@Mozart's Starling FYI........this thread.......any wisdom.?

I am an alcoholic that has been clean for with only a  few fall backs (3 in total) in 2 months now. It doesn't sound like much but to me it is a step in the right direction. I have also been taking my medicine consistently (I am on psych meds for bipolar disorder and OCD) and that has helped as well. I do think addictions can be positive, after all in that psalm thread you posted it mentions delighting in the ways of the Lord. So as long as your obsessive and addicted to matters of God it can only be a good thing. We are supposed to always have him in mind after all.

@Mozart's Starling Thanks for your comments; as you will see the thread has attracted quite a lot of comment already - particularly about the tattoo aspect- which seems to be quite a topical matter.

"I still want one, but for as much as I try to iron out my wrinkles they just get  worse. Oh well, maybe a wrinkle pattern in more a American Samoa style tattoo is all I might handle. I have liked those bold wide solid black lines, kind of warrior looking markings."

@Neighbor So I guess you are still undecided?

Aren't there stick-on tats? They are not permanent, and you could change locations on your body or swap with other tats for when they are appropriate.

What you put on yourself now might be connected with your present maturity and ability to be honest with yourself. So, you might not be wise to do anything now which you won't be able to change when you are more mature and wise.

Hi @com7fy8 On the specific aspect of whether tattoos are supposedly not "lady-like", I don't buy this at all - whatever other considerations may come into play.

If someone tried to advance the idea that they are supposedly not "lady-like", there's overwhelming evidence to contrary, IMHO, 2c.......

I would say it depends on if the tat is ladylike or not :)

I considered this at one point:

τεέλεσται

[Once again I find myself missing the word processor I had on my old Leading Edge computer:  it could "double bold" -- bold something, then hold <shift> + bold and it would make it even more bold.  The   symbol is supposed to be very bolded compared to the rest of the word.]

For those who don't read Greek, that's τετέλεσται (te-TEH-les-tie), the one-word sentence Jesus proclaims from the Cross that means "It is (totally and completely now and in eternity) finished!"

Note that there are three taus -- τ -- in the word, so it displays the Crucifixion:  a center τ  (cross) for Jesus, one closer to the center that stands for the thief who repented, and one far from the center for the thief who only cursed Jesus.

Wow,Some time ago Joseph Prince was giving a sermon ,not sure if you've ever saw him but he usually will teach a little referencing Koine,he's very good explaining language and symbolism, you might enjoy his preaching some time

Anyway,I remember this well as it is something he addressed specifically,it's pretty Awesome- thanks for sharing,I don't think I would have remembered this had you not brought it up👍

I was thinking that sometimes compelling pursuits can have good outcomes.

My son is very aggressive, like my brother. But they use this in a positive way to get a good education and to get good grades. They end up being leaders in the community because they go above and beyond what others are doing in a positive way; .

Tattoos are forbidden by the LAW of Moses.

Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD. (Leviticus 19:28)

Tattoos are also forbidden by Islam.

"It was narrated that Abu Juhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) cursed the one who does tattoos and the one who has a tattoo done.' " - Sahih Bukhari (hadith literature)

Tattoos are placed by and approved by PAGAN religions and spiritualists.

While Americans approve of tattoos as a cheap way to tell a story on their skin or to refer to some event or person, they do not realize there's a reason for doing it or not doing it.

In pagan religions, tattoo marks have a spiritual connotation.

Generally speaking the spirits of the tattoo artist, the ink, and the skin illustration invoke demonic powers and entities.  They do so by yielding the authority of the one BEING marked to that which will inhabit and influence the bearer of the mark.

THERE IS A REASON the Bible and Islamic Hadith literature forbid tattoos.

The REASON isn't just to deny artistic expression.

The REASON is to deny demonic influences upon those who would otherwise not welcome it.

Not all things are innocent.  Tattoos are one of them.

that's me, hollering from the choir loft...

Paul says in 1 Corinthians 10.21: "Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils."

I take that as implying that for example a Bible verse/ref. tattoo will not cause the wearer to lose his or her salvation. There is plenty of other Scripture for the true believer's eternal security.

"My kid knew I was not thrilled with my own faded tats & how they look after many years so he never got one until much older as I think I discouraged him" @kwikphilly PS: Just to say that some ppl do go back to the tattoo artist and have a bit of pigmentation added to existing tattoos if after years they have gotten faded. (I don't think this has been mentioned; this is quite widely practised.)

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
