When it comes to worship music. I have to spin CD's or DVD's of praise music. What I like to do if the spirit is not moving me is to find out what the sermon topic is about and try to find songs that relate to the sermon. If the sermon and the songs don't match than I try to see if there is something special about the month. April is kind of easy to pick out songs that deal with the Easter Story of the last days and resurrection of Christ. December is pretty easy to figure out too. ITs the months in between that are little harder. But there is something you can probably find out about each month. Taking request is always good. But when ask for request ask why they want that song and maybe you can find a new theme. For example it might be someones birthday, to honor someones death, to honor marriage, to honor the military, or because these are songs that make me happy and feel like dancing. Maybe have a theme day with the music, this Sunday we are gonna sing good ole southern gospel songs, modern songs, songs that are scriptural based, songs about communion, songs about the cross, songs about heaven, read the history of certian songs and sing them.... just a few ideas to keep it fresh even if the holy spirit does not move you. Good singing

I'm a the praise leader at our church and I'm an entertainer..........my job at our church is to lead the people into the throne room of God and praise him. My job as an entertainer is to play my instrumental music to sell cds and give God the glory.

When I'm in a normal church service, I'm not there to entertain but to praise the most high. It's that simple.

I was in a church that during the musical worship portion the pastor came up and stopped the music. He said that the Spirit of Worship was not with the congregation. He has the congregation pray and individually repent of there sins and then he prayed over the congregation. Then the musical portion started again and what a difference it made.

This was a church with about 300 people. I dont know if that makes this a large church for most of you or not, but it was interesting that most of the congregation came in not ready to worship. If that is possible.

I really believe then people congregate to worship God, the need to focus on Whom they are there to worship. I feel that sometimes people will congregate just to check up on what others are doing, not there to focus on God. IMO.

Have a heart-to-heart with God about it! Then, as you may be given a confirmation that God has called you to do this thing, DO IT!

We don't always have to FEEL like doing it, but we are supposed to be doing what He calls us to do. Be obedient first. The Word says, "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you."

So--what is it you want? Motivation? Confirmation? Excitement in the Lord? A sense of purpose? Passion? Then seek first His kingdom, and obey God! All those issues will be settled as you obey! He will add the increase you need. :emot-highfive:

Obey the Lord is sound advice except for one thing, I need to know what the Lord wants in order to obey Him.

This is where a heart to heart talk with God comes in real handy.

But you know. If it was that simple, I wouldn't be struggling with it.

God wants my Faith, rather than my knowledge ... all too often I just don't know.......

Yesterday was a good example. The night before I was still struggling with the list of songs. In fact I was so dissatisfied with it, I almost called the pastor to say i'm calling it off and they should do without music. In the morning I took everything with me including a big list of songs I couldn't choose from.

The holy Spirit practically moved my finger over the list, song after song.... it was one of the best worships we had in a long time.

Go figure

Come to think of it.... why should I conceder all this a problem ?

I keep seeing this picture of an ice skater trying to move on the ice while holding the skiis striaght.... no friction... no movement.

As soon as the skiis are turned a bit, there is friction and with it, movement forward.....

Friction.....problem....tribulation..... is that what it's there for? to move us forward?

I must thank you all.

Your responses are a real blessing.

True, worship should be Spirit based yet the Lord did say:-

Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! (Psa 133:1)

Sounds like this thread

While referencing this topic, I came across a letter I wrote to Abba, our Father in Heaven

I do that sometimes and this particular letter seems relevant to the topic even though it is dated Jun 4th 2005

Abba,

I want to thank You for what You are doing in my life. Sometimes so suttle I can

just about see it's You and all this through the constant bombardment of lies

from the enemy. Thank You for being there for me and carrying me in Your wings.

The worship today was meant for You and as You saw, it wasn't quite like that.

We were all burdened with one thing or the other and couldn't focus on You, even the

music was kind of heavy, at least until someone said out aloud what we were all

feeling and actualy prayed for You to be there with us. You came at our call and

the rest of the meeting was as You want it to be.

I must confess my part of this heaviness. My "contribution" was having the music

I was playing evolve around me, that is, after someone mentioned it being heavy I

actualy tried doing something about it. That is not Your way. I realize now that

You want us to come as we are and if we are carrying heavy feelings or thoughts,

we need to bring it before You and lay them down at Your feet. You asked us to

do that in several places in Your scripture. So in spite of what we were all

doing, You came to us and poured Your grace over the meeting.

What You were saying, through our pastor was that we cannot get to You the Father

directly. We need to go through Yeshua, that is the only way to You Father and

as I'm writing this, I notice again that I am talking about Your son and not to

him or with him...... I pray again Abba, that You help me with this........

You Abba, ARE the Son too and I must confess it has no logical grip with me but

I want to talk with You - Yeshua.

I ask that You show me how to create a relationship with You...how to accept

Your relationship.... how to see You as who You really are. Yeshua, let this be

a start for me...a restart of our relationship that was most likely always there

but I didn't see it. Let it be a new begining for me.

It's confusing for me to call You Abba and Yeshau at the same time.......... and

we haven't got to the Holy Spirit yet......

Abba, if You want me in a relationship with You, and I know that You do, show me the

way. Light the path for me. Shine Your light in my life so I can reflect it on to others.

That is what You actualy want don't You? You want my salvation so I can be part

of that light that You are throwing out to all nations. Pouring the light

through us........... so that in the end, our salvation is not just a closed little

circle, salvation for us and that's all. It's bigger, it should go forth, out

and beyond till it reaches everyone on earth.

So I need to realize that my salvation isn't about me. It's about You and Your

body in Yeshua.

And You Yeshua, I see you as such a quiet entity, so quiet that it makes it

clear that You are not about words....You are about action and action in a sense

of living our lives through and with You.

Thank You Yeshua for being here for me.......... Thank You Abba...........

Amen :o:emot-hug::madgrin:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
