Well Tigger, I have pressed that question to my son and grand son. They sit looking at the phone as if they are hoping someone will call . I really think its the bright lights and the sound thats got them addictive lol. But as for texting, that I find very useful. I get a faster response (usually as soon as the message is received), than if I leave a voice message.

I would think that most "kids" that would come upon the chance to see a phone booth by the side of the road, they would have no idea of what it is! Such is the nature of technology.

By the way, I've never owned a cell phone as I already have a phone at home. No sense in paying for two. I doubt I ever will own one. Old fashioned, perhaps, and that's fine with me. I'm just not in that big of a hurry anymore.

God bless yall,

Randal

I think they should be outlawed in public.

I don't own one and I doubt if I ever will.

My wife and I both have one and I'm getting ready to get rid of our land line at home for we really don't use it much. It is really handy to be able to get in touch with each other all day long. When we go to walmart we just go our own ways and when one is ready to check out we'll just call to see where the other is.

I like to send texts and pictures to my son and daughter when we're traveling. I got used to using them at work where it was manditory. I'm just spoiled in being able to be in contact with my wife easily, and if she has car trouble she can call me for help. (She has MS and can't walk very far. They have come in handy many times while driving at work or on vacation when things go wrong or there are accidents. AAA calls are just the best when the car won't run.

Texting and driving is beyond stupid though, and teenagers should not use the phone part in the car at all until they build up driving reflexes for two or three years.

No lol, When people are at work (and lots of other places), they tend to have their cell phone near by. When they hear the little alert, they will check to see the message and can send it right back. As with voice mail where you have to pick up phone, press to receive, listen for the massager tell you have a certain amount of calls, press another key if you want to receive it, press another to delete, or save..takes a lot of time and in most employment we are not suppose to do personal stuff during working hours. :whistling:

I've had a cell phone for ten years or so now and, truthfully, I couldn't give it up. That being said, my own kids have their phone IN THEIR HANDS almost all the time! They text and call room to room  and I just don't get it. And having private conversations in public where everyone can hear you is stupid and rude. I was in a store the other day when the manager had to tell one guy to watch his language because he runs a family store.....the guy was going on and on with his profanity laced conversation loud enough to be heard through the whole store. Can you believe an ADULT (not a teenager, this guy was about 40) has to be told this? In keeping with the topic...yes, cell phones are an addiction for many people. When I go to lunch with someone who keeps their phone on and keeps calling and getting calls during our meal.....I get really steamed. The next lunch probably won't happen.

I don't have a cell phone. I need anymore stress in my life. I had one for awhile but didn't like being on call all the time and the customer service was horrendous.

I had a cell phone for years before they were commonplace. I used to have a pager that was linked only to my network servers at work - when they were "unhappy" I got a page and had to dial in on the laptop. I am now down to one cellphone for work and one for personal use. I thought about getting rid of the land line - except ... a few years ago we had a devastating hurricane here and my land line was still working when cell towers were down all over the place....

I do not text very often and never answer the phone while driving - even with the blue tooth.... I know my limitations - I need to concentrate on the road. I was on Twitter for about as long as it took me to realize I did not care what my mechanic was having for lunch....

Also, I have a 93 year old aunt who requests I write her weekly - on notepaper and via snail mail..... I find it very relaxing and I enjoy writing her and reading her replies each week....

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
