Hi Skyes,

It seems to me that you need to `rest,` `quieten your mind.` Obviously that is not easy with your medical condition but you can do certain things yourself. You know what gets your mind racing, & we all have to watch this too. We need to be careful of what we `feed ` our minds & how much TV & computer games we watch as it can over stimulate our nervous system.

We are `managers` of our body & we need to attend to them carefully if we want them to respond properly, or better. It seems to me you are trying to get God`s OK for everything you do. That would cause undue agitation & fear again on your nervous system. God desires for us to be able to manage our lives day to day healthy. He will not be asking you or telling you things beyond your capabilities at the moment. Get your daily life operating & then start working with the Lord on your attitude to others. That is the journey we are all on. One step at a time & you`ll begin to be more confident & trusting in the Lord for you`ll see how He is walking through this life with you.

God bless, Marilyn.

Dear Skyes....

What can I say  "Don't shoot the messenger"  Nobody here is telling you to DO anything,we are merely passing on what the Word of God says....though you say you have read it ,it does not seem you have received any revelation ,,,,IDK?

You see, when we/I say ,,,,"submit" or "commit" or "surrender"....that is really when you come to that realization that you are not DOING anything but letting go of yourself, your will, your heart, your mind, your soul.......it doesn't matter if you were born in the church or in the gutter, doesn't matter if you read the Bible 18 hrs a day or never learned to read.....God is not a respecter of persons......He looks at the earnest heart, the one humbled, asking forgiveness,in need of Him & willing to repent & forsake their own will,,,,,,,are you that person?

Perhaps you are very close to the Truth, talking about what you have been taught & knowing it is not that simple,,,,john 3:16 is not just words    "Whosoever believes in Him,SHOULD not perish...."   That word "should" gives us a hint that there is more to it than simply saying "I believe"......you said you're not even sure He exists......Skyes,if you EVER met Jesus, there would be no doubt in your mind. Is a person really forsaking their own will to someone they doubt exists?

There is something else to,I think you are looking to "feel" something exraordinary, magical, supernatural,,,,,,,,nothing about a relationship with God can be built on feelings,it is all about knowing, believing & faith........as long as you are sitting on the fence & dabbling in curiosity with every other god of this world you are going to be deceived & blinded......the enemy will satisfy your every temporal & fleshly desire,,,you can see magical things, you can hear voices, you can touch worldly treasures & you can feel many pleasurable  things...............with God Almighty,we walk by FAITH & not by sight,,,,,,,,,,He wants to be earnestly sought,He wants to be FIRST & above all,,,,,,,He is Sovereign God Almighty & He will have Mercy on who He will have Mercy on.....everything is on His terms & His terms alone......yet,He loves you

                                                                                    With love-in Christ,Kwik

Thank you, friend :)

God is not a ATM, an Auto Teller.

We don't put prayers in and expect answers out. We know the teller is there, we accept it can do what it does, we trust it will deliver what we ask, but we only go to it when we need it. That is how many people view their "faith" today.

We are in the dry period here at the moment. i have just come out of the Kruger National Park, 19,000 square miles God's creation. Everything is dry, brittle, dusty, even along the river edges (some rivers are dry). But in this grey, dry environment, along the river beds, stands every now and again a giant Sycamore Fig tree. They are huge, and beautiful and bright green with leaves. They stand out because of their bright green leaves and their towering size. Underneath of Sudwala mountain there are caves 180 feet deep beneath the rock that stretch back miles. When you look up at the roof of the caves you can see roots from a towering fig 180 feet above that reach down through the rock into the cave for water.

Want to know what faith really is? Want to know what a true relationship with God is?

Look at the Sycamore Fig and its roots, not the ATM.

I can post scripture about barren soils, and rich soils, but you get the picture..

Thank you! This helped me a lot. The best message I got so far.

You trusted in your works, not in God.  God knows the inner most desires we have, and is interested in creating in you a new creations where the old man dies and the new creation lives.  It is God who does the work, not us.  If we could do it ourselves, there would be no need for Christ to of come, and no salvation from our sins.  Scripture tells us our righteousness are as filthy rags.  We can never be "good enough".

So you understand, mans doctrine is not embedded deep in me.  His words are.  So you also further understand, I have seldom been in a church, except for short periods of time.  I rely on a relationship with Him, not the doctrine of denominations.  Be sure of what you say before saying it.

How do you know that? You can't say that without knowing it. I did trust in God, more than anything. I still do.

You still think the bible is God's words, and that it is irrefutable, wich is prety sad. Most crimes commited by the catholic church in the inquisition derive from the same perspective. The muslims also use the Quran in the same way to explode people and go to "heaven", or the Torah, and so on. That is the problem. People don't think with their own minds anymore, they blindly belive in a book, and wage war against each other to proove wich book is the true God's word. It's quite sad, to be honest.

And about your second comment, I never mentioned denominations. Read my post before saying it. And I am fairly sure you carry at least one preach from a pastor to base yourself with.

I know that you trust in your own works by how many times you mentioned what you did compared to haw many times you mentioned how Christ worked through you. Count the "I" statements.

Your example of how men use religion to do horrific things is not disputable, but what you seem to not realize is that anyone can call themselves Christian or Muslim, but completely miss what the books are saying. Those who are real Christians allow the Holy Spirit to create in them a new creation, one like Jesus. Those who do such monstrosities are not being led by God, but men. You really cannot blame scripture for how people abuse it. You clearly show the side of religion without showing the side of a relationship with God.

