truster..I feel diferently...

I have found that in the darkest of lifes situations God is my rock and my light and my fortress..

No matter how far down I have gone ...

He is my God....that makes eveything I face "fine"..

I know that all things are working towards good...thats "fine"

I do not believe it is a lie to ever tell someone I am "fine" when they do not want or need the "details" of my situations ..

because the "fine" is not in the little details ..it is my life in Him....

and that is "fine.."...and that is the truth... :o

Amen! Many times when asked how I am I respond with "Blessed!" because I am, no matter the circumstance.

A dear friend of mine used to say "highly favored of the Lord," even though he ws dying of leukemia.

I answer "No complaints" Yes I have problems, yes I have afflictions, yes life is not perfect, yes bad things happen, but I don't complain about those things, I may share with people for prayer or for understanding, but not always. If I give the answer "Ok" then ususally something is up and I'm waiting on the Lord.

how often do we meet someone in the doctors waiting room, ask them ( out of politnessof course ) "how are you " and get the answer "fine thanks" when if they really were fine they would not be at the doctors :)

If someone I know well asks me that question I just ask "are you my doctor?" so they know that they do not have to ask unless they REALLY want to know..and it is the truth to say I'm fine because there is ALWAYS someone who is worse off than yourself.

When asked does this dress make me look fat I am more likely to answer no...your fat makes you look fat...BUT these answers are for friends and family that know me well, ....... for aquaintances ..do they really want or need to know? or is it just the "polite inquiry requiring the polite answer and get on with your life " ?

Most of us have given the convienient answer rather than the truth ...and what about the inevitable essay set at the start of each term "What I did in my holidays" ..after reading my share of them I really do hope that most of the children were telling "lies"

Try telling the truth ..the whole truth ..and nothing but the truth for a day or a week and you will be suprised how hard it is. Our society is based on polite lies ...it may not be right to tell them but it is very hard to not do so.

Thank you Lord that you are the one that I can be TOTALLY honest with and that you know all my faults and forgive me :emot-crying:

I do believe that the "Thou shalt not bear false witness" is right up their fighting for first place with "Thou shalt not covet.

Much of our society is about lies and actually encourages lies. We do see this played out on the world stage (Iran wants nuclear power because they have no reliable sources of power - is that it?)

We see it in governments and we see it in the mirror.

There is very little reward for truth tellers these days. if we choose to make honesty a major force in our individual lives, it is very challenging to keep it up for very long.

I give Beth credit for making this a priority. Even if she is not there yet she is striving for a good finish.

That gets you some brownie points somewhere. :3::wub::thumbsup: huyep

I think very few people don't struggle with lies at one point or another. I will not outright lie and by any definition of the word, I am not lying. However, I will leave out parts of the truth to suit my needs. I think this is just as much a lie as what you described. So you are not alone, hopefully we will all learn to be a bit more honest!

And to spread a tiny bit of humour into this topic... the questions about "How do I look in this dress" brought back a memory for me, it was two moose in an animated film. The first one asked if this leaf made him look fat. So the second replies "No, your fat makes you look fat" :3:

The doomsday question.

"Do these pants make me look fat?"

Well it depends upon how you answer. See if they do make her look fat when she sees herself she will be mad you didn't call attention to the problem, yet if you said yes, she would feel you are telling her she's fat, right?

What if you just said 'Honey those pants do not flatter you at all. They look bulky in the front" Any woman who would be offended due to that reeaction would just need to be told not to ask anymore.

Of course my friends husband used to cause us all to wonder when she went out wearing something he did not like and he said "Is that the look you are going for?"

I'd like to know then, what people DO answer when asked "How are you?" or "Are you OK?" when it's obvious the person asking doesn't really want to know and would be horrified if you went into a detailed answer. All they want to hear is "Fine thanks"! Is that really lying (if you're not OK?) or is it just a formality like "Good morning"? :)

Typically, however I still don't say "Fine" if I'm not. "OH, hangin in, how bout you?" seems to leave it up to the person to see if they really want to know without being a burden if they don't.

Other favourites are "OH, I'm not dead yet"

"I've been worse" (usually true)

"Well as can be expected"

"Same as usual"

Whenever someone asks how I am and I'm not good i usually say that I'm "not too shabby". I don't think anyone really knows what that means (myself included, i heard it from this homeless man one time). lol

When I was converted I knew the joy of the Lord to a degree that it annoyed people, especially in the church I used to go to. One of the Pastors even preached a sermon against walking around smiling all the time. I smiled so much my face ached.

As the Lord was continuing the inner work providence brought many trials and the joy that upheld me was not mine, the joy of the Lord was my strength.

If someone had asked Peter how he was when he had denied the Lord three times, as he was standing weeping would he have answered,

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
