This argument has been going on since 2003 hmbld......    I've posted reams of things in the past to have people just say......   that's not true.

 

I stopped spending loads of time a while back...    If you are really interested and want to spend some time I can suggest several books with loads of documents that can't be put here......

You can't argue with the willfully ignorant.  I don't have the patience, temperment or inclination.  It's not a matter of salvation as far as I'm concerned, so why bother. 

 

I have been studying this subject since I became a Christian in 1982.  The last book on the subject I read was Steven Dill's "In the Beginnings".  Just a brilliant book.  The author found my praise of his book on a previous forum discussing this subject in painstaking detail and he and I corresponded for awhile.  There's another book that he recommended that I haven't finished (not because it's not a good book.  Medications I have to take so I can work have made reading quite a bit slower.)

Not really interested in the book of enoch, as you said yourself it might only have some truth in it.  Why spend any time with that?  I don't spend a lot of time following these threads, but in the last several pages you are not presenting a solid case.  

I'm not really invested in this thread, but i think it is important to recognize when something contradicts the bible, and a strong case is made against enoch, big bang, and gap theory.  Scripture was given 3 pages ago proving gap theory false.  I was surprised at the John 3:16 claim though.  If someone is using that reference as an excuse to live sinfully, really shows the condition of their heart.  A certain translation is not contributing to their heart condition; even a casual examination of scripture show we are not to sin at will, and when a person believes John 3:16, does a change occur where they no longer look for a free pass to sin?

Truth is not arrived at by a majority vote.  Something is not deemed correct because of who believes it or how many. Truth is what it is and so far when presented with actual facts, you are AWOL.   

 

I never said it was.  I believe the Biblical teachings of these men over yours.  These are learned men of God.  You -- I don't know.

And yes the big bang does pose a threat to biblical truth.  One cannot accept the big bang (which was formulated to deny biblical truth) and still hold to a literal interpretation of Scripture.

 

That is an unsubstantiated lie.  Repent of your sin before it's too late.  When you have to lie to make a point, that's truly sad and you should be ignored.  We don't need Christians like that
