Well perhaps, then again there is the prayer with two requests, plus a warning about maligning, within Proverbs 30:

Two things I request of You
(Deprive me not before I die):
 Remove falsehood and lies far from me;
Give me neither poverty nor riches—
Feed me with the food allotted to me;
Lest I be full and deny You,
And say, “Who is the Lord?”
Or lest I be poor and steal,
And profane the name of my God.

Do not malign a servant to his master,
Lest he curse you, and you be found guilty.

My favorite of the Proverbs! The last portion you quoted in particular is exceedingly important. Pointing fingers has never been fruitful.

I think the people were not looking for the Son of God, but a human king that would throw out the Romans, and Jesus didn't fulfill what they were looking for.  I'm not sure that the Sanhedrin and Pharisees didn't know Jesus was the messiah because of the parable about the keepers of the vineyard killing the owner's son so they could keep things themselves.  Remember that they were not looking for a spiritual savior, but a physical one also.

This is where I stand on the matter. The views of the day were strongly colored by Israel's relationship with the Romans, and if you look at the way Jesus and the Pharisees usually interacted quite often Jesus referred to them as hypocrites and vipers. Driving out the money changers from the temple was another telling incident. To me this suggests that the dominant mood among them was that they'd taken on legalistic and materialistic attitudes rather than genuinely trying to please and follow God. Exceptions probably existed. Nicodemus at the very least seemed interested in learning. But the baseline picture painted of the religious leaders of the day isn't a very flattering one.

Even though there was much written in their scripture about Christ's first coming, so very few Jews actually knew it was taking place. The organized religion, the Pharisees and scribes, studied the word in such great detail, but they didn't get it.  So why didn't they know?

And will it be much different for His second coming?  Yes, it says "every eye shall see Him," but how many will actually know and be prepared beforehand?

Hi VA,

The `every eye shall see Him,` is at the end of the tribulation. The people of the earth will mourn, they will seek to hide in the rocks etc. Jesus will come with His mighty angels and land on the Mount of Olives.

`Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.` (Rev. 1: 7)

However, the Body of Christ will be caught away BEFORE the tribulation. The Lord will only come to the clouds and no further. We will be caught up to meet Him in the AIR. (1 Thess. 4: 14 - 18)

Two different occasions there for different purposes.

Now, as to who will know and be ready, it will be to those who are eagerly waiting for Him and not caught up in the world system`s affairs.

`...exhorting one another and so much the MORE as you SEE the Day (of the LORD in judgment) approaching.` (Heb. 10: 25)

The prophet Joel tells us what we will SEE approaching -

`Blow a trumpet in Zion,....for the Day of the LORD ...is at hand.....like the mourning clouds spread over the mountains, a people come, great and strong, the like of whom has never been; nor will there ever be any such after them, even for many successive generations.` (Joel 2: 1 & 2)

The media will show this great northern army coming down to the mountains of Israel. Those who are eagerly waiting for the Lord know that this is just before we are caught up to meet the Lord in the AIR.

Part of Jesus's response to John the Baptist is from Isaiah 61:1 and Isaiah 35:5-6. In Matthew 11:5, the dead are raised up; that is not in the Old Testament anywhere that the Messiah would raise the dead. It should be found somewhere, where is it? Matthew 11:5 lists the things the Messiah would do in His ministry. All things listed in Matthew 11:5 are quoted in the Old Testament, except for raising the dead. Where is the Messiah raising the dead found?

It is found in the Dead Sea Scrolls, which are mentioned in various places. This list of Matthew 11:5 appears in the Dead Sea Scrolls, and John the Baptist would have had access to them and had known about it. It is found in Messianic Apocalypse; 4Q521:

Fr2, col 2 “...because the heavens and the earth will listen to His Messiah, and none of them will turn away from the teaching of His holy ones [apostles, saints, Essenes]. Seekers of the Lord, strengthen yourselves for His service. If you maintain hope in your heart you will see the Lord! For the Lord will seek out the pious and call the righteous by name. His spirit will hover upon the humble, and he will renew the faithful with his power. He will glorify the humble upon the throne of an eternal kingdom. He will deliver the captives, give sight to the blind, straighten those bent down (twisted). I will always cling to those who hope in Him and await His mercy… and the fruit of ... will not be delayed for anyone. The Lord will perform amazing things that have never been done, just as He promised. He will heal the badly wounded and will raise the dead; he will preach the good news [Gospel] to the poor [humble] and... He will lead the uprooted [called out] ones. He will feed the hungry and…”

It would have validated, confirmed, and comforted John that Jesus was their Messiah.

It is interesting the Essenes suddenly disappeared from history at Jesus’s resurrection. It is thought they were absorbed into the church.

Fascinating.  I have never read any historical books available to Jews in Jesus' earthly ministry, only the cannon which was agreed upon much later.

How did you come across this?

Of course not.  The question is, will many religious people be unaware like at His first coming?

Study mainly.

Many assume few Jews of the time could read and write, and those who could read only read the Torah. Nothing could be further from the facts. Jesus, a poor carpenter from a town most Jews despised, as we know, could read. Most could read and write the common man’s language, Koine Greek.

The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls occurred just a couple of years before Isaiah’s prophecy was fulfilled: Isaiah 66:8 Who hath heard such a thing? Who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.

Some scholars believe the following verse is talking about the DSS: Isaiah 29:4 And thou shalt be brought down, and shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall be low out of the dust, and thy voice shall be, as of one that hath a familiar spirit, out of the ground, and thy speech shall whisper out of the dust.

The DDS gives us a snapshot of what the Essenes read, believed, and was essential to them. They read 1 Enoch, Book of the Giants, and other pseudepigrapha. The discovery of these scrolls was so profound that a Dead Sea Scroll Bible was produced. In addition, many mainline Bibles were reprinted, adding additional information. Many italics in the Bible were removed and filled in. The KJV now has footnotes that culminate from the DSS.

Not all canons (Bibles) are created equally. It is a long and complex topic on Catholics vs. Protestants arrived at our Bible, the different versions, etc., involving majority and minority texts, and more.

If you are interested in Bible versions, how they came about, and the texts used, I highly recommend a little booklet from Stewarton Bible School, linked below.

The website is safe, and the download is free. Years ago, I purchased one from them in booklet form, and it was only a few dollars.

Look what Christ said to Nicodemus "Jesus replied, “You are the [great and well-known] teacher of Israel, and yet you do not know nor understand these things [from Scripture]?"

That 2nd coming.. are we still here :) For us to be there we some how made it past worship the beast or die then take the mark or die. No I pray I am found worthy to escape all these things coming :) Because I trust in believe in Jesus Christ I am worthy.

But to answer you question no we don't know and are not ready. We can't tell you what the sweet sweet holy Spirit is doing right now today how can we know what's coming?  Each part of the body that believes they alone are the real body can't even get alone with each other. So with out love if you ask me the rest is in vain. So me I have no clue I just have been given today and thank Him for ever good thing that happens and I am ready now.

Hi @NConly Strikes me that there is indeed a vast difference between the merely religious and those who are characterized by a true exercise for Acts 2.42 interests and activities before the Lord: "And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers".

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