As for not mentioning denominations, then explain what you meant by "and the "gospel" preached by your pastors and leaders". This sure sounds like speaking about denominations since a pastor has to have a church denomination, even if it is called a nondenominational church. Perhaps you should read your own word as others will read them before posting to ensure what you want to say is what you are saying.

So what? I am not allowed to mention my own experiences to judge what is right or wrong?

Second, english is not my main language. So when I mentioned the Gospel, I meant the whole christianity aspect, as that is what it means here in Brazil. I see it caused quite a misunderstanding, but let me tell you something:

Jesus taught us to love the others as we love ourselves, never judge, and spread love through our words. That is not what I saw from you, that came unto me with sticks and stones. All the other members were quite gentle with their comments and advices, and will cause me to have great insights for a long time. But you were the most rude person in this Forum. So far you are showing the opposite way of being a true christian. Congratulations for that.

Blessings Skyes.....

You are very welcome,it is my pleasure.............I would have never known that English is not your first language but in sharing that ,it really can lead to misunderstanding,so I am glad you have said that,I know I will be mindful of it......

I think you may have misunderstood Brother One Light,& he certainly can speak for himself....I know him & he meant know offense to you but the way you worded it may have caused a misunderstanding on both sides.......we are ALL glad you are here & will do our very best to answer your questions but try to understand ,we are all going to try to help you to see Gods Truth & the Word of God is the Word of God and as Christians we hope to walk with you to the foot of the cross &  celebrate you having not only Salvation but a true relationship with Christ........perhaps you have had false teachings, who knows?Something went wrong & we only hope you can receive what we have and be fulfilled & free in Christ,,,,,,& all the wonderful Joys & Love you can have

Skyes, I have know OneLight for many years, and believe me he is one of the most spirit filled men i know. His advice is good, whether you want to hear it or not. And i know it comes from his heart. he is the least vindictive, accusatory person I know, and he stands firmly on the foundation of the truth of the Gospel (which is the the Bible, the Word of God).

He gives good advice about posting on Worthy as well. I often compose a post on Word before copying it to Worthy, and I sit on the post for hours before posting at times. Especially if i am irritated or angry. In this way I give myself time to assess what i am saying (I do this with some e mails at work as well...)

Hello everyone. I am new here, and I like the forum so far.

I am 25, and have pure O OCD (purely obsessive), so it feels like my mind is my ''enemy'', and never leaves me alone or in peace. It keeps giving my horrific images, thoughts and scenes all the time.

I am extremelly anxious as well, wich is the cause for the OCD.

So, after a few years, I learned that whenever I prayed asking God to relieve me from this pain, He did, instantly. It seemed like He placed His hands in my head an pulled all the negative thoughts and energy out. It seemed like magic.

It also happens in other situations where I suffer, as in relationships, for example. I suffer a LOT in relationships. If I like a girl and she doesn't like me back, I just happen to sit in my room and cry for weeks, and It takes more than a year for me to forget her (it happenned 3 times already, with 3 different girls). So, I found out that if I pray to God, asking him to relieve me of that pain, He also does the same. I feel instantly at peace. But it is a constant struggle. I have to repeat the prayer everytime I think of her or that I feel bad, or have intrusive thoughts (caused by the OCD).

The question is, is this really God? Or could this be my own mind playing tricks with me?

If it is God, why do I have to keep constantly asking for His help, as if it was a duel of magic against my own mind? Why don't He already relieve me from my torment forever?

How can I get closer to Him, if that is the case? I have tried many things, but I feel like I am far away from Him. I read the bible, I pray a lot every day, I do fastings of all kind. Even stood eating only rice and bread for a week. I felt really close to Him that time, tho.

I also fear that if I pray too much and "abuse" this "power", I will get addicted to it and it won't work anymore, or I will stop living life as a normal, thinking human.

Anyway, sorry for the wall of text. I had to get it out of my chest. I hope I can get some opinions on this. Anything will be greatly appreciated. But no flaming, please.

God bless.

There is only one way to get closer to Jesus. Forgive everyone first, then ask for forgiveness, and then pray. He wants you to turn to him. You and your ancestors have sinned against Him. Yes, that sounds like God, and do not compare His work to magic. Magic (not the bunny in the hat kind) is real and He hates it. Magic is defined as trying to enact change in the physical world by your own will. This normally involves the help of a demon (whether the person using magic knows it or not). Think "Law of Attraction." Look at what happened when Moses was speaking for God to Pharaoh.

ETA: The only thoughts that are truly from us are the ones we will into existence. The rest, even those caused by genetics, are normally attacks from the enemy (the enemy often attacks through our genetic weaknesses. Don't forget why we have those in the first place); although sometimes they come from the Holy Spirit.

You have no idea how much I have prayed, friend. Really, I used to pray a lot, everyday.

About your second statement, do you have any evidence or proof to base yourself on what you told?

Make sure to pray as you were taught. In secret, and after forgiving everyone and asking for forgiveness.

As for the second statement, knowledge of that comes through being able to discern. I don't like to play copy/paste with the Word because if I do that I can make it look like God said anything I want to say He said. The more you understand the Word, the better you become at discernment. You will not be able to understand the Word unless you give your heart to Jesus, though (even if you understand the words you read). It seems you have already done that.

It should be noted that a carnal mind is firmly under Satan's control, and we should still repent for our bad thoughts. The reasons we should repent of them are not as simple as they appear, though. Everything is connected.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
