What has the Lord commanded us to do, then?

You shall not hate your fellow countryman in your heart; you may certainly rebuke your neighbor, but you are not to incur sin because of him. You shall not take vengeance, nor hold any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the Lord. (Leviticus 19:17-18 NASB)

One of the scribes came up and heard them arguing, and recognizing that He had answered them well, asked Him, “What commandment is the foremost of all?” Jesus answered, “The foremost is, ‘Hear, Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one; and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:28-31 NASB)

"I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all people will know that you are My disciples: if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35 NASB)

Don't hate. Do not take vengeance, nor hold a grudge. Love your neighbor as yourself.

As for the identity of our enemies, @R. Hartono

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:10-12 NASB)

Men and women aren't our enemies. Our enemies are spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. The Old Covenant is not naturally discerned for the natural man is at enmity with the Spirit of God. What Joshua and the children did in the promised land was both a shadow and a type of our struggle against spiritual forces. Don't twist scripture to conform to hatred and a desire for vengeance.

I need to tell you Marathoner, this country was colonized for 350 years by the Dutch, abused, raped, robbed, made illiterate and stupid, malnutrition and genocide. There was no Moses sent by God to free the people and killed the oppressors at the bottom of the sea.

Thank God we Christians are able to live in liberty by the heroic battle defeating the Dutch.

With such attitude like yours howbeit wickedness can be exterminated. You have blind loving attitude without looking at situation. God said Thou shall not kill or steal and what shall happen if we let that happens ? Nations Will perish in turmoil and slavery and colonization and genocides. Like Most European nations colonized other world for many centuries, they kill and steal. You want to love them ? They wont repent and return. Unless they are being fought and get killed and defeated.

Christian Law officers / police or soldiers must defend their nation from inside or outside. Punishment by law is Made to teach lesson that people may fear and repent. Not by blind love forgiving and letting go all crimes unpunished.....

I believe Joshua is a wise man besides also loving all his people.

But you speak of killing not only those who committed crimes but also their families. How would that make you any better than those you speak against?

Joshua was commanded by Father, it has got nothing to do with Hitler.

Joshua did not have anything to do with Hitler and was obeying God, but your ideas are not the same and do not go along with the Jesus taught.

I was following Joshua example, are you saying that God is wrong ? And Joshua is cruel ?

God commanded Achan family to be killed as well, if it cant be Made as example then for what purpose ? Why cant we use this lesson from God to teach this world, thats all i'm trying to say.

@OneLight

Thank God the Law of this nation also punish the family of corruptors who get involved in hiding corrupted money. Not thanking you. That people may fear to steal.

The world should follow this example shown by God. Are you wiser than Joshua ?

Nations have Law to obey, so far only the chicom executed corruptors and jail their families, thats why China can grow to be a wealthy nations but still corruptions are many in china, thieves always try to steal.

To love our enemies doesnt mean corruptors are exempted from law. If they dare to steal although the law gives death sentence then they challenge death blatantly and must be punished by Law.

If we just forgive all crimes what Will become of nations ? Total riot and disorder and poverty. So God via Joshua has given an example.

When I was in Saudi Arabia I rented a room in hotel and the floor only had one Bathroom at end of the hall. As I was going to shower and had all my personal items some one ask why are you taking those items with you? I said my room has no lock on the door and they said you can leave those items in your room If anyone steals we cut off their hands. They wont steel here.

In the gospels Jesus spoke of someone whose debt was forgiven but who then refused to forgive the debts owed him. Jesus condemned that action.

That is what you are doing. Refusing to forgive and instead demanding the innocent lives of families be cut down.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
