AI worked in Rochester for a year back in the mid 80's. My company tried to get me to move up there and..... well no way. From my perspective they have only two seasons....... Winter....... , and July 4th weekend.

I drove over to Niagara Falls in the summer time every Saturday morning for two months...... It rained every time.

Guess I'm just used to that hot today, cold tomorrow stuff we have here. I would say though that most all of the State of New York is pretty in the time period we call summer, and the trees in late August and September are really pretty.

I did find the people there to be very nice and caring for the most part. It was an enjoyable time in spite of the weather.

I do not like snow either but I can bare it.. if I had any choice of where to live in the US it would be somewhere hot. Like Florida or Texas, maybe even Arizona. But the bad weather I can bare with for 2-4 years depending on where I get my certificate.

By the way that Houghton school you mentioned has great benefits for Canadians including tuition reduction (for currency matching) which is unheard of here. There is lots of financial assistance and I can even teach in NY if I find a job.. lots of great benefits.
