I basically share Jayne's position on the matter. These things aren't necessarily always objects of worship. They can be sentimental objects, and I personally see them as reminders that God is with us. The Bible tells us to renew our minds, and I feel that having reminders helps on that front.

I have reminders on my walls also, but I don't worship them, bow to them, nor look at them as "holy".   May I suggest you take a look at all of the second commandment given by Moses and not just one verse.

You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

Notice the following:

you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God

That is the reasoning behind not having any of those things.

A statue is just a statue made of concrete or whatever.  Surely, no one is going to worship concrete.  Therefore, no need to get rid of it.  It’s Christ we worship.  70CD3C83-2FF7-4201-99CD-CC059CCD15F5.gif.9a70998910e0ab0673d648c05061ba36.gif

Hmmm....people all around the world pray to statues to include RCC statues.  There are even protestant believers that think it is okay to pray to paintings of Jesus and wooden crosses.  Idolatry is still a sin even under the new covenant.

Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. - 1Co 10:14 KJV

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. - Gal 5:19-21 KJV

IDOL'ATRY, noun [Latin idololatria. Gr. idol, and to worship or serve.]

1. The worship of idols, images, or any thing made by hands, or which is not God.

Idolatry is of two kinds; the worship of images, statues, pictures, etc. made by hands; and the worship of the heavenly bodies, the sun, moon and stars, or of demons, angels, men and animals.

2. Excessive attachment or veneration for any thing, or that which borders on adoration.

Thank you.

Blessings

I don't have anything to add to what was explained to you regarding that " verse" except to tell you to always consider who is being addressed, where ,when, why is this being addressed and for what Purpose.

We can take a single verse of Scripture to confirm or deny anything we want to support or reject and that is misapplication- always read in entirety,in context and of course ask Holy Spirit Understanding so as not to be confused.

That's my little suggestion,we could drive ourselves crazy with " one- liners" ,especially from the Old Testiment- study is important and it's excellent that you ask questions ...you obviously Love our Lord, let me remind you that you are Loved by Him( exactly as you are❤️)

Don't worry about the reminders you have about your house, you should see my house!!! My thing is conversation pieces,I look for every opportunity for someone to ask me about JESUS or to say " what does that mean?"

God Bless you

In His Love, Kwik

Our love and devotion to God are our sacrifice to the Lord.

Any created thing that we prioritize above the LORD has more than likely become an idol to us; soon we will begin to worship it (bow down to it) more than the “Creator of the ends of the earth.”  Therefore, we must be very careful in our own lives to make sure that no love—of any kind—takes priority over the love we have for our heavenly Father.

And God spoke all these words, saying: "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. "You shall have no other gods before Me. You pose a question and then post what God has shown you to do.
Then look to fallen man for excuses to do what your flesh wants.
We worship God in spirit and truth, for a reason.

Do what you knew to do before you posted above.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
