  4. Of course when population growth, microevolutionary rates, the expansion rate of the universe, or other variables are consistent with a young creation rather than millions and billions of years, you will frequently hear it claimed by science that those rates are just "speeding up" or "accelerating" for some unknown reason. https://www.google.com/search?num=100&q=science+rate+speeding+up&oq=science+rate+speeding+up

  5. My prediction would be, if the planet and everything on it truly is young...then we'd find more than one radio metric method that would show this. I mean every single atomic clock that is measured is way off due to external influences? That's sound like an excuse to me. Well there are methods that show a young earth, human population growth and microevolutionary rates for example. The rates at which population grows and organisms adapt is too fast for the long timescales of evolution. Radiometric dating as a method itself has serious flaws, so arguing that it is reliable at all is debatable.

  6. That's why you can take samples from the region and "calibrate" or make sure you're not taking a sample that has been disturbed by outside influences. You seem to suggest that the scientists in the field aren't aware of these issues that you bring up. Those stupid stupid scientists! http://www.uwgb.edu/dutchs/Petrology/RadDating0.HTM

  7. Yes, this magnetic field effect is exacerbated when applied to carbon dating, because under strong magnetic fields there is the reduction of atmospheric carbon production, (less carbon meaning dates are over-estimated) and there is the additional effect of rapid decay of the carbon from the samples (less carbon meaning dates are over-estimated when based on current decay rates) What you quoted from the encyclopedia is well understood. Carbon dating is only good for dating organic samples less than 60k years old. Potassium argon is able to go way beyond that. So I can understand acknowledging slight variances with the dates given, but trying to sell a 6000 year old earth is to me, not reasonable.

  8. So true. Yes often recently formed rocks can show enough daughter element to be dated to millions of years old. Some scientists have argued that the methods only apply to older rocks, but that is laughable circular reasoning because do they expect the daughter element to somehow correct itself over time? Seep out the rock? Their logic is sometimes lacking. These rocks start off already over -dated by millions of years and the rock does not have the ability to correct its own daughter element quantities. (as silly as that sounds, what are these guys thinking?)

  10. Four reasons why Paul’s concerns in Romans 11 are present and not future focused. The first reason is found in verse 1: I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. Note how Paul answers his own question, “has God cast away His people?” He does not answer, “May it never be! For do you not know that in the millennium God will restore Israel to her former glory?” No, rather in answer to his own question ,‘Has God cast away his people?’ Paul identifies himself as current proof that God’s purposes for Israel are being realized in the present time. Paul is saying it is not the case that God has entirely rejected Israel, rather he stills has a plan for Israel, and Paul himself was the living evidence of that plan – he does not point to the future but the present. Secondly we notice that Romans 11 focuses on God’s present intentions for Israel when we consider v5: “Even so then, at this present timethere is a remnant according to the election of grace. (Rom 11:5 NKJ).” Notice particularly the phrase “at this present time” . Clearly these two references in v1 and 5 set this first paragraph of Romans 11 in the present age that Paul is writing in. I would contend that this concern with Israel’s present salvation continues into the next pericope (it must as Paul doesn't switch his language from talking about the present), which provides the third reason. V13-14 say “For I speak to you Gentiles; inasmuch as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry, 14 if by any means I may provoke to jealousy those who are my flesh and save some of them. (Rom 11:13 NKJ).” Paul’s most earnest desire is that by his present ministry among the Gentiles he might see the salvation of his kinsmen according to the flesh. Is that not what he saying? Is it not readily apparent that by his current ministry to the gentiles he is expecting to see Jews moved to jealousy when they see Gentile believers sharing in the blessings of the messianic kingdom? Fourth, the concluding paragraph (v30-32) emphasises the fact that the entire chapter is oriented not toward a future hope but a present expectation. For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now obtained mercy through their disobedience, 31 even so these also havenow been disobedient, that through the mercy shown you they also may obtain mercy. 32 For God has committed them all to disobedience, that He might have mercy on all. (Rom 11:30 NKJ) Notice those ‘now’s in these concluding verses, they indicate that Paul’s emphasis on the present responsiveness of Israel and not a future response from them in another age. Now Romans 11:26 in more detail Romans 11:26 And so all Israel will be saved1, as it is written: "The Deliverer will come out of Zion, And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; (Rom 11:26 NKJ) Or if you read Greek καὶ οὕτως πᾶς Ἰσραὴλ σωθήσεται, καθὼς γέγραπται• ἥξει ἐκ Σιὼν ὁ ῥυόμενος, ἀποστρέψει ἀσεβείας ἀπὸ Ἰακώβ. I am amazed by how people import the word ‘then’ into this verse. It changes the whole meaning of the text, shifting the focus to a future event that applies to the nation of Israel alone. However Paul does not say ‘then’, he says ‘so’ οὕτως – Paul is doing nothing more than summarising what he has said already – he is actually saying that the way God’s Israel will be gathered in will be by the process of the grafting of the gentiles into the olive tree that provokes a remnant of Jews to jealousy. How else do we understand the words "so/thus/ therefore"? Much of the verses are in present tense. Some speaks of continuing action. And some is futuristic. You missed the following: Romans 11:26For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery—so that you will not be wise in your own estimation—that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in; First of all, this is speaking of a mystery, something not fully revealed. Part of the mystery is the Israel is partially hardened, but it has a limit. This partial hardening of Israel continues until the fullness of the Gentiles come in. Since there are still Gentiles being saved, there are still Gentiles coming in. Once that is complete, the operative until that happens occurs. Israel will no longer be partially hardened. Then Israel will come in. So, while you say all that is spoken was present tense, you skipped the verse which sets a time limit which occurs in the future. Unless you want to contend that all Gentiles who will be saved have been saved.

