Older people have stronger belief in God than younger

I don't really think it is about a 'stronger belief'....either you know the L-rd or you don't, but having read the article I suppose there are many who are nominal in their beliefs

and whose names would force up the results.

My observations are probably a little like Onelights in that I see these days that in the West, presenting the Gospel is getting harder and harder, it is almost as if one is in

a sailing boat and trying to get wind in the sails to move the boat, but there is a calm and the boat hardly moves....some areas may buck the trend, but that is what I see,

it is also as if there is a mist descending, and what was once accepted and understood is now questioned and ridiculed...this probably has a lot to do with the advance of

atheistic sciences and a sort of covert hedonism that nobody admits to but which is evidenced when properly analysed.

Whereas in areas outside of Europe and America, where there is poverty, starvation, wars, persecution and death...where life is cheap, where and regimes and religions

force people to comply with their rules, even to what people wear or how they think...there is a passionate, devoted, vibrant joyous faith that experiences the reality of

a living Saviour, even in the face of the utmost difficulties and evil...here being a Believer truly costs and in many cases I doubt they could ever get a real indication of

how many Believers there are as it would be virtually impossible...neither would they know how many have been slaughtered like sheep, but the L-rd knows, and although

they may not have books written about them, I believe one day they will be honoured at the Marriage feast of the Lamb.

The part of the article that stuck in my mind was:-

"Looking at differences among age groups, the largest increases in belief in God most often occur among those 58 years of age and older," Smith said in a statement, referring to the change in belief between the 58 to 67 age group and those 68 and older. "This suggests that belief in God is especially likely to increase among the oldest groups, perhaps in response to the increasing anticipation of mortality."

On the surface one could imagine that therefore it would be easier to reach older people with the Gospel as they would be more receptive and had left behind the impetuousness

and self-indulgent aspects that seems to accompany this part of our life-cycle...but I think there is a caveat to this...namely that a person can become hardened in sin, and therefore

it becomes even harder for the Holy Spirit to gain access to a persons heart...I forget how many times I have spoken with older people and they have said that they will sort out if

there is a G-d when they lie on their death beds....but it doesn't work like that....today is the day of salvation if you hear His voice, come the time to die you might not be able to

repent from the heart because it is too hard and not softened by the Spirit of G-d in His mercy and love.

Proverbs 28:14 How blessed is the man who fears always,

But he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.

This paragraph stood out.

"If the modest, general trend away from belief in God continues uninterrupted, it will accumulate to larger proportions and the atheism that is now prominent mainly in northwest Europe and some ex-Socialist states may spread more widely," they write, adding that it is possible the trend could go the other way, with belief in God seeing a rebound.

Age really should not be a factor that deems if a person has more faith than another...then do not see why the amount of faith one person has in comparison to another is even an issue. Think it is these sort of things that tend to draw people away from Jesus rather than toward.

Ive been seeing a lot of articles in the news lately about faith in God, and how it is diminished in some way. In this case, the younger ones do not believe as much in God. I see implications in all of the articles that lack of faith is better in the eyes of the writer.

Yet I see so many who are older than me here...saying how youth like me lack in faith. Why is faith becoming a contest? It is sick

Im starting to feel like I have to walk on eggshells around you. It seems like anything I post here or in chat offends you. Please stop assuming the worst in my words. Faith isnt a contest. I attempted to show how the world is once again making faith seem old fashioned and outdated through the articles Ive been reading in the news lately.

Are you saying that any of individuals who may be on government assistance do not seek God to provide for them? This judgement card is getting really old.... Think that the problem here is instead of sharing and ministering in God's love, too many Christians are acting more as Pharisees and Sadduccees....killing the faith in their own brothers and sisters in Christ with either false teachings or condemnation.

The only judgments I see are from you condemning your brethren with misunderstandings and quite honestly a big old chip on the shoulder.

Dani, don't take it too hard. This is what Satan wants. A house divided can't stand. He wants to encourage you to do the same as you see being done. He wants you to judge the judgmental and in the end watch as Christians devour each other like dogs in a fight. God bless you Dani. God bless all who post here. Lets let the judgment be upon Satan who was judged at the cross and lift each other up in prayer if we think that we might be judging one another instead of truly edifying each other. Let us not be ignorant of his devices as that is how he wins. Think of the Atheists. They believe nothing exists and are truly at Satan's disposal for his use in his ministry upon the earth.

May the love of God be shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit as we obey scripture and be gentle with one another, forgiving one another as is commanded.

Gary

I seem to remember Tim Keller in his book, The Reason for God talk about this. Secularism and new atheism are rising, but so are numbers of religious followers.(especially in African and South American cultures)

I think what we are seeing is a polarization in the youth of the world today...which I don't think is a good thing.

I think what the article is pointing out is that more and more of the younger generations are not believers in God.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
