  3. The waiting reveals the most concerning the strength of faith. Impatience evinces a low level of understanding faith, and patience, a high level. The more truth accepted without physical proof, the greater is the faith, for faith, being the “substance” and “evidence” of things not physically verifiable (Heb 11:1) is greatest when active in the absence of physical proof. The greater the absence of physical proof, the greater potential for the activity of faith; hence conversely, the greater the physical proof, the lessor the potential for greater faith. Such is the cause of the gradual removal of physical proof, that faith may be at its greatest, for in this life only will faith be necessary as we “walk by faith, not by sight” (2Co 5:7), unlike eternity (1 Jhn 3:2; Rev 21:24). I believe the best example of faith at its pinnacle is displayed in Romans 8:28, in believing that there is nothing that can alter the truth that God uses all that transpires “for good to them that love God.” This is said to include “all things,” which means whatsoever is in the existence of this life. I’m reminded of the classic cartoon, “Mr. Magoo” who, though old and nearsighted (Myopia), always ended up where he should be. This parallels Romans 8:28, in that the believer will always be in the care of God (1 Pet 5:7) by “ordering” his “steps,” which is “directing” his “paths” (Psa 37:23; Pro 3:6). “Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholds him with His hand” (Psa 37:24). Waiting is easier, faith is greater, and patience reveals most (Luke 21:19) that you are undoubtedly convinced everything that you or anyone will do cannot alter God’s promise of His care for you, exemplified by the “ten virgins” (Mat 25:1-13) and the “faithful and wise servant” (Mat 24:45-51). Surly there can be no greater comfort (short of Christ coming for His Church) than being assured, that regardless of our (believers) understanding concerning anything, we are Magoo-proofed. -NC

  4. To give an example that I know is true. My husband's family grew up under dire poverty in the us. In the 19th most poor county in the us. On an indian reservation. He grew up in a family of violence and alcoholism. Where unemployment rates even in the best of times is well over 50%. Yet his mother instilled values in him and his 4 brothers and sisters. Today each one of them has a college education and got out of the poverty. Three of them work in the medical field. They worked hard to get where they are today. They didnt give up and say the man has beaten us down. They worked for what they have. They made good choices to get out of poverty. As for unequal treatment ... Navajo indians did not have full rights to vote until 1948. Nor was slavery for them ended with the civil war. Spanish in New Mexico kept them as slaves later than 1865. Some people need and deserve to have financial help. Others just feel it is owed to them as reparations or some such nonsense and have a sense of entitlement. Its time folks who can work, who can better their lives, start doing so.

  5. I accidentally posted this in the general forum. Not sure how to delete a post so it's still there but reposting here to the appropriate forum. Someone please help me to understand if I am misinterpreting this scripture. From what I read, it means that these things work out for our good if we ARE Christians, not for those who are unsaved. I have a friend that uses this as a pep thing to lift up a mutual friend that is going through some stuff but taht also is not Saved and literally says their master is the devil. Am I not understanding this scripture? How do I go about explaining to her that this scripture doesn't apply to non-Christians IF I am understanding it correctly?

  6. Well, yes. Police officers are actually heroes, and that is accentuated when they get killed by criminals. As for the part you crossed through, which I think would be your explanation for the reason criminals do what they do.... That approach to the criminal makes his actions society's fault. He's not at fault, society made him a criminal according to how you approach this. If he had better opportunities, better environment, was not born on the poor side of the tracks, he would not be committing these crimes... It's everyone else's fault but the criminal; suddenly its the criminal who becomes the victim, in the liberal mindset. The truth is that despite what liberals claim, everyone has an equal shot at a good life in this country. I know of people who are happy and successful who are suffering from cerebral palsy, who live productive lives despite physical handicaps/disabilities. They are not living on food stamps, and while they do need some assistance for certain things, they take the bull by horns, they have jobs and they don't sit around feeling sorry for themselves, whining and blaming everyone else. They have some ambition and they represent the best in our country and demonstrate what some determination and strength of character can accomplish. So when an able-bodies black man whines and snivels around about how he is kept down and denies equal treatment, it isn't worth listening to. He is a liar. He is simply too lazy to get up and make his own way. The US bends over backwards to accommodate the needs of racial minorities, but we are not going to treat them like royalty. There are pockets of racism in the US, but they do not represent the majority of white Americans who, by a landslide twice elected an African American president. You can sit on here and blather on and on about how some supposed culture in this country that disadvantages black people but the truth is that this country boasts a huge number of successful African Americans in the fields of politics, medicine, sports, music, sports, and business. Mistake #1: There is only ONE story, not two stories. You are trying to create a false dichotomy. There is one story in play. Michael Brown assaulted a police officer. He drew first blood. The fact that one is black and one is white is irrelevant to the issue. Liberals make an issue of race, but this story has nothing to do with race. Mistake #2: You fail to acknowledge that the liberal media ran with the narrative they wanted to push. This was not about honest journalism. The media made this about race because that's what sells, and that's what generates ratings. Mistake #3: You are asking all of the wrong questions. Liberals usually do that when they are pushing a "race" agenda. If we go by nothing more than the facts of this case, then what we have is a thief who assaulted a police officer and who attempted a second similar assault but was killed when the officer (who was not physically capable of subduing the criminal) fired his gun in self-defense. What you should be asking is why Michael Brown was in such a state of mind that he had to be shot five times in order to be taken down. In the past, that is evidence of a person being under the influence of a controlled substance. For your first paragraph., that's NOT what I said. That is a terrible false witness about what I actually said. Let's go back to one of those Dictionary definitions I bolded. an account of past events in someone's life or in the evolution of something. A news is not necessarily a singular event. What happens before matters, but the reason Brown is such a big story is the connected events to what happened afterwards. See that bit? Evolution? That's super important. Because the situation evolved. Up until the death of Taylor and the death of Brown, both stories on a look similar. We agree on that. The bigger fire is what matters. Michael Brown is a bigger story because: A Shooting + Protests + Riots +Tear Gas + Arrests + Mine Resistant Vehicles used in a protest + loads of other events, Is greater than: A shooting. It's that simple. Why did you imply Michael Brown could've been on drugs? Do you have any actual evidence of that? Toxicology report perhaps? You're missing the point. Rioting occurred afterwards because the story had already a spin put on it. It's not a bigger story because of the rioting. The story CAUSED the rioting. So the question is - why was this story bigged up in the first place? Why is a Black man being shot by the police a bigger story than a White man being shot by a Black police officer? Why was so much made out of the Brown story that led to public outrage?

