I'm glad you asked. I've come up with a new way of dealing with atheists, especially if they're scientific minded. You may need to educate yourself, unless you're in HS or collage you probably know this already. I had to listen to many hours of academic lectures on U Tube. Instead of telling them what you believe is right, show them where their beliefs are wrong or questionable and why. Above all do it in love. Do not argue. When they get hot under the collar, walk away. Talk another day. First, thoroughly educate yourself on the fact that evolution was never proven. It really wasn't. The missing links were never found. But don't open yourself to attack by mentioning creation. Leave that for another week. Just quote proof evolution is an unproven theory. That one is easy. The Big Bang favors us. Why? Before the BB physicists assumed the universe was created as is. Stars don't move nor do other galaxies. It was assumed the universe always existed, as is, and always will. The BB said the universe had a beginning. This created a huge problem for physicists. To make the problem worse, the whole universe, from the galaxies down to the quarks, exist in a mathematical perfection. So do plants and animals. Even our cells and DNA have mathematical perfection. I just learned this, but my old brain forgot what it's called already. Such perfection simply cannot occur at random. Even Stephen Hawking admitted that. But, say the physicists, if we assume there are millions or billions of universes, then we can assume one of them is perfect by chance. What luck it just happens to be ours. (sarcasm) But String theory is nothing but un provable equations. In fact to make the equations balance the math dudes had to postulate the existence of things that can't be proven. If you ever meet someone who went to another universe and returned, and then he duplicated the experience, PLEASE post it all over the Net. But you won't have to because it will be in the NY Times, and many scientific magazines. Until that happens, other universes are fantasy. Educate yourself on this. Since we know of only 1 universe, for it to have mathematical perfection means an intelligence must have created it. At this point they will tell you about space gods. But who created the space gods? Other now extinct space gods. Who created them? Now we get into infinite regression, and science dudes hate infinite anything. It's more logical that one God created all the perfection of the universe instead of an infinite number of space gods. There's also no real proof of black holes. (they hate this, so tread lightly) There never will be. Consider this. Even if you could fly into space and get close enough to a black hole to have absolute proof it's real, it will pull you in and you and your crew will die. Again, black holes are equations that atheists love because they don't want to believe in God. But don't tell them that. Rather than letting them attack your beliefs in God, you be the one to refute their beliefs. Because truthfully, these scientists have faith in what they say are facts. They aren't facts. They have equations that only balance because they assume something else is real. Change the words assume or postulate, to Have Faith In. Get it? They have faith black holes are real. They have faith other universes are real, therefore the equation balances. Even a young Albert Einstein did this. Although I'm still studying him. But when he said a ship traveling faster than light would travel forward in time, he assumed time moved at the speed of light. He had faith in that assumption. However, time isn't real, except to us mortal beings. God gave us the Sun and Moon so that based on their movements we could organize our lives. But time isn't a dimension. Only the Now exists. Change occurs so time seems real. Maybe God could go back in time, but He wouldn't. If He did, He would violate our free will. God seems to consider the free will of His creations as sacred. If God was willing to violate free will, why not go way back and create Lucifer without pride? But God won't do it. I tell you the truth. Time is not a real thing. But I think Einstein later dropped his ideas of time travel. When you talk to the atheists, don't mention Einstein. To them Einstein is almost god. You can mention Hawking or other present day physicists. And of course, until they're willing to admit you may indeed have a point, don't mention God. I bet you'll find this is more effective than quoting scripture. If you do this, let me know how it works. Be sure to educate yourself first. You have to approach them on their grounds, not ours.

Gentiles become Jews when they accept Christ? I thought we became children of God, or Christians. If I adopted a Chinese child, would he cease to be Chinese? I understand we are grafted in. One would have to be born Jewish to be Jewish.

Hello, fellow Christian: Scriptures talk about not giving babes meat. thus said one can not know everything there is to know about being Christian, regardless of how long, one has been a Christian. the Bible is read through my fleshly eyes a lot. But with study ,more Spiritual things are revealed. one reason the Bible is called the LIVING WORD, is that a verse I read yesterday may have a different meaning today, Not that the Word itself changes, but as I see it changes. so grow in the Lord. just be thankful God didn't make man the Judge who gets in or not. we are saved by grace through faith, not on our knowledge of His Word. that comes with maturity as we grow

Perhaps it has something to do with what the writer of Hebrews states: 10) We have an altar, of which they have no right to eat who serve the tabernacle. 11) For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. 12) Wherefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His Own Blood, suffered without the gate. 13) Let us go forth therefore to Him without the camp, bearing His reproach. 14) For here we have no continuing city, but we seek one to come. 15) By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His Name. Hebrews 13:10-15 The writer of Hebrews states that Jesus suffered without the gate Hebrews 13:12, and we see in the following verse we as His followers are to bear His reproach, so that we don't seek earthly Jerusalem but the Heavenly Jerusalem; Hebrews 12:22-23. IMO this is why the Temple in Ezekiel is outside the City.

