My answer was to be of service to others and to be fed.

I clicked "Because Scripture demands it." In the beginning, like the day after I got saved, the chaplain told me to attend chapel services for that very reason. But it wasn't long before I longed for Sunday to get here so I could hear the Word and fellowship with other like-minded believers. Today I love church for a variety of reasons.

Thats the first time I have seen that, thanks for posting it. I copied and pasted it to a document. I like it a lot. Would like to use it sometime in a Bible study, if you think that would be alright?

You are welcome to use it. I told my Pastor I posted it here...He was very embarrassed. :emot-questioned: But he said it is OK. His name is Pastor Glenn Dunn.

Sadly, there are many people who have negative experiences in churches, often because of the types of churches they choose to join. After one or two negative experiences they become shy and tainted toward the church. They want to protect their feelings and fear commitment. I have a friend who has been married twice and then dated a girl for 12 years without marrying her. Ask him about marriage and he says, "I've done that rodeo, and got throwed twice." We rob ourselves of what got has for us out of desire to control the process or looking for a fantasy match. Back to the issue at hand, we have to ask ourselves some critical questions, "Am I looking for the wrong kind of church, or expecting church to be something it is not. Am I a good memebr of the church versus is the church meeting my needs. Am I failing to realize what my role suppose to be in the church that God has sent me to?"

I voted because Scripture demands it. That's not the ONLY reason I go to church now but there have been times in my walk with God that it was the only reason. It's about obedience. Not forced obedience but I love God and want to do what He wants me to.

i voted "to be spiritual fed" cos:

1. I cant do the others in a church that serves yucky food. Give me good food and I will do the rest.

2. Most of them can be accomplished outside of church.

Let's look at these questions.

Am I looking for the wrong kind of church? In my mind, absolutely not.

m I expecting church to be something it is not? I'm looking for a church that follows the Bible, and obviously, that will be based on my viewpoint of scripture.

Am I a good member of the church versus is the church meeting my needs? I'm not a member of any church, but even if I was, why is it wrong to expect a church to meet my needs? Why can't I be a good member and why can't the church meet my needs at the same time?

Am I failing to realize what my role is supposed to be in the church God has sent me to? I wasn't aware God sent me to a church. Every church I ever attended came as a result of my visiting differen't churches till I found one I liked. I have never had a voice speak to me and tell me to go to this church or that church. How does one determine God sent them to a specific church?

I find it hard to believe there are no KJV only Holiness churches around. Evidently, there are some other criteria that you are not mentioning that you are not mentioning or that you are subconsciously unaware. Maybe you need to ask yourself if your criteria is right or simply an unfounded in Scripture and just a sole preference. The number one mistake IMO people make about churches is one of preference and based on consumerism. I like what I like. You are apart of worthy, my observation, your opinions run against the grain very often. But you are loved and appreciated here, and it is a productive relationship. Church is often the same way. We need people thinking outside the box to keep us honest. The local body of believers is often the same way.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
