What is your favorite Scripture?

Has anyone else here noticed because of the Internet you rarely open a Bible because you can find it all online.

It's just not the same though IMO.

At any rate, post your favorite Scripture so I can highlight it in my new Bible.

2 cor 12

in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan,to torment me. ⁸ Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.⁹ 

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.¹⁰ 

That is why, for Christ’s sake, I take pleasure in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."

I have a Bible program on my pc with about ten different translations along with basically word for word linear translation of both the Textus Recptus and the Nestle/Allen manuscripts.         I have an online app on my tablet that has 37 different translations and word for word translation from Hebrew/Greek to english with Strongs definitions of all those words.....     The apps and my Pc is much easier to read and cross reference to study books and all kinds of aids......    Why in the world would I want to have to carry around a book that you loose your place in any time you drop it or put it away.

I also listen to it a lot on my computer and phone.....   another interesting experience when done over a longer period of time.

 Parable of the Persistent Widow

Luke

 

18 Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. ² He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. ³ And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’

⁴ “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, ⁵ yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”

⁶ And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. ⁷ And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? ⁸ I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes,will he find faith on the earth?”

The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector

⁹ To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable:¹⁰ “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. ¹¹ The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. ¹² I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’

¹³ “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’

¹⁴ “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

The Little Children and Jesus

¹⁵ People were also bringing babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. ¹⁶ But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.¹⁷ Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”

 

So what the tax collector shows me is that one very powerful way to pray is to Humble oneself with a contrite heart , and the worst way to pray is to pray with a self-righteoheart heart.

The Widow taught me to knock and knock and knock even to the point of pestering God is powerful  Prayer.

The Children teach me to go to God with innocence, Simplicity, and humility.

1 Kings 19

¹¹ The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”

Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 

 

¹² After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.¹³ When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave."

That verse came shortly after Elijah was feeling suicidal and asked God to kill him, and the Angel fed Him.

Good to see you back and those two verses are truly excellent.  I have too many to list.