  11. True enough, but is the reverse the case? Do we let what we interpret in Scripture filter how we interpret scientific data? If we know the answers already, why go through all the work of basic research?

  14. wildstar, doing God's work will certainly help 'manage' sin. no doubt about that! staying grounded in God's word (reading the bible daily) and praying will also help 'manage' sin... when we're walking close to God in these ways, and surrounding ourselves with people who try to live a godly life, we have an easier time avoiding the temptation to sin. of course, it's not going to prevent all sin, because there's not a single one of us that can make it an entire day (hour even?) without sinning. that being said, as butero pointed out, we should confess our sins when we commit them... just as when we offend a friend, we immediately apologize. God says that when we ask Him to forgive a sin we have committed, he throws it as far as the east is from the west, and remembers it no more. if five minutes later you commit the same sin and say "hey God, remember what i did five minutes ago?" He's going to say "nope, i forgot it already". and then you ask forgiveness again for the most recent infraction... and lest anyone think i'm saying this can be used as an excuse to continue in sin without repentance, i'm not. repentance is a change of heart as well as an apology. a repentant heart is one that desires to stop screwing up over and over again. but sometimes it takes people a long time to get out of the habit of a specific sin... if they're constantly (sincerely) apologizing, the heart is going to follow, and they'll find themselves doing that bad habit less and less frequently.

  15. Hi dscapp, You said - `I believe Matt. 24: 31 is speaking of the first heaven because it`s a rapture scripture, unless you think otherwise.` I believe `otherwise,` because of these scriptures - IT IS NOT THE RAPTURE 1. The Body of Christ (Church) is in the General Assembly in the third heaven. (Heb. 12: 23) `you have come ...to the General Assembly & Church of the first born who are enrolled in heaven.` 2. When Christ comes for the rest of the Body of Christ he will bring with Him `those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.` (1 Thess. 4: 14) IT IS THE GATHERING OF ISRAEL Thus I believe in Matt. 24: 31 the Lord is talking to the people of Israel concerning His coming for them as a Nation. Compare this scripture - `It will come about also in the Day that a great trumpet will be blown; & those who were perishing ...& scattered....will come & worship the Lord in the Holy mountain at Jerusalem.` (Isa. 27: 13) `& they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other,` (Matt. 24: 31) `from north, south, east & west - from one extremity of the earth to the other.` (Weymouth) `...from the four points of the compass...`(C.B. Williams) `.....from the verge of heaven to the verge of earth.` (Moffatt)

  16. Where do you think fallen angels live....... there are millions of them?? Jude 1:6 6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. 2nd Peter 2:4 4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; I do not think fallen angels are the same as aliens. that's not all of them, just the ones who became flesh and mated with Adam's daughters. some fallen angels may be able to come and go in our world and cause havoc to people but that does not have anything to do with ufo and aliens imo Im not totally convinced aliens exist. Im not convinced some of the things I saw flying are alien craft. The U.S. government has things today that we will hear about in 20 years from today. I would think a fallen angel can go where ever without a ufo to move about in. I personally think that there are both..... and I personally think that some in our government are working with the devil and that's where the technology comes from...... You are free to call me a nut if you like...... some things we are disclosed not to discuss.

  17. "There’s a woman who claims to have private revelations and she says that anyone who doesn’t believe the messages that she receives from Jesus will go to hell because that’s blasphemy against the Holy Spirit" So according to her, then a lot of people are going to Hell, because I don't know who this woman is and have never heard her revelations, like so many others. Take no notice of false prophets. Ignore them. What you keep hearing, these thoughts - ignore them. Jesus died for everybody and that includes you. Tell Satan to "go away!"

