How do we live by the Spirit?

With the fall of Adam and Eve human beings separated themselves from God. They, therefore, wrote the laws in a language that lacked the Spirit of God. These laws, therefore, prescribed stoning to death as a punishment for adultery (Deuteronomy 22:22), and permitted divorce (Mark 10:4) and revenge (Leviticus 24:1`9-21). Furthermore, their writings often described God as jealous, revengeful and violent. However, in the fullness of time God took a human form and lived amongst us to ransom us from the law by putting His Spirit in our hearts (Galatians 4: 4-6). Furthermore, by humbling Himself to take a human form and by enduring suffering and death to save us (who betrayed, abused and killed Him) from sin; He showed us that He is faithful, meek, humble, patient, selfless, gentle, all-forgiving, non-condemning, merciful and infinite in love. He also showed us that to love others is to sacrifice our own interest in the process of helping those who hurt and betray us; and commands us to love others the way He loved us (John 15:12).

To live by His Spirit, therefore, is to live a life of unconditional love. We must therefore forgive our transgressors without any limit (Luke 17:4); fight evil with love; sacrifice our own interest in order to help those who hurt and betray us; give to everyone who asks and not demand back what others have taken from us; give our shirt as well if someone takes our coat; offer the other cheek if someone slaps us on one; love our enemies; pray for those persecute us (Matt. 5: 39-40; Luke 6: 27-36; Matt. 5: 44); never to divorce our spouse (Mk 10:11-12, Luke 6:18; Matthew 5: 31-32); and prefer to be wronged or robbed than to wrong others or rob them (1Cor. 6:7).

its very important that we study God's word.if you walk according to what God says then you will be wlking in the spirit.

whenever you understand what God says about a situation and you act upon it then you will be practically walking in the spirit .

We have never been given the power to do, only the power to choose. If we choose the sinful nature, then we reap all the fruit of the sinful nature. When we come to a relationship with Jesus Christ, he places within us the power not to choose to live like that anymore. If we choose the Spirit then, he comes into our lives and lives through us. This is my understanding in how we live by the spirit.

Living by the Spirit,to me,means putting spiritual matters first,and fleshly matters last.Paul tells Timothy the Holy Spirit gives power,love,and sound mind.He also says that serving as a soldier(for Christ)means not getting entangled in the affairs of this life.I suppose being entangled means they become our priority?

So living by the Spirit means spiritual matters are our priority.

We can be confident,without fear.

2Ti 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

2Ti 2:3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

2Ti 2:4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

As I have read through your OP several times. I want to say that the Spirit of God was in the OT laws because it was God himself who gave the laws to Moses so that he could teach the people to walk therein.

From Adam up until the time of Moses there were no laws written by anyone to be followed

as the laws of God was given to Moses as God taught them to Moses. The laws that you spoke of that were wrote prior to Moses you spake of them in a manner in which God had nothing to do with for they lacked the Spirit of God therefore the laws were dead within out the Spirit.

This couldn't be further from the truth as the laws of God were given to Moses by his own mouth this being the case the OT law did contain the Spirit of God for it was he alone who gave the laws to Moses to teach them to the children of Israel.

I totally agree. Also, Abraham did not have any laws written down anywhere, but he was the father of our faith. Enough people knew by word of mouth back then, going back to Adam, who God was and that they could serve him or not. God allowed those who followed him by faith with a right heart, to partake of his blessings and heaven afterward.

Walking in the Spirit is obeying God in our hearts. It is listening to God's voice to love everyone and see every human being as infinitely precious and valuable. It is doing our best by the direction of God to help and love mankind. It is loving everyone we meet even those that do us wrong. Anyone can walk in the Spirit, both Christians and Non-Christians as God's voice is in everyone.

Christians however can do something that non-Christians can't. Christians believe that Jesus is God and that God is love. In believing this they can meet, see and serve Jesus in everyone they meet. Christians can literally meet and serve Jesus in every person, the good and the bad. Jesus is Love. He is the love to be loved and the love the be served. He is love for other people. Thus Christians have an enormous gift! They can walk in the light. They can align their physcial action to be for God when their motives are for God as they now can do things directly for God by doing things directly to Jesus in everyone they meet.

Christians come to Father by coming to Jesus in each person they meet. It is the gift of life and it is for all people! How blessed mankind is!

I have to disagree with you statement colored. The Holy Spirit resides in us, guiding us, teaching us, creating a us into the likeness of Christ. Unbelievers do not have the Holy Spirit; therefore, can not walk in the spirit as you say.

Christians however can do something that non-Christians can't. Christians believe that Jesus is God and that God is love. In believing this they can meet, see and serve Jesus in everyone they meet. How can you read it any different then how it is written? Tell me, who are the "Non-Believers" that can walk in the Spirit?

The spirit of the believer, for the Holy Spirit is God, as with the Father and the Son. Known as the Trinity.

Then your understanding of scripture is wrong. It is not until one accepts Christ that His Spirit is in us. Show me scripture where it tells us that the Holy Spirit is in everyone, saved and unsaved.

Provide scripture that states that His Spirit dwells in the unbeliever.

John 14:26
