time when I was going to sleep, and I've discovered that I need to (?) have it quiet around me when I'm trying to go to sleep.

So, when there were noise around me in that time (it could be people who were partying, making noisy driving for "fun", barking dogs or whatever), I had problems with just ignoring it, so I rather ended up irritated because I couldn't sleep.

I'm not proud of this, as I know that His Love endure everything, and I really wanna walk in His Love 24/7 until I reach Heaven, so I've asked Him to help me out with this....I mean to deal with and endure all kinds of "noise" around me, at all times.

May I ask how you are dealing with situations like this?

Only Christ can show you the perfect way, words are not what is needed, for they will only distract, it is a increase of Christ in you that you are looking for, and that only Christ Himself can give…

So until the increase comes, keeping one eyes on Christ is the only encouragement that can be given…

Be blessed as He gives the increase, Not me

I lived in an urban environment most of my life. For twenty years, my backyard was Cahokia, Parks Airport in Illinois. Constant airport traffic, testing turbine engines at all-night hours, city noise, regular freight trains, sirens, etc.

As a helicopter mechanic, flight engineer, twenty years in the military, firing all kinds of weaponry, etc. I have tinnitus.

The point is, I was oblivious and conditioned to noise, and I have slept right through several major noisy events.

My problem is just the opposite of yours. Twelve years ago, I moved to the boonies; the silence is deafening. Even today, it is faster and easier to fall asleep if the TV or radio is on. Sitting in the house, hearing something outside, the wife and I look at each other and ask, “I wonder what that is?” Dennis, go check 😊

Twelve years now, and I am still not conditioned to silence. Some people fall asleep faster with eye coverings and earplugs, and I am still the opposite; go figure?

Hi Monica,

I can identify. I do like quiet. I wear ear plugs a lot, the `putty` type ones.

Hope they help. Marilyn.

Wow! I haven't thought about that some people like you, struggles with the opposite, the quietness. Even if I actually grew up in a little city, I somehow preferred the quietness when I should go to sleep.

My husband, though, can get to sleep no matter what, and he only needs a couple of minutes when he has gone to bed, but I need much more time....in quietness. 😅

Oh well, I hope to be able to deal with any kind of noise from now on.

Hi Marilyn. I've tried ear plugs, but my ears got so sore. 😅

As for here and now, it is very quiet, but if the Lord wants us to move to another place again or whatever, it may be to a noisy place (?) and I have decided to learn to deal with it as good as I can, and I know that He will help me if I'm willing. 😊

Some people resort to what's called white noise. Basically unobtrusive low key sounds like recordings of the ocean or a crackling fireplace. The idea is that it diminishes the impact of the noise and is hopefully a relaxing sound in and of itself. I've not really used it much myself but one of my friends does. My own neighbors can be noisy sometimes and get a lot of night time traffic from people coming and going. I've ended up dividing my sleep schedule into two or three smaller chunks of time rather than one big one. It's great for me as I'm disabled and have nothing that enforces any particular hours on me, but it's definitely not for everyone.

I am not sure if I'm overly sensitive to noise or not. I probably am given my makeup.

I live in the country around Amish people who one might think are very quiet. They would be wrong. My neighbor has a skid loader on his property and I would swear he gets a dopamine rush when he is on it because he is on it all the time, almost every waking minute he is home. I think he just likes to ride around on it. He seems to start it up when I'm in the back yard after a long day trying to relax or inside doing something that requires concentration. They also own a back pack leaf blower. It's one of the loudest most powerful ones in existence. The little two cycle engine can be heard a mile away. Since they believe cleanliness is next to godliness, if a leaf falls in the yard they are out there with that thing blowing off the yard. The husband gets a dopamine rush from the skid loader. The wife gets a dopamine rush from the leaf blower. They also occasionally line the sites up on their guns and target practice, so on a nice summer's day I'll hear guns being fired for hours.

The conspiracy theory side of me thinks maybe they are trying to get me to move out so they can buy my house for one of their many children. Deep down I don't believe this. I just think they are not aware how disruptive the noise can be at times. At least on Sunday they don't make any noise.

My most relaxing times are in the late evening when it's too dark to see to drive a skid loader or to see a leaf to blow. Those times are nice, although I have seen the blower running when I almost couldn't see my hand in front of my face. She must have night vision.

More than once I have been tempted, but never fell to the temptation, to set up my PA sound system in the back yard on maximum volume. I won't do it, but I have been tempted.

For sleep in the evening I have one of those inexpensive floor fans I turn on for white noise. A running fan relaxes me and puts me off to sleep. The nice breeze sometimes feels good too. About 5am though, I hear trucks delivering their loads on the back roads making use of their jake brakes. No need for an alarm clock.

I like quiet and peaceful. Most neighborhoods are not quiet and peaceful. There is often a huge problem with apartments. That is why I will not live in a neighborhood again.

Oh, dear, I understand you, and I don't know if I should cry or laugh 😂, because you told it in a kinda funny way!

The Amish people are on my prayer list (heart). It is a paradox that some of them, who don't wanna have electricity etc, can however make such noise?! ☺️

It is a good idea 💡 to use a fan for "white noise"! I tried to listen to worship songs on a higher volume, but it didn't really help me to get to sleep, I rather got more awake.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
