Hi Kan,

You hold ground really well. I just thought I`d write this explanation.

`aggelos,` to bring tidings, messenger. (Rev. 10: 1)

If you look at overall body of false teachings out there in the world, one thing that most of the cults that try to use the Bible is that they have an inordinate focus on angels.    When people start trying to give angels divine qualities or when they start equate angels with Jesus, then you know you have false teachings on your hands.    Islam started with "revelation from angel."   Mormons started with "revelation" from an angel to Joseph Smith.  The Gnostics had an obsession with angels.

The description of the angel in revelation 10 is John's description of an hydrogen bomb! Gods judgment on that great city Babylon the Great

And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.  Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:  And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth. On this day there will come such a nuclear exchange that God will have to intervene.

Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.

the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb

No, I don't think the angel being described is actually a hydrogen bomb.

I haven't had time to think about this, so this theory could be seriously flawed. I heard it from a poster on another site. So without dwelling on it too much, I've decided to jump in the deep end and see what others might think:

Could the book in Revelation 10 be referring to the Q'uran?

Angels can also mean fallen angels.

The seven thunders. Who are they? Are they demonic in nature?

John was told not to write down what the seven thunders had uttered.

The book tastes as sweet as honey but leaves bitterness in the belly. The Q'uran is said to be poetic and seductive but when one digests its message it leads to bitterness and death.

I have read the Qur'an from cover to cover.   It is the farthest thing from poetry you can read.   It is not seductive and it isn't coherent.  The thing reads like a phone book.  Really.

I work at a State College.

One day I approached four Muslim students sitting at a table in our lunch cafe.   I introduced myself and told the three young men and young woman that I had a question about the Qur'an.    I already knew the answer, but I asked it anyway just to see if they knew.

Question:  The Qur'an says that when the apostle of Allah speaks, one should listen and do what he says.   Who is the apostle of Allah?

I said that in Christianity an apostle was a man who went about preaching the gospel and establishing churches.  An apostle was one who defined the faith and who traveled extensively preaching and doing good works.   I said that a Christian apostle was a good man.

So who is the apostle of Allah?

We talked a bit and eventually all four admitted that they did not know who that person might be.  They also told me that the Qur'an was too confusing and that I shouldn't read it.

I tend to agree with them on the confusion part.

What they did not know and what I can tell you is that the Qur'an says Mohammad [pbuh] is the apostle of Allah.   He wore many hats, as it were.

I recommend reading the Qur'an for two reasons and two only.

1. If you want to get a little idea what the books says (and conversely what Muslims do NOT know about it).

2. If you enjoy being bored out of your skull trying to read the thing.

Otherwise, stick to the Bible.   As a comparison...............well, there's really no comparison.

and that's me, hollering from the choir loft...

I too have read the Q'uran. If you read my testimony, you will know that I came to Christianity from originally studying and researching Islam - and you are right, the Q'uran is not poetry... it is a terribly written, badly grammatical, awfully  threatening and boring book. But when read it in Arabic it is meant to sound poetic (although I believe it is probably only poetic to those with ears that are closed to God and are already under the spell of Satan). Cat Stevens (aka Yusuf Islam) converted to Islam because he claimed that the Q'uran was poetic. Many people claim that the Q'uran is poetic. Poetic probably infers 'seductive'.

But please do not lecture me on the Q'uran or on the Hadiths or on Islam. I know that you have been on Worthy for some time but you are a fly-by-night, hit-and-run poster who appears here once a blue moon, says your little piece and then disappears again.

If you disagree that Revelation 10 is referring to the Q'uran - that's fine. It is only a topic for discussion and was not meant to be a teaching.

I really like that view little lamb, I never looked at it that way, but I think we are getting ahead of our selves for we are still dealing with the world today , in the times of the evil wicked ones closing in on the saints and we are to endure in our faith no matter what happens, and know that God has our lives in his hands, we need to focus more on jesus and reach people for the saving of souls and gather for the harvest, for the reaping of the harvest is around the corner. and we don't have much time to do the will of our God amen...., but I am learning a lot with all of you in the short time I am on this site, this is great for me to see really hard hitting bible stompers, feeding the sheep.

A hydrogen bomb is described as an angel?  Even in Biblical times I can't see anyone coming to such a conclusion.

You WILL find a lot of really knowledgable people here, Sinner Saved.  That being said, you will also probably have to hold your own with very strong personalities if you stay here.  It's worth it.  Welcome to Worthy.

Good point, I noticed that years ago, and remembered the very straight forward command to John not the bow and worship the angel.

At that time New Age had jumped into the angel fascination spree.

There are a few things we ought to know about angels of God, which would help us to spot deceptions, but that's another topic.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
