What does God say about saving for retirement? What wisdom has God has given you concerning this? I'm kind of 'on the fence' about this.

The way politicians do, no one but the rich will be able to save anything. They will take everything in taxes. Count on it if Obama gets in.

The Lord puts the answer to these things in our hearts as to how to prepare for the future. Keep asking Him to guide you and believe that He will. He is the only one who knows what it will be like when it comes time for us to retire, and then again, I have heard that we are never to retire. Anyway, may the Lord give you wisdom for the right path.

I think that it's wise to save up for retirement so that you don't become a monetary burden on your children.

but the sinner

These are some verses Jesus led me to: the first verse is the first one He led me to. The rest are not in any order. When I read them I keep hearing God say, "If you will give me your everything, I will be faithful for your everything"

Luke 12: 13-21

13 And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.

14 And He said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?

15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man

there is no such thing as retirement......

I have already been tired,

I have already been tired again, (retired)

and I am still tired......

seriously though, we that are living for Christ never retire.

once a minister always a minister (unless defrocked) but there is no such thing as retirement, and the Bible does not speak of it as far as I have found.

it has already been said that we should not be a burden to our children.... the Bible does tell us that we need to be setting up for out grandchildren (not our children) I know several pastors and others that have trust funds for their grandchildren.....

we need to think about the Blessings that the Lord has placed upon us..... what are we to do with them? several men i know have preached up until the day they passed on..... one man, was preaching easter morning service, and went home while behind the pulpit, saying there would be no greater joy then to go home while he was praising the Lord, and he shouted a praise and fell to the floor....

God granted this man his request.....

I have "retired" from the military, but only took a month off to drink coffee and relax, then landed three jobs in the first week i was looking, since then, have been offered many jobs and have had several, for different reasons, getting ready to start a new career at that, at the ripe young age of 50 being i have 70 more years ahead of me (IAW Gen 6.....)

You're right Iryssa-I certainly don't want to burden my daughter that way, or any way. And Mr&Mrs MikeIrish-I'm like you.I'll keep working, no matter what.

It's just tough to balance living in the here and now, with planning for a future I can't know and then trusting my plan for the future to work out. God does know my future, so I trust in Him.

God has been asking me a lot of questions about the 'worldly wisdom' I've been taught to believe as true my whole life. He's challenging me to find His truth in the various 'truths' I've been taught by man. I'm an American by my first birth, so I've been raised to believe in the American truths, values, and way of life. Since my second birth, I'm a citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven and I live according to the truths, values, and Jesus' way of life. And not all that I've been taught as an American lines up with what I'm learning about being God's daughter. I really want to become holy like God and separate myself from the world as He is. I want to be in the world as Jesus was when He was here.

For example, in America, voting is our right and our privilage. We are taught to cherish this right. In other countries, there is no voting at all so these people have no opportunity to change their circumstances via this method. God's way of effecting change must transcend the many governments. He simply will not be limited by the ways and means of man. The Gospel is His way of effecting change. And we, as Christians, bring His Gospel to those in all our various jobs, volunteer activities, etc. But it isn't just words we speak, it's howwe live. So, I'm learning how to line up how I live with His Gospel. There are many things I'm now questioning. Saving money is just one of them. So, I guess I'm digging to get at the root of what I've been taught about saving money. Is this Godly wisdom taught to man, or this worldy wisdom passed off as Godly wisdom?

God gave even the squirrels sense enough so store food for hard times. They even seem to sense harsh winters. Birds he gave the ability to go to where food is available most of the time.....

Why would we be any different from the rest of creation. He gave you common sense to use.

Planning for retirement is not a bad thing....... retiring from work if you can manage will give you much more time to be a worker for the Lord and do those things your church needs that most just don't have the time for......

Storing for the end times...... well that's another whole different thread.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
