I had just gotten into Social Studies...my first class of the day. I remember it seemed as though everyone was in particularly high spirits...until one of the guys rushed into the class (late) saying "Turn on the TV! Someone just bombed the States!!" There was a general commotion as our ever-tardy classmate was swarmed with questions ("Who did it?" "What did they hit?!" "Do they think they'll come here??"). After a few minutes, our teacher finally arrived. She was late because the principal had convened an emergency meeting of all staff to discuss how to ensure the student body didn't go into a panic. One of their tactics was to not let us turn on the TV (which I thought was dumb...fear of the unknown is usually worse than finding out what's going on, even if it's bad), much to our chagrin.

By the end of first block, everyone was talking about it. We all kept our voices low -- some out of respect, some in shock. We still weren't allowed to turn on the news on the school grounds, so (since we had a free block) three of my friends and I left in my vehicle to sit with the Jeep radio on at the park across from the school. I remember tuning the radio to CBC 1, the smell of school lunches (taken out to keep our hands busy...the alternative was biting fingernails), the grim sound of the announcer's voice, Kat clutching her rosary, while I thumbed the silver cross at my throat. Once we were done the better part of our lunches, we went back to the schoool where we held an impromptu prayer meeting. I don't remember my classes that day. After Social Studies, I don't even remember what I had. I went to a friend's place at lunch, and we saw, for the first time, the nightmarish images of the people who fell.

*sigh* Not many days are so poignant in my mind.

I was working on calculus homework in the Biology prep room (where I also work) at my community college just after calculus class. My boss came in (she was OK with me doing homework at the desk there - when she wasn't not there I could help lab instructors who need something that way), and she told me. Since CNN was on the campus TV screens, she let me run out and watch.

I got to the TV just before or just after word that Pentegon got hit. I recall the video switching from the Twin Towers to the Pentegon. It was on the Pentegon when the New York correspondant interrupted the talk to bring the video back to the Towers. I recall seeing one tower and a bunch of smoke . . . and as the smoke cleared the other tower was gone!

I am still feeling shadows of the horror I felt then as I saw it.

All those people who were still trapped inside. . . . :mgdetective:

"9.11" from a view in the Southern hemisphere. I guess all the drama occurred about quite late on the night of Tuesday Sept. 11 our time, though I think it was fairly early morning in NY.

I didn't actually hear about it until about 6.30am on the morning of 12 September. My daughter's 18th birthday was on 11 September 2001 and we were out celebrating her birthday that night, which would have been morning in NY.

At that time we had a family business selling and servicing computers and repairing TV sets and small appliances, my husband did the servicing and I did the paperwork and "booking in" and ran the shop. It was also our habit to watch the early morning news on CNN before going to work. The first I heard of the bombing was when I was walking towards the TV and saw footage of a plane seemingly going through the top of one of the buildings. At first I thought we were on the wrong channel and it was a movie.

I watched the whole news item and then kept switching channels to get more news on it. Then I went to work and stayed in the shop all day as there were no deliveries to make that day and no stock to go and get. We had several repaired TVs for sale so I displayed them around the shop and positioned them where I could watch them (I usually turned the sound off or down low and had the TVs facing away from me as during the day there is usually just soap operas on). All day I was bombarded with footage of destruction and smoke and flames and people kept coming into the shop to watch this and discuss what was going on.

So that was actually September 12. I don't remember what happened on the morning of Sept. 11 because it was just a Tuesday and the only thing significant at the time was that it was my daughter's birthday.

I was sitting in my living room that morning, drinking coffee, watching the Today Show.

My eyes were glued to the TV, from the time the first announcement was made and the pictures showed the reality of the happenings, from the first tower, then the second, the Pentagon and Flight 93 in Pennsylvania.

I suppose, especially the first week, I watched the news 24/7, unless at church. We had many special prayer meetings for the survivors, and the families of those that were lost.

Until this day, I watch whatever may be on TV of that terrible day in the now history of the United States of America.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
