Why did Jesus drink wine?

There wasnt exactly a nearby 7-11 handy with a supply of soda pop in Jesus time. They drank what was available and wine was one of the drinks available. Many, many, many scolars have argued whether or not wine at that time was alcohol or not. Does it really matter? I dont think so. What matters is our personal relationship with God. You have many choices of drinks available today. You certainly dont have to drink wine.

Has anyone studied these few scriptures?? Every time this question comes up, these verses come to mind along with many that seem to equate acohol with violence .........

Pro 31:4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:

Pro 23:31 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his color in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.

Eze 44:21 Neither shall any priest drink wine, when they enter into the inner court.

Yes, Jesus drank wine but it wasn't wine like we know it. It was crushed grapes.

John 2:9When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

10And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

I hate the taste of alcohol, too.

So I don't bother with it.

The drinking of wine back then in Israel was probably more like what they do in countries like Spain, where a glass of wine at meals is normal fare, and there are no age restrictions. But getting drunk is still frowned upon, and most people, as I understand it, don't.

If you are underage, then you should not drink wine, as it is against the law of the land.

If you are of age, then it is still against Scripture to get drunk.

Yes it is true that Jesus drank wine, but he also wore only sandals and walked everywhere He went. Would you wear nothing but sandals and use only you feet for transportion using the same argument? I would hope not!

So, from one alcohol-hater to another, don't bother with the stuff.

Maybe he liked it. There is nothing wrong with enjoying what God has given you. And here we have one more example from Jesus on how we can enjoy it with out sinning.
