How on earth do you reach this conclusion?

"Be filled" is NOT "past tense" - it's a command! What's more, in the Greek it's a "present continuous imperative", and a full translation would be "keep on being filled with the Holy Spirit."

We are indeed "leaky vessels", and we need to keep on seeking the Holy Spirit. If we think we don't need to do this, then we're succumbing to pride and complacency.

I was focusing on the part that said he was making false allegations.

Most churches are are not teaching the whole counsel of God which leads to false doctrine whether they are charismatic churches or otherwise and when that's the case then it's not a false accusation.

We need to be mindful that if a church or ministry is in fact teaching false doctrine, then other believes should be warned and given a heads up since that's the right thing to do as we don't want to see anybody get caught up in false doctrine.  It's what Love would do.

I spent most of my Christian life in charismatic churches and it's true in many cases that they end up chasing the gifts rather than the Giff Giver which is the Lord.  While it's true the Lord still does miracles, when people are just in it for what the Lord can do for them, they are in false doctrine land.

There is evidence in scripture where people got filled with the Spirit... then later on they got filled again.

I don't know how it's happened, but a quote from the OP (which I strongly disagree with!) has got attributed to me!

There is indeed evidence of the apostles (no less!) being repeatedly filled with the Spirit during the course of the book of Acts.

Yep. it would probably be good to start one's morning off with talking to the Lord about consecrating our selves unto Him anew and receiving / inviting the Spirit of Truth to inhabit all aspects of our lives today!

I heard someone say once that the Holy Spirit is a gentleman and He doesn't just automatically lead and guide us... we need to yield to Him to do so since the Lord is not forcing His way in to anybody's life.

Acts 13:52

He Michael.. haha you know who I think about now huh.. not sure if you were agreeing with the post above. Well Acts 13:52 says hints at nothing of anyone being filled again

"And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.". Yeah right now I am filled with Joy of the sweet holy Ghost and with the Holy Ghost. Every believer that has asked according to Luke 11 13. It is shocking how many fight this. Well I toss out what everyone says and I go read Luke 11 13. Jesus Christ the son of the living God said it yet HE said ever word He spoke was the Father. So my Father said if I ask Him for the holy spirit He will give it. HELLO? GOD spoke that.. man I want EVERYTHING my Father wants to give.

Oh man its like night and day.. a joy always.. you can't stop praising Him.. His love His Joy His strength His peace His mercy His grace. Look how Paul and they in each book talked. 1-50 years had passed and they had greater Joy at every day that passed. I was filled when I was 15 and I am 62 now and its better now then before. Hes true.. every day is new.. He never stops giving.. YES I BOAST about my Father. See like you start praising Him when you don't want to.. and He comes and man IT GROWS AND GROWS and you want to stand in the street tell EVERYONE How wonderful He is and how much He loves them died for them.. oh sorry so sorry.. got lost.. HAHA..

Man people stop thinking stop...just read His word and then believe and if He said it do it.. believe it or not

There are apostate movements of what they assume is the Holy Spirit.

The catch phrases of that apostasy for believers to watch out for is:

"Those who have a hunger for more of God.." is given to the assembly, appealing to saved believers to seek more of the Holy Spirit or more of that phenomenon that they are promoting whether it be another baptism of the Holy Ghost by that sign of tongues or "slain in the spirit" or the "holy laughter" movement or Pensacola Outpouring or the "Toronto's Blessings" or Asbury Revival or anywhere that mislead believes they can receive the Holy Spirit again after a sign in the flesh or feel His Presence outside of them in the worship place.

And yet Jesus said this for all saved believers that they would never hunger nor thirst again after they have been saved.

John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

That is why they are hungering for more of God; for more of that phenomenon, because they are not really coming to Jesus Christ at all.

Another catch phrase of apostasy is... "Let the Spirit fill you".

This takes their eyes off of the Son in worship to the "Spirit" which the indwelling Holy Spirit would never do, but keep pointing us to the Son in coming to God the Father in worship, prayer, & fellowship.

Antichrist as it is used in scripture means "instead of Christ" as in "instead of the Son" and so the spirits of the antichrist would come into the place of worship when the eyes are on the Holy Spirit in worship or in prayer or in fellowship to mislead them in chasing after them for a sign.

