Problems are always going to arise as long as we live on this earth.

yes -- and thank God we have a helper, the Shepherd of our soul !

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.
In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world

(John 16:33)

without His constant intercession, and without the renewal & regeneration by the Spirit He sent us, we would never overcome our issues & our problems.
ah!
but through Him, we can. and do, and will conquer all things - for He has conquered all things, and chosen us to take part with Him !

so -- you're admitting that there is something that must be overcome?

One can either focus on problems or focus on solutions.  God has provided us with solutions in Christ, therefore we are to focus on solutions.  The world already has problems enough of its own.  If Christians go to the world and say "We too are a part of the problem" we are not true witnesses. What the world needs to hear is that Christ is the answer to every problem, and Christians are a part of the solution.

"We too are a part of the problem"

is this your takeaway from confessing that you have sin? or that you are not yet perfected? that you have a sinful nature in the flesh that you must consider yourself dead to, having been crucified to it?
is your opinion that being forthright about these things is saying that you are "part of the problem" ?
that would be weird.

i would think, that both inward and outward deceit would be "part of the problem" but that honesty and integrity are things that are in fact "part of the solution" -- these things are found in Christ, and these things are inseparable from the truth. false hope is no hope at all.

in other words, i don't see that 'admitting you have problems' is tantamount to being 'part of the problem' - but i do see how 'pretending you don't have a problem' is 'part of the problem.'

what do you think of WOF, 'sinless perfectionism' & the 'prosperity gospel' movements, Ezra?
are you a proponent? or if not, what is the 'problem' with them?

Christ alone.

He alone is the one who '
has no problems' - this is the One upon whom we cast our own cares & problems, because we do have problems.

if we have no problems, we have no need of Him.
if we say we have no more need of Him, we have a problem.
((22))
(((888)))

if we 'have no problems' while we still exist in this imperfect flesh, it is not because those problems - of the mind, the body and the spirit - do not exist; it is because we have given these problems to Him, the One in whom we trust to deliver and preserve us. having consigned our problems to Him in trust does not mean we do not have any issues with our thinking, with our spirit, or with our flesh: it means we know the solution, and that solution is Jesus Christ.

Hello Post,

I hope your eye is Ok?

Talking about problems,  here is my answer for all my mental problems , I run straight to Jesus ~~

"In Christ Alone":emot-heartbeat:

In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song;
this Cornerstone, this solid Ground,
firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
when fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My Comforter, my All in All,
here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone! who took on flesh
Fulness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones he came to save:
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied -
For every sin on Him was laid;
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave he rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine -
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath.
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

I guess you might consider all sinful thinking as mental illness from God's perspective but I think that is a poor choice of words.  Sin is sin.  It is imperfection, or missing the mark in archery.  Transgression is breaking the law.  Iniquity is evil.

On the other hand some psychiatrists think Christians are delusional or at the very least we are not being realistic.  It is a matter of perspective.  From a biblical perspective the reasoning of men who have rejected God is darkened and futile.  So we may see some of them as the ones who are lost and unrealistic.  I think of the the Bible as the preferred source of truth.

Fresno Joe is spot on in regards to this subject:  Mat 15:18  ESV But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. 19  For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander.  20  These are what defile a person.

Rom 10:9  because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  10  For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

While I don't subscribe to WOF teachings, I also don't believe that Christians should be focused on sin. The fundamental principle is that you cannot hold two opposing thoughts at the same time. If your focus is on righteousness, then sin is out of the picture.  If your focus is on sin, then righteousness is out of the picture. Here is what Scripture tells us to do, so take this as God's prescription for your thought-life:

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, THINK ON THESE THINGS. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. (Phil 4:8.9)

aren't you accusing me right now Joe....

or just for me....

:D

Beloved, Thank You

The insolent smear me with lies, but with my whole heart I keep your precepts; their heart is unfeeling like fat, but I delight in your law. Psalms 119:69-70 (English Standard Version)

I Am Blessed

:emot-heartbeat:

Happiness

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. Psalms 1:1-3 (English Standard Version)

IS Good Mental Health

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock. Isaiah 26:3-4 (English Standard Version)

You Think....

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23 (English Standard Version)

:emot-heartbeat:

Wrong

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits. Proverbs 18:21 (English Standard Version)

Thinking

There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. Proverbs 12:18 (English Standard Version)

Leads To Accusing The Brethren

Whoever covers an offense seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates close friends. Proverbs 17:9 (English Standard Version)

And The Sisters Too

The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. Luke 6:45 (English Standard Version)

For Shame~!

But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. Colossians 3:8 (English Standard Version)

~

Be Blessed

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12 (English Standard Version)

Beloved Of The KING

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Colossians 3:1-4 (English Standard Version)

Love, Your Brother Joe

this is figurative language, Willa.

when's the last time a thought came out of that organ in the middle of your chest?

this passage is saying that a man's thinker has issues, not his ticker.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
