Well,

A Blog is a web log, a weBLOG. Just a pace to record thoughts that you care to share. It can be like a diary, but diaries are more like notes to yourself, not usually designed for public consumption.

I have to admit, I am dumbfounded by certain aspects of public  web life (is that a blife). Take Twitter for example. As far as I can tell, it has it's place. Some people have followers, and that is a way for a person to keep their followers updated. That can make sense in situations where a person who has legitimate fans, and the person likes to keep there fans updated, perhaps to thank them or their loyalty and support. Perhaps a politician wants a way to communicate easily and rapidly with his/her support base, "Tweeting" them is a very easy way to do so. What I do not get (and I apologize for insulting some of you) is people who tweet things like:

"It is almost time for lunch, I think I will stop at the next GreaseBurger and get a combo, you know, with a large soda and mushy, tasteless fries. Maybe after that, I will top off my tank at the next gas station".

That kind of tweet, to me, seems extremely self absorbed. What would make us think, that anyone is that interested in every little mundane event in our lives? We live is a very self focused society and time. Maybe it was always this way, but it seems like the internet (especially) has created a culture where we place value on being the center of attention. It is as if the universe revolves around us, and we want to make sure that others understand that. An example:

We have a new word - "Selfie". Almost sounds like selfish? Selfies became what they are, because it seems as though cell phones made certain we carry a camera with us. Now, we have an excuse to let others know again, that we are the center of the universe. "Look, here I am eating a GreaseBurger".

People go on vacations. They want to share that with their friends. We used to take pictures, and because film and development cost money, we did not take thousands of them. Some of you reading this, may not even know what film is. In any case, we would take the pictures, and later, when we got them back from being developed, we might put them in an album, or maybe just kept them in the envelope we got them in when we received them back from the developer. In those days, a friend might come over and we would say: "Hey, want to see my pictures of the Grand Canyon?" Then the person could say yes of no, and we would respond in harmony with their wishes. Now, it is different. Now, we take a selfie, and send it to them without asking them. Once in a while, I get a selfie. It might come in an email. or it might be posted in FaceBook (more on that in a bit). The selfie though, is different than pictures used to be. In the old days, a person had a picture of a stunning view of the Grand Canyon. Now we get a picture of our friend, blocking a stunning view of the Grand Canyon. Hey, it's okay though, after all, the universe revolves around us!

FaceBook

Now, FaceBook, is another creature. There we accumulate 'friends'. For many  of us, these friends are people we do not even know. My friend list is 80 people long usually. One of my friends is appalled that I keep that list down to 80 people. He does not seem to get, that I have other things do do with my time that read Facebook all day. Too many friends = too many Facebook posts. The problem with Facebook posts, is that once again, so many of them are like tweets. Here is a 'meme' I really liked. Here is a cute cat video, which I found funny. Her is a joke that made me laugh. Here is a political message that you need to pass on to your friends, because I think it is important. Again, I think that too often, the focus is on what we think and we like and what we think you should also like. In fact, there is even a 'like' feature on facebook, so that you can validate my existence. If I am really obnoxious, I will try to manipulate your behavior:

"If you agree, send this to your friends!"

"Be sure to 'like' this."

"if you are a real (choose one) Christian, caring person, patriot, etc., you will forward this to ten others.

"This is a post to see how many are REALLY my friends, reply if you care about me"

Give it a rest, contrary to popular belief, the universe does NOT revolve around you!

So, how is a Blog different?

Well, a Blog is not altogether different, but it is not the same either. One thing about a Blog, is that it is not pushed, not sent. Sure, it can have a subscribe feature,  but it is much more voluntary typically, more of an optional experience for the reader. I never had and never wanted a Blog, until George (the steward of this site) asked me to. He thought it would be a good idea, so that users of the site, could get to know the staff here a little better. So, I started a blog for that reason. Some people Blog regularly, even daily. In my case, I blog occasionally. I now keep a Blog on a separate website, where I have better control over it's appearance, than I have here. However, I do not publish it for the world to see, I do not send it or invite real world friends to it. It remains something that I maintain for Worthy people. What is it that is different, the way I use it, from Facebook or from tweets or from even posting in threads on forums here, is that I use it a little like a writer on a newspaper, has a column.

