agreed, Daniel.

perhaps my choice of words weren't exact.

the tree was the agent, which allowed the willful sin, to cause the introduction of death.

Could the tree of the knowledge of good and evil also be a word seed?

Can someone please explain to me what is meant by a word seed?

LOL! you and me both.....perhaps it is a passing reference to the the parable Jesus gave concerning the word falling as seed on the ground...some hard, some soft etc...

It is not an expression found in the Bible as it appears here (to the best of my knowledge)

Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil = Cause of Death

I would not say Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil is the cause of death, the cause of death is in the fact that both Adam & Eve knowingly & willfully disobeyed Gods command Not to eat the fruit of that tree.....probably due to something like they were not yet mature enough to know the proper usage of what their eyes were opened up to.

The reason they were put out of the garden is to make sure they did not eat of the Tree of Life because if they did their now sinful corrupted life would never die making Gods plan of sacrifice as redemption not usable and mankind would have to be destroyed completely....which is exactly what satan wanted and attempted to accomplish through his deceiving Eve into believing she would not die

This also led to the reason that Jesus was to be born far away and Herod was not to know where, cause again satan wanted to destroy the only way there was for mankind to be redeemed by killing the Messiah before his time is ready.

I would agree that the Tree was not the cause of death, but rather the transgression

I'm not at all sure where the following quote comes from though:

I understand the Word was the tree of life in the midst (primary position) of the garden.

I am pretty sure that allegories or spiritual attachments could be made to most anything, but if everything is spirit, it starts to sound like Gnosticism...if everything is spirit,

then I don't think Jesus would have had an actual physical body when He rose from the dead

I think we should be careful about adding to the actual narrative...some things are PHYSICAL and some things are SPIRITUAL and some are both

down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

Rev. 22:2......this is in heaven......I don't think this is a spirit tree, eh?

also spoken of by Ezekiel : Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing." 47:12

and this is interesting: Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

Rev. 2:7

God is Life, our Father, and He is the Root of our family tree. God is the head of our house which is a royal house because God is King.

At the risk of hijacking the conversation...

Let's observe the conditions and events in Eden.

Man(kind) was being given a true choice.

To follow God or not to follow God.

There had to be true options or there would be no true choice.

The Tree of Life had something to do with making permanent mankind's status. This is why after the fall of mankind, they were kept from accessing the tree of life.

This indicates something most at least seem to be oblivious to. God in dealing with sin down here on earth is dealing with it everywhere also (meaning also in the spirit realm with the angels).

We know from the oldest book of the Bible (Job) that God on occasion (in the past anyway) met with Satan and the two discussed events down here on earth... and even entered into a bargain (if not a wager). See Job chapters 1 and 2.

Point being, before God created the physical realm, the angels who fell stood judgment. Since they are already in their final state, and cannot die, to sin once was to be under judgment forever and ever. Before sentencing came, the accuser dared to state that God is not just. God is not fair. And nothing God says or does could prove otherwise.

Empty words.

But God set out to prove them wrong as well as empty in that he (God) is more than fair, absolutely just, and he will spare nothing from the infinitely small to the infinitely large proving this and in addition to all that, he will be more glorious than ever. And he turned and spoke the master plan into existence. "Let light be!" Genesis 1.

All the created things in this physical realm everywhere was created to do these things. And the Lord Creator himself would step into the physical realm to pay the price for human sin enabling mankind to be redeemed. And it had to star with man having a true choice. The same way the angels that fell had a true choice.

If A&E had chosen the tree of life... God would have been spared the hell of becoming a man and laying that life down to raise it again the third day.

But Satan was given certain abilities (to influence Eve for one) thinking he was making God suffer but he (Satan) was playing right into God's hand.

He realized this most when after he went for broke and possessed Judas Iscariot (thinking it was go for broke time getting Jesus executed) that it was God's plan all along that Jesus dies for the sins of humanity. THAT is what Judas' so-called remorse was all about. He was trying to throw a monkey wrench into the execution of Jesus but he'd done too good a job corrupting the Sanhedrin and he threw the 30 pieces of silver at them. Then the man Judas (who could not abide the Satanic rage inside anymore than the herd of swine could the legion of demons) hung himself. This incarcerated the devil and Judas in the abyss (the gulf between the condemned side of the grave and the now empty side called Abraham's Bosom) until he is released for a short season (Revelation 20).

In Eden... the tree of the knowledge of good and evil... was it in and of itself evil?

My guess is that IT was not. That A&E broke the one and only commandment of God not to eat from it was the sin and evil resulted from it. First of all because of the disobedience... and secondly because mankind (and angelic kind for that matter) does not possess the capabilities to rightly decide between good and evil. A kid with an infected cut on his foot screams and screams in agony as their parent digs and digs into the wound to drain it so the child does not lose the foot or even die. But that child only sees that the parent is trying to kill them at the time (or so it seems).

Good or evil?

This is a major reason why we have the Bible. Even with all the technology and university education and all the brilliant minds we have ever had in human history... we cannot properly adequately judge between good and evil. In effect, the fruit eaten was humanity taking a bigger bite that it could ever chew.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 (KJV)

21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

1 John 4:1 (KJV)

1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try {test} the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Acts 17:11 (KJV)

11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (KJV)

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)

15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Hey 2404,

I'm still waiting for what you mean by a word seed?

Hello JTC

I trust you will excuse me for being so slow.

Scripture makes many references to sowing seed, good and otherwise.

Satan’s desire is to foil God’s plan so in the garden he chose to strike at Eve to try and spoil things.

Satan being a spirit entered into the serpent (who at that time was an upright humanoid being) and used him to entice Eve by reasoning against God’s word.

Gen.3:4&5 “And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”

The serpent was able to explain it so clearly that Eve accepted it (beguiled).

Today, the dialog may be along the lines of:

Look what I am trying to tell you, you are wonderfully made, look at the possibilities.

Look, God is trying to keep something from you.

Right now you are ignorant but if you take my advice you will be in the know, this is a great thing.

All things belonged to Adam and Eve they had power over everything and they lived by God’s Word, but there existed the possibility to transgress, step out.

In our current condition a word is an intangible concept but when God speaks it becomes reality.

Perhaps you have heard that 'real' faith is a substance, it doesn’t matter what comes against it you know you have it.

As in healing, if God drops something down in your heart that you are going to be well it doesn’t matter what the doctor says you know it is going to be as you have received.

I believe that the tree of the knowledge of good and evil existed in a similar reality.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
