Throwing stones.

I would think that throwing stones is also metaphoric for condemnation.

Jesus was saying that only those who are perfect and without any sin could condemn.

Now since that is humanly impossible, we are not to condemn, but guide sinners as Jesus guided the adulteress.

Great post Sir Gareth.

(something i always thought interesting about this story, they said they caught her in adultery, but where was the man she was caught with?)

Wow! Me too! I have often wondered this myself.

Double standard or what? :noidea:

This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. 1 Timothy 1:15

Paul said this - stating that he is a sinner - but then go read 1 Corinthians! Wow. If sinners are supposed to be perfect before they "throw stones" Paul was in trouble! But he used the guidelines that God has given to point out the sin in the Corinthian church. Judgmental? Maybe, but is it love to allow someone to die in their sins?

The incident where the Pharisees brought the woman to Jesus is totally different. The Pharisees (the great religious leaders) were trying to trap Jesus and they didn't care who they hurt in the process. Jewish law requires alduterers to be stoned to death....both the man and the woman. But the Pharisees only "caught" the woman and wanted to stone her. Probably it was a set up all the way around. So Jesus confronted the Pharisees sins, but led the woman to repentance by His love.

How does this relate to us? Well, we need to examine our lives and repent of sin we find there, but we need to use God's word as our guide when we see sin in someone's life and try to help them out of it.

A couple of weapons in Satan's arsenal is fear and guilt. He will use them when we feel led to speak the truth to others. Fear that we will be labeled or rejected and guilt when we look within and see our own sin, both crippling His work. Yet, scripture tells us constantly to speak the truth to others, as well as ourselves, in order to bring out righteousness.

We are taught to strive to be perfect, but we cannot ever be perfect. Thus we cannot throw stones!

But we can help correct with Love and Grace, while loving the sinner as Jesus did. We are all sinners, there is not one of us who is not. We cannot reach perfection, only strive for it. Only our King is perfect!

Blessings

Its true it is humanly impossible but its not true that its impossible to God, or else it is awry for the scripture to command "Be holy(without sin) as your Father in heaven is holy(without sin)".

Do people really think Paul was saying he was the worst sinner after his conversion?

Think about it folks, are you saying he went around as Christ` chosen ambassador all the while sinning but yet calling others to repentance, how is this possible or even think able :emot-pray: Christians are not called to leave their brains or common sense at the door, and believe the ludicrous.

Every command implies the ability to carry it out. Of course we cannot be holy without Gods help, but who cannot see that God promises His help everywhere throughout the scriptures, and delights to show His ease of ability to do that which seems impossible to us.

Of course if anyone tries to be holy they will fail, as it does not come by trying but by faith.

Paul was aware of his own sin. After his conversion he was forgiven, just like we all are, but he was just as imperfect as we all are. I am sure Paul struggled with things, just as Peter did, just as I do.

For some time now I have been pondering the way we expose sin.We all sin...we are all condemned without the saving grace of our Lord. When we see someone is sinning, are we disgusted ,or empathetic? And does it make a difference to our perception if the person is a believer or not?

Joh 8:7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

In the context of this verse, who were the belivers? As fas as i can tell Jesus stood alone. It was unbelievers exposeing unbelievers. Why would this be happening? These unbelievers did not care about this woman, but rather wanted to see what Jesus would say about sin. Why did they even care what Jesus thought? Its my opinion that Jesus life style spoke louder then any of His words and this convicted the unbelievers and was offencive. How are we living? Its the job of the Holy Spirit to convict the world of sin. It our job to love Jesus through obedince. If we are doing this we won't have to speak much. In term of brothers and sisters in the Lord, the Bible is quite clear.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
