I'm with OneLight on this.

You don't need to go to a conference, you need to go to Jesus. It's free!

Amen

This is the word of God concerning healing:

James 5:13-15 (King James Version)

13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

hmmm...no conference mentioned there?

I would base going or not on whether people were actually getting healed or not.

As for cost - name me one Christian event that doesn't cost. (That includes not needing a "love offering" to cover expenses.)

Jesus never had to deal with electric bills.

You have to watch out for the word "conference". Its been my experience if the word "conference or retreat" is attached to a Christian event then it usually has a charge that comes along with it. Usually these conferences or retreats are more about specialized teaching and skills rather then general pastoring and fellowship. For example: Prophecy Conference, Pastor's Conference, Music Ministers Conference, Youth Ministers Conference, Healing Conferances, Evangalism Conferances, etc....

If you going there for specialized lessons then it may be worth paying for it but if your going there just to fellowship then you may not want to find other Christian events going on that are free.

I have been to many many many Christian events and I have never payed one dime to get in, that I can recall and if there was a charge, I wouldn't have gone. Donations on the other hand take place at most Christian events, including local church events. I have no problem with ministers asking for support or donations to continue their ministry. Paul the apostle did the same and encouraged Christians to give to his ministry and others and spoke of the benefits of giving to support his ministry and others.

Good point Neb :emot-handshake:. There is nothing wrong with someone recovering the costs of their "conference" (please lets not get into a semantics debate about the word). The only issue I have is when people are asked to pay for their healing, and not just legitimate expenses.

Such is the way of the world. Pack them in as tight as you can, just as the TV preachers do today. Makes me wonder why Christ sent them out in twos, going door to door instead of telling each of them to gather them in marketplaces and do it all at once? Sure would of saved them a lot of time, don't you think? There is no personal relationship between people, which is greatly lacking in today's Christianity. What about those who are too sick to go or too poor to enter? Are then not worthy of Gods healing or the message they are giving? When man places a price on anything of God they are prostituting Him. God never asked a penny from anyone. Anyone, show me one place in scripture what Christ asked for one penny for what He did, or the Apostles or the early church. They all had expenses.

Luk 10:1 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go.

Luk 10:2 And he said to them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.

Luk 10:3 Go your way; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves.

Luk 10:4 Carry no moneybag, no knapsack, no sandals, and greet no one on the road.

Luk 10:5 Whatever house you enter, first say, 'Peace be to this house!'

Luk 10:6 And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. But if not, it will return to you.

Luk 10:7 And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house.

Luk 10:8 Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you.

Luk 10:9 Heal the sick in it and say to them, 'The kingdom of God has come near to you.'

Continuing with OneLights comments, the 72 carried no moneybag, and no possessions. Jesus said they are to heal but earn their "wages" through food and drink supplied alone.

I also wonder about these healing conferences (sometimes called crusades, but that is not so "PC" anymore). Africa is full of them advertised everywhere.

Jesus heals, and although I don't doubt that some people could be healed if this was a Jesus based event, I would hesitate myself to attend one.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