  7. I read it as pologymy as well. If you have someone that was married and not saved, or didn't know about Christ at all, that person gets a divorce and lets say 10 years later he is a Christian then all of his previous sins are washed away by the blood of Christ. Now lets say he gets married as a Christian and he feels God calling him to be a pastor, would his previous marriage keep him from being a pastor? He could very well be keeping his current life in order because he has Christ now.

  11. I was just doing some reading on Dan 9:24-27 the other day. Here's how I'm interpreting it: (bold parenthesis is my interpretation) Dan 9:24-27 24)Seventy weeks are determined upon they people and upon they holy city, to finish the transgression (earth's sabbaths), and to make an end of sins (christ's shed blood), and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy ("it is finished" John 19:30), and to anoint the most Holy. 25) Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the comandment to restore and to build Jerusalem (King Cyrus' decree 2 Chro 36:23) unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times (Nehemiah 4:7, 8). 26) And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself (Christ was crucified in the midst of a week, and some believe that Christ's ministry lasted 3.5 years): and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary (the Romans in 70 AD); and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27) And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week (confirm here means to strengthen or give strength to; covenant being the new covenant in his blood; passion week, also the missing week): and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate (christ's death left no reason to sacrifice animals to cover over sins, which really they cannot. Animal sacrifices were a shadow of things to come), even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

  13. I honostly don't know the answer to this. The ways of the God Who created the universe are not my ways, and I don't understand why stuff happens. The one thing I know is that God loves me and Jesus died for me. Nothing will ever seperate me from His love. And He has promised to never leave me or forsake me. Sometimes He has allowed my worst fears to come upon me so that He can walk with me through them and show me that He can make all things bearable through His strength. When the enemy could no longer terrify me, those problems left and other attacks began but now on my health. When you have your health you have everything? Nope! When you have close communion with God you have everything.

  14. The idea of the final "one week" of Dan.9:27 being yet fulfilled is not a doctrine specific to the Pre-trib Rapture school. Many that are post-trib understand that also.

