they were called indians until the politically correct people showed up.

and they really aren't native to this land--if you believe the adam and eve story of the Bible.

Wow. Hatred.

Sad, very sad indeed.

They were called "Indians" because Columbus thought he discovered India. "Indian" is a mislabel from the start. So why treat the removal of a false label as evil?

wow. how do you get hatred out of that? indian may have been a mislable, but that doesn't mean it's evil. i am a native American. i was born in America. my parents were born in America. my grandparents, my great grandparents and my great great grandparents. my ancensters came here in the 1600's. how much more native can i get? the fact is that "native" Americans migrated to this country at some point in time--just like we did.

i only stated facts. if you get hate from that, that's your problem, not mine. it's like stating that homosexuality is wrong. some people see that as hate. if christians see stating facts as hate, we are in a world of trouble!!

My husband is mostly American Indian and has done extensive resurch on them. He found that they rather be called American Indians instead of Native Americans because 'American' first in the title. It is kinda like showing that America was theirs first. More like a statment thing.

(And please don't call them "Indians" - that isn't really who they are.)

Who are they?

Native Americans

I've been an indian for almost 53 years. I was born in this country, that's what makes me a native american. Anyone else born in this country is a native american. That's how I see things.

Native American is a politically correct title, nothing more. I'm not ashamed of my heritage. I don't blame the white man for any woes that come upon me. I don't feel sorry for myself. Yeah, the indians got a raw deal, but that was then. It's time to move forward. Nobody's holding anybody back. Nobody's in bondage. There's still alot of prejudice out there, but there's alot of opprtunity too.

Instead of looking to the past and saying "Look what they've done", we need to look to the future and say "Look what we can do".

You can't drive a car if you're staring in the rearview mirror.

I appreciate your dedication to the "Native" people, but feeling sorry for them doesn't do them any good.

To preface I grew up in South Lake Tahoe, I have never met my birth father, as he is on the reservation and thats another long story.

You have obviously never been on some of the reservations. I have been on 2, the Hopi, and the Navajo. Your partially right, some of the larger tribes are doing fine, moving forward building up things and making progress. On the other hand many, many live with no running water, no electricity, dirt roads and land bereft of nutrients for growing things. Still using wood and unrefined coal to heat their houses. In many cases It is very similar to a third world living conditions. If a young person decides to leave the reservation for a better life he/she is often ostracized and cast out as a deserter. Reservations have some of if not the highest teen suicide rates in all of America. All this right here in the states.

As for the rear view mirror, sadly it goes both ways. In Idaho when I was researching my people, as my father was never around to teach me I found out there are still small feuds caused by the non American Indians, Native American, First people, what ever that live on and around the reservation. There are still people who have grudges on their shoulders because their great, great, great, great grandpa was killed in a war with the first people, or by a raid or what not.

Its not a good picture and it happens under the radar. You see their plight is such that they are one of the few people groups that have a less then 1 percent Christianity due to lack of people bringing the gospel. One of the true unreached people groups, right here in America and yet few even care to help.

So this is much more then some of the other issues that are hot button issues in America due to race. I agree some people sit back and blame their heritage on them not being able to succeed, when there is no real obstacle for them to do so other then the grey matter between their ears. However in this case this is not the issue.

so sorry for continuing the thread hijacking, I shall go back to the hair.

Ugly or not, I don't think its sinful unless its done as an act of rebellion!

Brother William, your post was beautifully done and as I read my mind my thoughts were on glorious images of lights and colors. Ahhh - to dwell on the mind's limited concept of God's throne room with the heavenly host is humbling indeed. But, now it's over and I must return to the mundane here on earth. Thank you, my friend, for that brief respite, and that well thought out study.

Been thinking about this - did you grow up on a reservation?

I know what's on the reservation, I've seen it.

i love the way how some here are using excuses to justify reasons for men to have long hair.

whether it's historical, Paul's "perception", or not meant for us.....; one cannot avoid one scripture:

1 cor 11:14 "Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?"

then do tell....WHAT IS LONG HAIR?

i think you want to aim your frustration and questions at the bible.

you must have long hair?

All I can do is present what scripture says. There isn't a hair police going around with a ruler.

Just because you question the bible on not being specific of length does not give it a pass to override scripture.

"it never says a length therfeore it does not matter."

You obviously have never been on some of the reservations either, seeings how you've only been on two.

These kind of statements hurt your cause more than help it. If someone is basically disowned because they want to better themselves, where does the fault lie? It sounds like they're holding themselves in bondage.

You must have missed this.

There's still alot of prejudice out there,

Its not a good picture and it happens under the radar. You see their plight is such that they are one of the few people groups that have a less then 1 percent Christianity due to lack of people bringing the gospel. One of the true unreached people groups, right here in America and yet few even care to help.

How do you help someone who doesn't recognize that they need it? I've seen what's out there. I know what the living conditions are like on some these reservations. I've actually been to quite afew. (more than 2)

So this is much more then some of the other issues that are hot button issues in America due to race. I agree some people sit back and blame their heritage on them not being able to succeed, when there is no real obstacle for them to do so other then the grey matter between their ears. However in this case this is not the issue.

You need to educate yourself on this topic. Go out and live with them for awhile. Spend a few decades listening to what their saying and what their feelings are concerning people outside their race. And it's not just white people that they separate themselves from, they look at other tribes as being outsiders. They don't trust anybody and that's nobody's fault but their own. They need to learn to let go of the past.

I don't place all american indians is this catagory because I know better. I seen my fair share of what's out there and I've listened to what's being said. The American Indian are a proud people and sadly, in most cases, it's that pride that's holding them in bondage.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