On the forums here, I could start a thread, but that is a polylogue, a conversation or a discussion, (often a debate) about a topic, where everyone participates equally as they choose. In my Blog, I say what I have to say, and people may choose to respond, but the topic stays more focuses. Like an article in a paper, it is the subject. Others can comment, but there is not really as much of an open discussion as there is on a forum thread. In a forum thread, is seems like everyone wants to be heard, and there is nothing wrong with that. However, in the Blog, the Blogger exercises a little more control, and it is not as much of a chaotic free-for-all.

People who write Blogs, do so in their own style, are more in control of the terms, and it reflects their character and their thoughts, it is a little bit more about the Blogger and his/her topic, and a little bit less about what the community thinks. For good or for bad, this is how I see it.

Conclusion

You will have noticed, that this was a bit of an editorial. That is how I see a blog. It is an opportunity for a person to editorialize, to have a column of their own. If it were a form thread, it would be a thread about "Omegaman's Various Thoughts". Now, this of course, falls into the same trap that those other things do that I discussed here, and that is the me aspect of things. If you have the idea, that your thoughts and opinions are at all interesting or helpful, even entertaining, then you Blog. Otherwise, perhaps you want to have less self focus, and you blend in with the other voices trying to be heard in a forum thread.

I hope this has proven somewhat informative on Blogging in general, even if it was really my thoughts on Blogging. This post, by the way, is sort of an example, of what a blog topic itself might look liked, a bit of an article featuring one person's thoughts.

Other ways to Blog

People are not clear about what it takes to qualify to have a blog on worthy Christian forums. Basically, it is available for people who have more than 2500 posts here.

However, if you want to have a blog, there are quite a few websites out there which will let you have a free blogging account. A few of those are listed below;

http://blog.com

http://blogger.com

http://medium.com

http://penzu.com

http://tumblr.com

http://webs.com

http://weebly.com

http://wix.com

http://wordpress.com

If you use one of these or some other blogging site, or if you do as I do and have a blog on your own website somewhere, you can always put a link to your blog in your profile here. However you need to be aware that if your blog does not conform to the same standards that we expect on worthy Christian forums regarding things like the use of language, hate speech, anti-Christian messaging, or whatever, you will likely discover that eventually the link to your blog shown on your profile here may be removed and your ability to edit your profile in the future may be restricted.

Read the terms of service here to get a better idea of what is expected.

Maybe, but I am will be 65 in a few months. If I have anything worthwhile to say, that my years on Earth have taught me, maybe I should say them, while there is time!

I myself have been computing since since I bought my first used computer, in the late 70's.

800px-Apple_II_IMG_4212.jpg

No hard drive, no internet, not even a color monitor. So, having been at it for almost 40 years, I am fairly comfortable with it all, but I do not even try to keep up with the times. In fact, I am so technologically impaired and disinterested, that I do not use a cell phone, or even a land line phone for that matter. Email is my primary means of communication.

Thing is Kwik, there are not rules about what you have to do or should do, regarding all of these things. The world is not a one size fits all place, and in the U.S. at least, we still have a few choices, we should choose wisely and choose things that match our way of life, but there is no need to do what everybody else is doing.

Getting  old, is not a bad thing, but aging without maturing, is a different matter.

Does this computer still work Mega?

I believe you should have some way of communication for when you get sick or have to phone 911 ?

You are so very gifted in so many different ways that Kwik and I would love to learn more from you,you are very technical with how you fix things here for Worthy , remember that  world clock you set up one time?

I seen you do amazing things when you were going to do that Bible study...

How did you get that sarcasm emotion on your signature page?

Would you be able to make a different  one for me? Maybe Kwik wants one too?

Thanks brother

Omega as you can see on the Blog forum I attempted to post a "devotion" blog but I did something wrong. Just the title came out correctly. So in steps like

1. do this

2. do this

3. do this

How do I create a blog on Worthy? Do I need to have another blogging site to post what I want on Worthy?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
