Americans are still known as The Ugly American in some countries.  Whenever I travelled to other countries and was asked where I was from, I told them that I was from Texas.  People I met were much friendlier after that.  Texas and the wild west are romanticized almost everywhere.  But now, who knows what the reception would be like.

Agreed..   But it isn't just the tariff issue that is affecting the Usa's reputation I think..  There are also several other things too..

For example :  

- The delibrate /repeated insulting of other people and countries (including Canada)

- The expansionist threats..  (such as against greenland etc)

-  The sudden / abrupt shutdown of vitally important humanitarian aid.. etc.  (instead of step by step.. or with more prior notice) 

 

These are some of the things affecting the Usa's current reputation I think.

In the long run.. this is not good for the Usa..

 

A hypothetical example :  Even if the trade wars were to end tomorrow.. but if ordinary people overseas were upset about the insults /offensive things said about their country.. they might potentially still not want to buy american goods.. *because* it is american goods...  So how would this benefit american companies?

If you mean USAID, it was not 'important humanitarian aid.'   The few valid operations (contracts) of USAID were transferred to the State Department, and the rest was scrapped.  It was an evil operation.

This is why I suggest never trusting the main stream media who want you to think it was all humanitarian aid.  What did DOGE cut with USAID that you think should still stand?  Do you know, because the main stream media won't tell you what was cut, but the DOGE website will.

Which insults, exactly?  

As for Greenland, I don't think the USA is planning an attack, but there is strong strategic reasons to have them join us, for both sides.  As for Canada becoming a state, that was about us just giving Canada a $200 billion dollar subsidy, annually, for no reason.  Trump said we reserve that for US states, and why not become one?  As for the Gulf of America, I think that was designed to bypass oil drill free zones that Biden established that would be hard to reverse because of executive orders backed by laws.  So the Gulf of Mexico became the Gulf of America.  Now we drill, baby, drill!

What do you expect from Democrat news sources?  In all, about 5200 contracts were cut, and 1000 were kept and put under the State Department.
