I know I have put this in a smaller forum and have asked a couple people in the Worthy Chat, but I have seen too many small discussions of people asking for help being taken over by people arguing this very topic. Yes, I am opening a can of worms I know, but know it is a question that is asked by many and there are still some things about this that I question.

Simply, what "ok"(i use that term lightly) before marraige? What is not "ok"? What is right and what is wrong, I guess would be a better one.

I also know that the bible says "flee fornication".. the next question is, what does term "fornication" really entail? Is it really just that three letter word that I can't find it in me post on these boards for all to see or is there more to it? What about kissing? Are there different levels to that? What about holding hands or hugging.. is that wrong too?

Does anyone have a bible verse?

Is there something to be weary of in the though life? If so, how does one deal with that?

Please dont make this into a discussion about when one is truly married. If someone wants, another thread can be started on that too. Not to belabore the point, does anybody know?

if it ignites a passion that is hard to resist going further with, if you are having difficulty with lustful thoughts taking control, then it's too far.

essentially, you need to refrain from anything that you wouldn't be willing to do in front of Jesus Himself... because everything you do IS in front of Jesus. He's always in that room watching every move you make. if you could see Him standing there, how far would you go? my guess is probably not much further than holding hands.

Cymba: Good rule of thumb. HOWEVER. Perhaps those unmarried persons should NEVER, EVER be 'in private' where temptations to do such things arise........

By the way, the Greek word for 'fornication' is 'pornea' which simply means 'sexual impurity.' ANY sexual impurity.

Sadly, the world today is so bombarded with seduction and vanity that it is necessary for christians to stand up in their own homes against these soughts of things. The accountability of parents on this issue cannot be taken lightly. I often tell my children that I am accountable to God for the way that they are raised - until they reach the age of understanding and can choose between right and wrong for themselves. It can be difficult at times, but we have to press in.

Here are some of the things that I consider OK:

1. children obey your parents in the Lord for this is right. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth. Ephesians 6:1 - 3.

2. Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

3. Among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality or of any kind of impurity or of greed, because these are improper for Gods holy people. Ephesians 5: 1 - 3

I also know that the bible says "flee fornication".. the next question is, what does term "fornication" really entail?

As Leonard wrote: 'By the way, the Greek word for 'fornication' is 'pornea' which simply means 'sexual impurity.' ANY sexual impurity'.

Romans 16:16 tells us to greet each other with a holy kiss. A holy kiss is pure and without motive or desire. Hebrew 13:1 exhorts us to keep on loving each other as brothers. We are in the family of God. We must realise that God comes first. That he should be the number one priority in our lives. If we do this, than everything else will be added to us.

I hope this helps. :)

Whenever you are together, consider our Lord to be there with you. That'll curb your appetites. :)

And if it's too hard to visualize the Lord in that way . . . consider your parents being there! :b:

As I understand it, fornicaton is sexual relations between 2 unmarried people. If at least one is married to someone else, then it's adultary.

But, to go deeper, if a married person even kisses someone else (not spouse), that is too considered "cheating," is it not? (The same can be said for boyfriend/girlfriend.)

Some Christians believe that to maintain holiness, they will not kiss until the wedding ceremony. I'm not sure I'd go that far myself or not. But I have decided to try to avoid kissing until engagement at least. For until the promise of marriage, I could be kissing some other woman's husband! :P (future tense, you know?) After engagement, though, the pledge is mine. But even then I know there neds to be guards against falling into temptation. Passions do flare easy! So, the "sucking face" routine is a bad thing in that regard, if you catch my meaning! :whistling:

Hope that helps!

And BTW - hands need to "keep to themselves" as well to avoid temptation.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
