Shalom Jackie,

I went to the Blue Letter Bible and found some DIFFERENT than you posted. It does not most commonly mean to "march about." And in this context, (if you'd read the WHOLE chapter of Jeremiah you'd see), the prophecy is speaking of the Virgin Birth of the Messiah and the restoration of Israel.

I would not lie about such a thing, that's a promise  I tried to copy and paste so that there wouldn't be a question but it won't let us...

Jeremiah 31:22

Jer 31:22 How long will you gad about,

O you backsliding daughter?

For the LORD has created a new thing in the earth--

A woman shall encompass a man."

This verse within chapter 31 of Jeremiah is referring to the "Restoration of the NATION of Israel" in the future. The previous chapters in Jeremiah are talking about the restoration back to the Lord. The chapters after chapter 31 speaking of chapters 32-33 is dealing with the rebuilding of Jerusalem and a confirmation once again to Israel of the future restoration under the new covenant promises that was yet to come through Jesus Christ.

Here is some other verses

ch. 2:18,23,36

ch. 3:6,8,11-14,22

The future restoration of Israel actually starts at chapter 30

OC

I like it I do, and I'm not disagreeing with you OC...but the word compass has a meaning. Restoration is not a new thing in the earth...so what is the new thing being created? a woman shall encompass a man...that is what I'm trying to figure out...how exactly is a woman encompassing man here?

Read post #17 as I added more to that post. No restoration is not a new thing as it has been here from the very beginning and started after the fall in the garden so you are correct in that truth. The new thing that was being created was the New Testament covenant which would have better promises than the first covanent had as the first covenant could not make anyone righteous before God because their was no law given in the old covenant that the children of Israel could follow and do to be made righteous washing away their sins. But the new covenant through the death of Christ on the cross would make one righteous before God having our conscious sprinkled by the blood we became clean and freed from the bondage of sin.

As I added in to post 17 the nation of Israel was always referered to a woman in scriptures like in the book of Hosea Israel was refered to an aduterous woman and a harlot who was fornicating on God in the relationship by running off and joining themselves unto sin leaving their husband as we are married unto Christ. This also is taught in the new testament as the woman in the scriptures in referring the the bride of Christ the (woman) and we are joined and married to Christ Jesus through the new covenant by accepting Christ as our Saviour being our husband (the man) so once again this union and reconciliation in the relationship with God comes in the new thing being the new testament covenant and Christ blood that was shed.

thank you OC for helping me with this.

I'm considering if this doesn't indeed have to do with a woman encompassing a man, in maybe an angel-like measure as some might have ability... and in a redeemed sense as it applies. As though this has been hidden territory requireing light, and may welcome some knowledge to answer some nervous though needy inquires regarding male and female capacities in the light of the new covenant, for the male and female relationship had been awkward constitutionwise pending further knowledge, possibly of such things. If the scripture mentioned is dealing with a 'pattern' of a relational restoration, I hear in it a solution from God giving assurance from the frustrations that caused the backslideing. That there are answers up ahead. I'd be pleased to be corrected if need be.

no correction coming from me...please continue...I really want to study this and search for the truth in this statement that was spoken so passionately from the Lord to Jeremiah! It excites me...why hasn't anyone looked at this?? I mean I have a real and honest desire to see it and search the Lord about it. Please don't stop! There is nothing set in stone regarding this particular verse..but will you tell me, have you ever really noticed it?

2. Jeremiah says, "The Lord hath created [bara] a new thing in the earth." Bara is the word used five times in Genesis 1 to denote God's creative activity during the six days of creation. Nearly all of its remaining forty occurrences in the Old Testament also refer back to these six days (5). The word distinctly means "create" rather than "make"

thank you OC for helping me with this. :emot-handshake:

To me it is my understanding that this new thing being the reconciliation back to God through Christ in which both the Jews and Gentiless are both united in Christ into one body making up the church which is what we read and are taught in the book of Romans and Ephesians mainly. Now that is one fulfillment of the prophecy. But there is also a future fulfillment that we read about in Revelation dealing with the nation of Israel as the New Jerusalem comes down out of heaven as a bride adorned for her husband. The saints will ride with Christ on white horses as Christ will make war with the beast. Also you read where Satan and his army will be destroyed as the Lord will destroy them with a wall of fire. And the Jews will ride with Christ as their was 144,000 was sealed in their foreheads. I am not wanting to take your thread into prophecy but their is yet a further future prophecy recorded in the new covenant that the nation of Israel will play a part in as I only gave tid bites so I hope you can follow my thoughts. The word compass means to me to encircle to surrond and conquer, but I do not know, if any of my thoughts have any validity to them so readers take them or leave them as I am a studemt of the word as well. But I do know the nation of Israel has a future role to play in the end-time events that is yet to come to pass.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
