I just think you are being a little hard on them.

They truly are doing the best they can with what they have.

You really should learn how complicated the weather is.

Why, I can scarcely handle the job I have. :emot-hug: I sincerely have nothing against the people working for the weather bureau; they're just doing what they're told, but when whoever is running the operation continues giving out erroneous information it produces the effect of a Chicken Little saying "The sky is falling" which results in many not believing them, and in this case I believe it was 24,000 who didn't. If they could just honestly warn everyone of the general direction and strength of the storm, more would start using their own discernment and probably make wiser decisions.

Um... I was monitoring the weather reports closely, since Ike might have come our way - that's what the weathermen did.

Rescuers said they had saved nearly 2,000 people from waterlogged streets and splintered houses by Sunday afternoon. Many had ignored evacuation orders and tried to ride out the storm. Now they were boarding buses for indefinite stays at shelters in San Antonio and Austin.

Lets pretend it is your house Larry or perhaps your family member that dies..

I think you would be whistling a different tune..

More like "what is wrong with our government that they did not get them out of there.."

would be my guess..

I personally can't believe this thread... and I can't believe I am posting in it.. :24:

I think it is because I am so disappointed "The sky is falling: The sky is falling " even exists... :24:

To all concerned I apologize for thinking exaggeration is not helping the situation; I still don't. I've been through a hurricane, tornado, and earthquakes. They are all bad, and I am thankful for any warning afforded us; our present satellite warning systems are great. May I ask your opinion as to why 24,000 remained in the area if they thought they really were going to die, or is it that they don't believe true science or the word of those telling them these things? If you think I'm saying these things to make fun of those suffering you are wrong.

Without asking them, it is only a guess. So here are a couple of mine.

1) Not smart enough to heed a warning.

2) Liked the excitement.

3) Afraid of looting.

4) Could not leave for one reason or another, though wanted to.

5) Didn't believe it would be bad.

6) Threw a party.

7) Felt invincible.

8) had an attitude of Been there, done that ... no worries.

9) Hoped they would die.

Just to name a few that pooped into my mind.

You say........

If they can force people out of their homes every two weeks, why can't they just close down that part of the U.S and turn it into a National Park or something?

This is very upsetting to me! most people can't even afford to stay in their homes due to the economy. How could you be so callus. Its a good thing we have weather technology these days. Unbelieveable! Do you have any idea how many people still to this day are unable to rebuild there homes, im sure you have a roof over your head, what have you done to help the people who have been wiped out do to "weather". What about the people who live in Tornado ally are they surrposed to just up and leave there homes too! You need to have some compassion for the people who live in these areas, obviously you have never lived there, or have been through anything of this kind.

I am sorry you can't understand that I am not against the people in those areas. I was speaking rhetorically trying to bring out a point, but I'll drop all defence of my position.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