  19. Yet, just when... is the time of God's wrath upon the wicked? Apostle Paul answered that too in 1 Thess.5. 1 Thess.5:2-4 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say, "Peace and safety"; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. When is that time of "Peace and safety" that the deceived will be saying? Notice the time of the "sudden destruction cometh upon them" is right after that time of "Peace and safety". The peace and safety is about the "great tribulation" time our Lord Jesus taught. For the deceived it's gonna' be great for them, because all their woes and problems will be taken care of by the pseudo-Christ, thinking he is our Lord Jesus. How will it be in that time for those of us who refuse to bow in false worship to that pseudo-Christ? That short time of "Peace and safety" for those who will make a stand for Christ will be the time when the brother shall betray brother, the father the son, and children shall rise up against their parents to cause them to be put to death (Mark 13:12-13). If you stand in Christ Jesus for that time, you will be persecuted, for the tribulation is upon the undeceived Faithful to Christ. It is the time of Satan's wrath upon God's remnant that will refuse to bow to that false one who comes first. But God's Wrath is after that, when our Lord Jesus comes on that "day of the Lord", and His wrath is only upon the wicked and deceived that will have persecuted His elect saints during the tribulation.

  20. that's a pretty emphatic statement considering the evidence I have already put forward on this thread. During the PT boundary the world has evidence of a mud layer containing volcanic ash. Within this mud layer, there is a fungal layer. During this period in earth's history there were massive sedimentation movements and evidence of sea flooding into the continental interiors. This is all already geologically established, its just creationists have not begun to focus on the PT boundary as geological proof of the flood. The reason for this is that until recently it was regarded as a period during which sea levels were low, only recently has it been discovered that it was a high sea-level period in history. So instead of just making an unscientific statement, kindly challenge this view from a geological standpoint.

  21. Koala bears are marsupials and all Australian marsupials have a recent genetic ancestor of the South American possum. When animals are isolated on an island they can rapidly adapt to fill various ecological niches, and so their outward morphology can be vastly different, but their DNA is still closely related to each other. This can be referred to as rapid "convergent evolution". Where the ecology is in need of a mouse, or a wolf, and no such animal exists on an isolated island, an existing species can rapidly adapt to fill that niche. Its outward appearance may resemble a mouse or a wolf, but DNA has no match. And so I suggest that Koala bears have a common ancestor with South American possums, and are a species that have since specialised into an eucalyptus diet once in Australia.

  22. Christ's Salvation is by Faith alone, a free gift that is not earned, and that's how we are saved by grace. But 'works' in Christ are a show of our Faith. So really, the two shouldn't be compared with each other, because they are two separate things. The comparison involving 'works' in Christ's Salvation is to do with rewards vs. shame when He returns. Does not mean those who had Faith but had few works in Christ won't be saved.

  23. Jesus said those of the resurrection are as the angels of God in Heaven (Matt.22:30). I find it hard to believe that a person of your knowledge of the Bible would use a short sentence fragment to say something so out of context...... i'm disappointed..... Not out of context at all. Your insults in ignorance only give me more opportunity to teach others on this subject. That scripture you referred there was saying that we would not be getting married in heaven as the angels do not marry in heaven, it is not saying that we are going to be Angels as is the theme of this thread.

  27. The following is what I believe about the verses. 1 Corinthians 12:27-31, and Ephesians 4:11-13, describes the offices, callings or positions set up within the body. 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 describes the gifts given to the body by the Holy Spirit, empowering them to do the will of God. Romans 12:3-8 describes how people should move/operate within the works or ministries a believer is given the body.

One of my favorite little sayings has always been......."Reach up as far as you can & God will reach down the rest of the way".........It is funny that you should bring up this topic as right now I find myself in a situation where I am wondering if there is something I need to act upon or not .........the important thing to do is to trust God to give us direction & follow his lead.........be it to simply 'be still & wait".....or to move forward and proceed..... We do have to put our faith into action ,this can mean many different things but in all things may we give God the Glory & let His Will be done With love-in Christ,Kwik

  29. Assuming there was such, what about all the wasted time and expenses needlessly incurred because God was not in it? Why act presumptuously supposing God to bless it because we do it in His Name? Has He not said. "Wait on Me"? If you believe I am in it, will I not open a door for it to happen, will I not make a way? But then, I am a Pentecostal. . . Does God Really Help Those Who Help Themselves? Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. Jeremiah 17:5 Or Does God Help Those Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. Jeremiah 17:7 Who Wait Upon Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. Genesis 18:14 Him? I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living. Psalms 142:5 That Is The Question???
