I cut my teeth on Amplified when I was 13.  Mom gave me an RSV, then I used NASV, and now my go to is NKJV.   But I like to reference Young's,  Wuest's expanded version, and ALT3.  The latter two help to translate verb tenses and other grammar that does not directly translate to English.  I do prefer versions that put words in italics that were not in the original text.

I also consider it more important to read the Bible than to worry about the correct translation.  But some are not translations but are paraphrases, such as the Living Bible, and others are deliberate perversions such as the Jehovah's Witnesses New World Translation.  These are to be avoided for serious Bible Study.

The KJV does little for me.  I tend to stumble over the archaic words and miss the meaning; that is, I can't see the forest because of the trees.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 (NLT)

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 (ESV)

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 (NASB)

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 (KJV)

Years ago I wondered about the different translations, and what, if any were the differences between them. I started studying the differences and was astonished in the deliberate mistranslations of most of the versions from one another. From reading several books by Dr. Floyd Nolen Jones, and setting versions side by side and following his studies, it is very apparent most of the versions were translated to dilute the deity of Christ and/or change words that take the meaning of scripture out of the bounds of absolute.

Most all bible version come from two translation sources, Origen’s 5th column, and the Textus Receptus. I will not spend the many hours of typing it would take to point this out. However, I’d encourage all whom are really interested to find out the history of the sources used to translation what you are reading in your favorite version, to read and do a follow along study with the books written by Dr. Floyd Nolen Jones on this subject. I am sure most here will be shocked as I original was to find out the belief systems of the translators and why they changed so much of the scriptural text and it’s context.

I use King James. I still have my first bible given to me when I was 7 years old by my grand parents. It is a little larger than pocket size JKV with a white cover. It was a Christmas gift and my grandparents signed it to me. I was able not to lose or misplace this bible, even when I thought it missing, it'd be in a drawer or box that I apparently placed it in for safe keeping and just forgot.

I've seen all of his books online at one time or another, a search may find the rest of them.

Must we take scripture out of context just to make a point. Why can't a point be made forthrightly without perverting the scriptures in order to do so. It is a shame to misuse scripture in such a manner. Even when someone is trying to make a point on what they consider their views for the Lord in the topic of the thread. It turns me off literally if they misuse and misquote scriptures to make their point. It is just plain wrong. It's better to say nothing than to twist and pervert scripture.

Somebody actually tried to rip the Holy Bible out of someone's hands?  Really Fresno Joe?  And just who did that?  I have never even seen a KJV only person or someone on the other side do that.  The only people I know of that actually have done that is communists in communist block nations.  I just expose the truth about the errors in false translations, and make it clear that if it floats someone's boat to read a Bible full of errors, be my guest.....

Yet It Happens In My Neck Of The Woods

My people are being destroyed because they don't know me. Since you priests refuse to know me, I refuse to recognize you as my priests. Since you have forgotten the laws of your God, I will forget to bless your children. Hosea 4:6 (NLT)

And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. Acts:3-6

Who Fresno Joe tried to get someone to stop believing in Jesus?  I haven't seen anyone but the non-believers do that.  I know that I haven't.  I testify that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God.  I am offended by the people that keep promoting false Bible translations.  Does that mean woe unto those people who are offending me, or does it only apply to me if I happen to offend them?  Do I become their enemy for telling them the truth?  Just some things to ponder.

You have a choice when you go to the store concerning what translation to purchase to give away.  I once gave away a pocket New Testament to someone seeking God, but it was King James.  I wouldn't choose to purchase anything but a King James Bible, except to possibly use it to examine for errors.  I wouldn't dream of giving one of them to someone, anymore than I would intentionally give a counterfeit 20 dollar bill to a homeless man.  I would either give him a genuine bill or nothing, and the same thing applies to the Bible.  Now I would never go up to someone and try to take their counterfeit money away or their counterfeit Bible.  If someone wants to use something that is not genuine, that is between the government in the case of money, and God in the case of scripture, but I will warn of the dangers.  Why are the children's hands trembling, and who is ripping their Bible away?  I just found that post bazaar in trying to understand how it applies to anything that has been said or done.  It gives the impression people are going around grabbing Bibles out of the hands of invalids, and telling those who believe in Jesus he is not God, when nothing could be further from the truth.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