Ephesians 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

They will misuse this verse above as if the latter end of that verse is about presently seeking a filling of the Holy Spirit when it is about avoiding getting drunk, thus remaining sober as be filled ( past tense ) with the Holy Ghost.  We are not leaky vessel to seek a continual filling.

Matthew 9:17 Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.

Indeed, they will try to misuse this verse 13 below as if believers are supposed to ask for the Holy Spirit as often as they like, but they are not reading the whole message because verses 11-12 testifies that for the Father to avoid the appearance of evil for you to ask for the Holy Spirit again, He will give you the Holy Spirit the first time for knocking at the door of Jesus Christ at your salvation so you would never need to ask him again as if He did not give you the Holy Spirit the first time you had asked.

Luke 11:9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?

13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

We need His help to heed this warning below.

2 Corinthians 11:1Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me. 2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

So even if miracles are supposedly being done there like healings or casting out of devils; if it is not after Christ but after the rudiments of the world of receiving spirits after a sign, claiming this to be a move of the Holy Spirit in that place, do not go there.

Matthew 24:23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. 25 Behold, I have told you before. 26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Proverbs 25:26 A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring. 27 It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory. 28 He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

1 Timothy 4:1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

Some will say that they believe the Holy Spirit is in them and yet believe they are receiving Him again in hypocrisy. So keep your eyes on Jesus Christ, the Bridegroom, for He will be coming soon for the abiding bride of Christ as you are complete in Him as always filled with the Spirit.

Colossians 2:5 For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ. 6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. 8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

I found this post to be illuminating on several levels.   We need more of this sort of thing.

The only disagreement I might have with it is identifying the Anti-Christ system as mentioned in Daniel, Revelation, etc.

The fathers of the protestant reformation agreed completely that the Roman Catholic church IS the anti-christ global religious system mentioned in Holy Writ.

As a reaction to this attitude the Vatican approved the publication of a book called FUTURISM by Jesuit priest Francisco Ribera.   In this book Ribera blew a smokescreen around all the protestant interpretations of the RCC as the anti-Christ system.   They couldn't negate the Bible, however, so they created false interpretations instead.  In the post-modern church we see almost all protestants buying into nearly every aspect of the RCC lie.

There's a lot of material to cover in this assertion, but to keep it simple here I mean only to follow in the footsteps of the writers of the Bible and the fathers of the reformation and agree that the anti-christ system IS the Catholic church.

No other candidate for this sordid title has ever raised its ugly head.

that's me, hollering from the choir loft...

Problem is... the reformers aren't any better than the catholics!

They teach partial truths and inject their own eisgesis into their doctrine which is the same thing the pharisees and sadducees did that Jesus warned about

Matthew 16:11
Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees

Besides Martin Luther was a known drunk, and John Calvin by his own admission was an repentant murder.... can we really trust people like this?

OR, should the let The Teacher (Holy Ghost) that Jesus sent to lead and guide us in to ALL Truth... which is God's Word?

Paul is asking Ephesians not to get drunk as in past tense but remain filled with the Spirit.

Ephesians 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

That is Paul exhorting the readers to remain sober.

Notice how fruit is singular in listing them as of the Holy Spirit?

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

When you have the Holy spirit, you have all those fruit listed of the Holy Spirit.  If you sow to the works of the flesh, hence drunkenness, then you are not remaining filled with the fruit of the Holy Spirit called temperance which is self control.

Quote

We are indeed "leaky vessels", and we need to keep on seeking the Holy Spirit. If we think we don't need to do this, then we're succumbing to pride and complacency.

How can you as a believer apply this scriptural truth to your testimony of you believe that?

Matthew 9:17 Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.

Matthew 9:17 is a about the testimony from God that we are always Spirit-filled and thus saved.

How can Jesus words be true after coming to & believing in Him that we would never seek to be filled again to satisfy our hunger & thirst for God?

John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

How can a believer seek a continual filling of the Holy spirit when it ignores this warning from Paul not to seek such a thing?

2 Corinthians 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

Indeed, we are complete in Christ for why we are exhorted to walk in Him as there is no more receiving of Him to be filled with.

Is it not after the rudiments of the world to keep receiving spirits?  Then how can that rudiment exist in Christianity unless this prophesy is coming true?

1 Timothy 4:1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

The real indwelling Holy Spirit would keep our eyes on Jesus Christ, the Bridegroom whereas the spirits of the antichrist would take our eyes off of the Son in seeking a continual "filling" as in a continual receiving of them by signs and & lying wonders.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