  16. The Evil Galilean Zealots were "of" Jesus? Can you elaborate? Based on your description (immorality/corruption/dissension/desecration) I would guess that they are "of" the evil one. Can you elaborate on the final 3.5 years as to when it might fit into the rest or prophecy? Is it when the dragon in Rev 12 persecutes Israel? Will Jesus be back on earth then confirming/strengthening the covenant for the final 3.5 years? The Hebrew word for "people" is not a religious word. It refers to those from your hometown or home region. Your countrymen. Thus Jesus was from Galilee and his "people" are Galileans, just like if people from Oklahama do evil, they are still "your countrymen" just by virtue of the fact they are from Oklahama even if you disassociate yourself from their deeds. In the build up to the destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD it was 3 different galilean leaders that were vying for power and "Messianic status" in the build up to the Roman siege. These were known as the "Zealots" and were intensely evil and brought the city and the sanctuary to absolute moral ruin. The Hebrew word for destroy does not actually mean destroy, it means "ruin" because it can apply to a destruction, to a corruption and to rot and decay. So its usage can apply equally to what the corrupt Galileans did to the city and the temple, as well as what the Romans did to the city and the temple. The final 3.5 years overlap all the 3.5 year periods of Daniel/Revelation. Yes its the period of Satan's wrath as per Rev 12. This is when the woman (Israel) is protected. Incidentally this period starts with the victory of the gospel, which causes Satan to fall, which reminds us of Jesus words that the end will not come until the gospel is preached to all nations. Which in turn reminds us of Romans 11:25 which refers to the "fullness of the nations", thereafter Israel is open to the gospel. And so I believe the final 3.5 years, the great tribulation will be a special period for Jews, where they are protected and also they are open to the gospel. Thus the gift of Jesus' sacrifice interrupted the last week, but Jesus will still confirm himself as Messiah to the Jewish nation for a further 3.5 years until the second coming. (through salvation of the Jews). So, you're saying that Jesus does not come back to earth to confirm the final 3.5 years with Israel? If that's correct, how does He do it during that time? Shouldn't the part about the Messiah being cut off fall in the description of the last week instead of just "after the sixty-two weeks"? Yes the part about being "cut off" is the same event as Jesus bringing an offering of sacrifice, his crucifixion. This occurs after the 483 years, exactly 3.5 years after. The coming of the anointed one is logically not at the triumphal entry as traditionally seen, its 3.5 years before that when Jesus was anointed in the River Jordan and publicly recognised by John the Baptist as the Messiah. Historically this occurred 483 years after the issuing of Artaxerxes decree in 458 BC. Exactly 3.5 years later Jesus is "cut off", when he gives himself as an offering of sacrifice, which stops the 70th week in the middle. Jesus confirms himself to those open hearted Jews just as he confirmed Himself to you. Through salvation, heart knowledge that He is the only way. Gentiles are currently open to the gospel but after the fullness of the Gentiles, Jews will be open to the gospel (Romans 11:25). Thus for 3.5 years on earth, and for 3.5 years of the great tribulation, Jesus is revealed to the Jewish nation. So for 7 years the Messianic promise of God is confirmed to the Jewish nation. This 7 year period is stopped in the middle by Jesus and then started again by the "abomination of desolation" ... the great appearing of the antichrist as per 2 Thessalonians 2 and Revelation 13. Daniel 12 can also be seen as alluding to this gap followed by the abomination. This would then explain why Jesus only refers to the future "abomination" and not any "peace treaty" is mentioned by Jesus. This would also explain the repeated mention of a tribulation of 3.5 years in Revelation, with no repeated mention of 7 years anywhere in the bible. So you think that "to make atonement for iniquity" happened within the first 3.5 years of the seven year confirming of the covenant...at the end? Do you think a temple will be rebuilt in Jerusalem then for the false prophet to declare himself as God in? I believe all the fulfilments of Daniel 9:24 only find their completion at the second coming. Yes I believe there will be a rebuilt temple, Ezekiel 40-46 describe the purification and usage of this temple in the future Messianic reign on earth. I see no reason for there to be a stoppage of sacrifices in this temple, the appearance of the antichrist amidst signs and wonders on Mount Zion will be a moment of misguided glory for Israel. This moment is their leader come to power, not the antichrist's betraying them as often described by end-times books.

  17. You stop your quote (at least) one verse short: 33 [Ye] serpents, [ye] generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? -and next He describes how they shall (future) murder those He sends, just like their fathers did. This passages echoes the rather frisky description of parentage in John 8: 39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham. 40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham. 41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, [even] God. 42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. 43 Why do ye not understand my speech? [even] because ye cannot hear my word. 44 Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. To call a Pharisee a seed of a serpent or generation of vipers is to refer to Gen 3: 14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou [art] cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: 15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. So parentage in these verses is talking about allegiance or spiritual parentage, the master you serve.

  18. The Holy Spirit is the fuel in my gastank that empowers me to do things I could never do, know things I could never know and be content with such things as I have. It is the very breath of life in me given to me by God. The vive in revival and the key to my survival. That which helps me to remain detached from everything that is not of God yet allows me to penetrate the core of everything. The one providing laser vision that looks upon the heart of matters and knows the mind of men. The most incredible thing never invented but rather that which came out of God and is in me doing the works of the Father that in and of myself I cannot. The very praise in my praises.

  19. The verse absolutely applies to Christians. I will not say that God does not intervene for unbelievers; after all, conversion is itself an intervention. But that verse does not pertain to general providence. It is about life in Christ. Simply read the context: 28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first-born among many brethren; 30 and whom He predestined, these He also called; and whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. (Rom 8:28-30 NAS) This sounds pretty "Christian". clb

  20. It will be over VERY SOON after the sound of a very loud trumpet blast! It will be Paul's "last trump." John shows us that there will be a short period of time after the pretrib rapture: time to mark the 144,000. Once that is accomplished, the 7th seal will MARK in heaven the offical start of the 70th week of Daniel. LAMAD

  21. I appreciate what you say other one. I have had chronic fatigue for 30 years & it has been quite difficult for myself & my husband. For years I had no strength & often had to crawl to go to the bathroom. I cried out to God. Yet through it all I have learned to let go of so much & have come to know our Lord more deeply. As regards the person`s difficulties. All I can say is that the Lord`s purpose is to make us like Christ.. And we know that means dying to self - what a long process that is. I think so much damage has been done by wrong teaching, where people are told that God wants to do` this & that` & only the best (read - material things). Imagine if Stephen of the early believers went to a conference & heard that then the very next day, rocks & stones. He would have thought, `What is happening, God,` whereas he looked toward heaven & saw the Lord waiting for him & then he entered heaven.
