I am adding to what Jayne said above. To be baptized by immersion is the immediate second act after accepting Jesus as your personal Savior. I think we all know being baptized never saved anyone.

Complete water immersion has been debated on the forum vs. a little dab will do ya (sprinkling). I think the examples in the Bible are clear, plenty of water, rivers, lakes, and complete immersion. Some denominations believe otherwise and also practice infant baptism, and that baptism saves.

At Jesus’s death, He first descended below the surface, then arose by resurrection. I think Jesus’s baptism was a pattern for us to follow. All three Persons were involved in Jesus’s baptism, the Father (who is well pleased), the Holy Spirit (Dove that descended on Jesus), and the Son.

In the age of Grace (the church age), being baptized is a public declaration and admission you are a Christ follower and not ashamed of it. Some are “closet Christians” who are saved and may not publicly profess Jesus as their Savior for fear of being ostracized or rejected.

I cannot think of why a person would need to be baptized more than once in the church age. To become a member of a Baptist church (as I am), proof of baptism or admission is required to become a member. In my case, I had a vague memory of being baptized when I was maybe ten or eleven, but I was not 100% sure. So, it was recommended I be baptized, probably a second time, and I was.

Another thing that I find interesting I learned some years ago. I thought a priest, pastor, or clergy had to perform the baptism. I now believe your dad, a friend, a member of your congregation, or any born-again believer may baptize you.

As always, these are my personal thoughts.

Yes baptism is complete immersion, i was baptized at the sea.

Well, I can only tell you what the Bible says.

[1] John baptized people for the sake of repentance, not a turning from the Law.

[2] The Law was still valid until Jesus was resurrected from the dead.  In fact, Jesus followed the Law and encourage Israel to do so.

Does sound like encouraging the Law?

To me it sounds like teaching Grace not Law

John had same message as Jesus.

John 1

6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.

16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

I hope not for Jesus confessed to working on the Sabbath which is breaking the 4th commandment.

Jesus, being the ONLY Lord of the Sabbath, could do what he wished with that or any Sabbath and not sin.

I've been fishing for two weeks.   I do disagree with your summation of it though.

Let me explain a little more succinctly.

Neither John nor the disciples of Christ gave a believer's baptism.  Only after Jesus was resurrected was a believer's baptism conducted.

Until Jesus gave himself for us on that cross and was raised from the dead, the Law was practiced.  The gospel was preached of course, but the Law was not annulled until Jesus rose from the dead.

Jesus kept Feast Days,  told the Pharisees that they SHOULD tithe on things as small as cumin and mint [and also learn about mercy], Jesus parents' circumcised Jesus on the 8th day, offerings were made, and Jesus fulfilled the Law.  That means he kept it - perfectly.

After he rose from the dead, things were different - including baptism.

Thanks for clarifying, I guess I did not see this in the last post. This post I do agree with. I'm a little slow at times.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
