They are really high! So is gas. So are homes. So are apartments.  So are pleasures and sins, why even church can be expensive if one wants the AC to run.

Production and demand drive prices. How many work the hours their  ancestors did to provide  far less goodies for themselves than is demanded almost as a right today?

How many have little gardens for their own produce? How may seek extra income doing piece work, or save metal for scrap, or do any of the things that were common procedure for generations past in order to have just basics of life? Who sat around waiting for a handout check while also sitting around watching QVC as example?

Back in the day our benefit package was don't get sick and miss a day's labor, as you might find someone has taken your place. Many lived by the  code 10 % off the top  went into savings and 10% off the top went to church. Didn't matter how little the 80%  bought, the rule to live by was save 10% for future needs, not for today's gratification coming by UPS from QVC.

The tale of the ant and the grasshopper has real application in real life for humans.

In this case inflation drives prices.  Supply chains destroyed drives prices.  Relentless government interference drives prices.  Very poor leadership drives prices.

Ha funny, but not necessarily apt.  The qualified widow and the orphan are to be cared for of course.  That is a given.

Will the poor today  glean the fields? Even if offered a share of the main harvest  or a share cropping opportunity will they  labor in it? Nope, they will sit and go hungry saying why me why me?

I happily  literally looked forward to gleaning the California fields, especially some 535 acres of it behind my little home- strawberries, cauliflower, summer squash, tomatoes. Plus, I  salvaged an old orange tree, from an abandoned grove, trimmed it, and nurtured it back to being very productive.

I also learned from an old couple of retired  laborer pickers from New Orleans  canning of peaches and tomatoes and green beans all picked for free by gleaning from the desert farms. Then we shared one with another and had a great time.

Flashback: Red a cool old gent a big old crusty looking man and  his wife a very very heavy woman. They would scavenge, and can, and work about their house all week, then splurge on a case of off  brand beer come Saturday mornings.

The first time Red came over and asked for "help getting Shellie back up" I was worried she had fallen (After the first time it was just a bit of a ritual). There she was  just sitting on the kitchen floor,  a near case of empty beer cans all around her. She was just giggling and couldn't get up to go, go to the bathroom.

Red grabbed one side of her, I the other, and we walked her up and forward.  Salt of the earth types, generous, loving people, their one pleasure or extravagance after a life of hard laboring was Saturday mornings at our humble little neighborhood homes.

As you might say I don't know why I am sharing of that.

It has been  wondrous adventure in good times and harsh times for over 80 years now.  But in truth about the harshest  of times, the one that took so much of my time  and energy in an unproductive manner was during the Trump administration's shenanigans. I don't wish to revisit that. No way! Praise God for getting us through it.

Well the odds are better when individuals vote their conscience rather than against what is perceived as the lesser of evils. It is still quite early in the game.

Time for a pregame invocation: The Vanity of Life

The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.

 “Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher;
“Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.”

What profit has a man from all his labor
In which he toils under the sun?
One generation passes away, and another generation comes;
But the earth abides forever.
The sun also rises, and the sun goes down,
And hastens to the place where it arose.
The wind goes toward the south,
And turns around to the north;
The wind whirls about continually,
And comes again on its circuit.
All the rivers run into the sea,
Yet the sea is not full;
To the place from which the rivers come,
There they return again.
All things are full of labor;
Man cannot express it.
The eye is not satisfied with seeing,
Nor the ear filled with hearing.

That which has been is what will be,
That which is done is what will be done,
And there is nothing new under the sun.
Is there anything of which it may be said,
“See, this is new”?
It has already been in ancient times before us.
There is no remembrance of former things,
Nor will there be any remembrance of things that are to come
By those who will come after.

 I, the Preacher, was king over Israel in Jerusalem.  And I set my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all that is done under heaven; this burdensome task God has given to the sons of man, by which they may be exercised.  I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind.

What is crooked cannot be made straight,
And what is lacking cannot be numbered.

I communed with my heart, saying, “Look, I have attained greatness, and have gained more wisdom than all who were before me in Jerusalem. My heart has understood great wisdom and knowledge.”  And I set my heart to know wisdom and to know madness and folly. I perceived that this also is grasping for the wind.

 For in much wisdom is much grief,
And he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.

May all be a blessing to God  even as each are also  to be blessed of God.

Dream on...

What took so much of your time and energy?  I thought Trump's term was smooth sailing, especially when you compare it to Biden's.  Covid was bad in both administrations.  I don't blame that on either of them.

I voted my conscience in 2 presidential elections, and some local ones, for third party/independent politicians. All I ended up with were wasted votes. Not doing that any more.

I strongly disagree with rfk jr on several issues and see him as just another democrat. I get it that you like him but I am surprised at how much you promote him on worthy.

Election Betting Odds places Kennedy at a 0.6% chance of winning the presidency.  That is slightly better than Pence at a 0.0% chance.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