Jesus said "you read the scriptures cause in them you think you have life" (well that's true) "But they are them that speak of me." Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. They have been saying these things for years and the reason is because sound doctrine nullifies their preaching. No Joyce, no Benny, no Kenny, no Rick, no Bill, no emergant church no ecuminism if we bring the bible into it all. Well, sound doctrine that is. There is a simple perspective about these things. Sound doctrine magnifies our Lord and gets our eyes and hope on things above, notice how their preaching gets our eyes and hope on things of this world. Temporal mindedness. Sound doctrine lifts our eyes and directs our faith in the Lord no matter what condition we find our life in, false doctrine sets our eyes on the temporal and directs our faith in faith connecting our faithfulness to the material elements of this world.

All such statements are making it clear that they believe and are teaching their own doctrine which is "that we do not need the knowledge of the truth of God found in the scripture in the bible. Which is a false doctrine being taught by all who would say such. It is another gospel that is not of God. Apostle Paul assured and had reminded young Timothy of these very words... "And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus...All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is "profitable" for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: (2 Timothy 15-16). Romans 15:4 - For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. There is more to the gospel than just having a big celebration party all in the name of love. Doctrinal teachings do divide and always will. The things that Jesus taught divided. The truth of the gospel will always divide when it is taught. Sadly there are leaders who would like to keep the flock of God dumb downed so that we will be lead and follow along blindly. I personally can't do that a ditch is no place for me to end up.

3) For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine: but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4) And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. II Timothy 4:3-4 Paul speaks of this time coming when sound doctrine, will not be endure, and many will be lead away from the truth of Christ into what are just fables, being taught by many so called men of God. Paul even told Timothy of being..nourished up in the faith and of good doctrine...I Timothy 4:6. And reminds Timothy of his doctrine, II Timothy 3:10. So my thought is this, it is just a sign of a great apostasy that is happening today, for sound doctrine in the simplicity of Jesus Christ is much needed; II Corinthians 11:3; Galatians 3:1-5.

According to Scripture "doctrine is the very basic supply of all life" Deut 32:2 2 My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass: KJV So as the fulfillment of Scripture the created thing (above) pointing to The Creator (below) Prov 4:2-5 2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law. 3 For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. 4 He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live. 5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. KJV As the very depth of this pointing is embed into The Father, Son and Holy Spirit John 7:16-17 16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. 17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. KJV Based on all this I cannot see in which anything is to be considered unimportant to doctrine but rather the sins of the people wrapped around the doctrine that brings ambiguity to the topic... I agree fully. Not everyone uses the term "doctrine" the same way. Most will follow the generic meaning, from dictionary.com: 1. a particular principle, position, or policy taught or advocated, as of a religion or government: Catholic doctrines; the Monroe Doctrine. 2. something that is taught; teachings collectively: religious doctrine. 3. a body or system of teachings relating to a particular subject: the doctrine of the Catholic Church. If the ones who said this is speaking with this understanding of the term, then the speakers are correct. Pet doctrines of a denomination, which are either extra-biblical doctrine or twisted scripture, do divide. If they are talking about the foundational doctrine of salvation, they are wrong, yet I am not not sure what the speakers are referring to.

It all depends on how you define "doctrine". So the question is moot. If you don't agree with my doctrine, yours is wrong sort of thing....

There are references to the Angel of the Lord in the OT, which are believed to be referring to the Messiah. The Hebrew word translated as angel, malak, may also be translated as messenger. There are beings, messengers, angels. And Jesus is God, not the being, angel. But, Jesus as Messiah and Prophet, is a messenger. For example: Exodus 22:8And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. 9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood. 10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. 11 And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. 12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. The angel of the Lord said the Abraham feared God since he did not withhold his only son from 'me'. Who is the 'Me'? Did Abraham not withhold his son from an angel? Since the command to sacrifice his son is from God, it is to God that Abraham did not withhold from.

And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes. Romans 11:26-28 ~ In context, Paul's point is that "Israel" in spiritual terms refers to a believing Jewish remnant within the ethnic nation of Israel. The true "Israel" is that believing remnant of ethnic Jews. Amen~! Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. That is my understanding It's the love of money that is wrong. It becomes an idle and people put it before God.

God the Son, the Word gave up His position as well as being in the form of God, to complete, totally empty Himself into to the form of man. He took on flesh for our sakes. The fullness of the Godhead dwelt in human form. He not only become human, but he humbled himself to be a servent and to be wrongfully crucified as though he were a criminal. While He was God in human flesh Col. 1:19, 2:9 He was still limited somewhat by this human body. He could only be in one place at a time, for instance. That is why he went away and sent the Holy Spirit to us. A person's good name is his reputation and his honor. We no longer think in these terms, when a persons word was beliieved because of his good name or reputation. We no longer see many people of honor, who never lie or manipulate people but are full of unselfish integrity. Christ's name conveyed such purity and honor that it created awe and respect. His reputation was higher than any man or angel, it was so far above reproach.
