God instructed Israel to bind His statutes on their hand and on their forehead, to teach them to their offspring at every opportunity per Deuteronomy 11:18-19.  Is it a coincidence that the false prophet likewise requires his mark on the hand or forehead?

Granted, the false prophet's mark is required to conduct a financial transaction.  That's what we know.  Could it also be used to monitor people's on-going compliance with his statutes; the ones the people of the world collaborated on that he gave life to, namely, the image of the beast?  Receiving the mark is always mentioned with worshiping the image.

I see both God's and the false prophet's hand / forehead requirement as relating to lifestyle worship.  I'm interested in others' thoughts on the similarity, if any.

I can only go by what the Bible says as far as the placement Revelation 14:9.

I believe the acceptance of the mark will be an initiation into the beast system. It will of course be for buying and selling. I believe all the scanning technologies developed over the years are designed for a future implementation of the system. All consumer items now, require a scanning code of some type for the purpose of tracking origin, shipping, time of purchase, along with the identity of the purchaser if not by a cash purchase. All they really have to do is do away with the monetary system, and require all transactions to be scanned. I believe it is safe to presume whatever the mark is, once it is place on the right hand of forehead, it will be used to scan purchases, apparently automatically crediting and debiting accounts. We are basically doing this now every time we swipe a card.

The acceptance of the beast system by receiving the mark, will be one’s total and final rejection of Christ as Lord and Savior, and His rightful sovereigns to rule and judge this world.

Since biometrics and chip implants are now quite common, we should expect that this technology will be used by the Antichrist to identify and monitor those who will worship the Beast and his image. There is certainly a spiritual significance to the right hand and the forehead. Just as the 144,000 believing Jews take God's seal on their foreheads (Rev 7:3), the unbelieving masses will take Satan's seal on their foreheads.  Just as God's people indicate fellowship with the right hand of fellowship (Gal 2:9), Satan's people will give their right hand of fellowship to the Beast. We can discuss this in a detached and clinical manner, but the reality will be horrendous.

That's an interesting view, the right hand of fellowship. Certainly fits.

Any thoughts on the similarity between what God required of Israel (statutes on right hand and forehead) and the mark of the beast being the same location?

The forehead protects the frontal lobe of the brain, which is essentially the soul:

The frontal lobe is the part of the brain that controls important cognitive skills in humans, such as emotional expression, problem solving, memory, language, judgment, and sexual behavior. It is, in essence, the “control panel” of our personality and our ability to communicate.

Those with God's mark on their foreheads love God with their heart, mind, soul, and strength. Those with Satan's mark love the deceptions of Satan (2 Thess 2:9-12).

Regarding the right hand, God has generally made humans right-handed, and every work of man is dependent on the right hand. One can either dedicate it to the Kingdom of God, or to the kingdom of Satan.

Thus when God told Israel to place reminders of Himself on the right hand and the forehead, it was to provide a physical confirmation of a spiritual reality.  Those under the New Covenant have the Law written on their hearts, whereas those under the Old Covenant had it written on tablets of stone.

As it relates to the making an image in Isaiah the right hand is spoken of here also

Isaiah 44:20 He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

Doesnt it also speak elsewhere of one who loveth and maketh a lie in some sense of things as well?

The Mark of the beast will only be inserted into either the right hand or forehead as scripture states.  It will not be  inserted into the left hand or anywhere else.  The people will be given only these two options and none other,  so wait and see when the time comes it will be clear that there are only two options where it can be inserted, ....and this is final warning sign to us that this is the Mark of the Beast spoken of in Rev if any are in doubt.  (I have noticed RFID chips currently are inserted into the left hand, this is to hide what it is at the moment.)

It makes sense to me that if one does not have a right hand, he's always got a head. 

In some countries where temperatures can get down to -20 degrees celcius, they have to be careful of frostbite.  So a glove might get in the way, and the forehead an easier option.  ....but...If a normal glove is no barrier to scanning the RFID chip, then a special glove could be made and lined with tinfoil or a some sort of cover to block the RFID reading, ...like they have for credit cards.  This makes more sense to me that prisoners, or people of threat will be made to have their RFID chip inserted into their forehead instead because it's harder to hide a cover.  Maybe they will make it law that beanies be removed for some at certain times? 

People are always finding ways to beat the system, but the beast will have all options of threat explored beforehand.   Either way, once the mark is accepted, it's too late.  Hiding it is not going to change anything and cannot revert the decision already taken.

Anyway these are just my thoughts.

Since God's seal is in the heart and actions, the decisions and works, we can expect that the worship of the beast and receiving his mark is about thinking and doing his will.

The economic sanctions and threats of death, can be implemented with or without today's technology. Years ago people were adamant that the technology in their day was the mark of the beast, but it has been superseded a long time ago. So we can guess that one, but the issue is about worship, which takes place in our minds (the forehead) and in our actions (the hand).

To receive the mark then, may not be about shopping vouchers or metal bits in your body, which can be put in anywhere in your body, but about thoughts and actions.

Many people will do it and not like it, and others will like it as well. It will be a conscious effort or just complying to stay alive.

The seal of God is in the mind and actions, the work of God in the heart and in the life (actions).

This is explained well in the OP, that receiving the mark is about what we have allowed to shape our lives, either the world with its desires or the life with Christ.
