When I was a catholic altar boy (lost) I would swing the incense censer during processions in church.
But no more because as a saved believer, We are the pleasing aroma of Christ, the fragrance of the knowledge of Him.

"But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in *triumphal procession*, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.

For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.

To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task?

No more sacrifice.  It is finished!   And Amen!

John 19.30 is indeed pivotal: "It is finished".

It is true the prayers of the saints are lifted up to the throne of God as a sweat aroma,

Revelation 8:4 (I quote revelations allot)

"And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand."

It is also true we should not add or subtract from the good works the lord have done on the cross through which we are saved. Here me out, the lord God whom is spirit wants to be worshiped in the spirit, this we know. So much of what has been said in this thread by you are true. Understand too certain good works such as John when he baptized, it was not written than people should do it. Johns faith, expressed in the physical realm lead him to do it.

John 5:39
Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

The bible, Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth; A summary of the good works but not the ceiling of what is possible in God, it was never written with the intent to tell man all there is to know. Through faith we are to take leaps and mysteries will be revealed to us, which can then be verified by scripture.

While you are not a prophet, the lord said we will do greater things, did he not?

So take that leap of faith, and do good works. Put away the milk and serve the meat!

How many of us has given to the poor?

Healed the sick?

Give sight to the blind?

Given shelter to the homeless?

Give comfort to the lonely?

Be persecuted for the glory of the lord?

Being a christian is more than saying a happy sentence here and there, how many of us live it?

If this is you, then you are the reason why i came to worthy chat and you are the one I want to converse with, so i can grow in christ like you.

I did not sign up to write christian slogans but to further do the lords work.

Hi and a belated welcome to WCF.

I'd say no to my using any scents whatsoever; but then I have adult onset asthma too. But do whatever one wishes in one's own domain.

-----------

In general; there are no ESSENTIAL oils. That is a sales pitch adjective. Plus in group settings, like church worship, it can be sickening to have to smell someone's idea of a pleasant smell for an  hour or so while the nose blocks up and breathing becomes difficult.

In classrooms, those wall plug mounted dispensers of scent are now frowned upon and, though not by statute yet, banned by local Fire marshall inspectors- not so much  as a fire hazard ( They are), but because they are getting EMT emergency calls to schools for kids suffering asthma attacks in those teacher's classrooms where they have been using them.

I once thought it a bright idea to have a scent dispenser in the school cafeteria dispensing an apple pie cinnamon aroma. The health inspector gave me a lecture and cited us on the basis that there can be NO items that may mask any unpleasant smell, same thing for restrooms, and classrooms. They all had better be clean (they were), odor free, without any item that masks anything causing odor.

Seems good policy overall to be clean not covered up; including for human bodies in public places theatres, churches, malls, etc. Want to smell sensuous? Maybe dusty rose powder or tigress worn while in church pews is not the time nor place, NOR is the sparkle powder that gets all over everything wherever a woman that uses it may go.  -End personal rant.

I burn dried lime leaves to get rid of insects and termites and to give air fragrance, because i have lime trees. But incense is too horror for neighbours.

Just a thought to share- chalk boards with chalk, and white boards with markers semi permanent and permanent, were replaced by smart boards with keyboards computers and projectors, sometime back. Plus now most every kid ( Student)  has a tablet instead of books at schools, -if they even go into a school building. Remote learning is what I think most all students will soon be doing, at home or at parent's places of employment in child care rooms. Using programs much like what Liberty is using now. Even Public schools, since COVID, are using remote class programs and the teachers in the classroom are just babysitting as the students do remote learning online while in a classroom. I do believe that schools are going to die out altogether and very soon.

What will soon be the latest newest thing for education tools I haven't a clue, but what has occurred over the past twenty years has been amazing- and a lot of work for the people that have to teatr out the old and install all the new "stuff". Nex it will likely be what do we do with these empty school buildings. All the new stuff requiring power that wasn't even thought about when chalk was the means of communicating.

When that happens fully everyone can sit at home smelling what they wish,  and smelling like whatever they tolerate on themselves.

Termites? Does that work? I presume it does, but never heard of that before. Do you tent a house and burn lime leaves???

Seems to me we used to use lime leaves and orange leaves to attract gophers to killer traps.

It's funny that you should mention your preparation of the atmosphere,I am sure you mean in your home, right?Because I often take pleasure in doing things to keep the " atmosphere" in my own home prepared in a way that is " welcoming" to my Lord...fit for the King,an atmosphere of servitude .

I think your outward gestures are an expression to honor Him and I believe it's Pleasing to God... You've not indicated anything ritualistic and that would be meaningless,Sounds like your actions are from the heart-❤️

Once when I was reading about the Israelites sprinkling the lambs blood over their doors, thresholds with hyssop branches I was thinking of Jesus, the Perfect Lamb of God and my heart was so filled with Gratitude I sent outside, broke of a branch (:no idea what kind),took a bowl of water and dipped the branch in the water and as I walked to each door and window( sprinkling) I was Praising & Thanking God ..saying,this is the hyssop & this is the Blood of Christ- Thank You Lord for Your Protection over this house, myself,my family....   The enemy heard those words loud & clear- I was exclaiming by an outward profession of Faith that my atmosphere is God's Property

Right, wrong, indifferent, strange, unnecessary? Who Cares,it was on my heart to make an outward expression ----👍Glory to God!

Its just preventive to get rid of termites and insects from coming near, this is humid tropical country (Java).

Just burn some in a can indoor. Its aromatherapy too i guess. Sometimes i burn cassia vera too. Very pleasant smell.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
