Mystery Babylon status rev.17

Revelation 17 gives a description of Mystery Babylon the great with her goldern cup and who the kings of the earth committed fornication and the inhabitants of the earth got drunk of the wine of her fornication. 

When did she appear in history and is she doing the above today.   Well, i think it is obvious she is in the world today as she would be destroyed in the end time scenario.  But how are the kings committing fornication and how are the inhabitants getting drunk with the wine of her fornication.   Is is spiritual seduction, lust for worldly goods and treasures or others.   what are your thoughts and some examples.

This woman is the one who is providing the world with all the goodies through commerce and trade.  She has lured everyone in through the love of mammon which she provides.  She is Babylon, and the kings are serving her because she can give them the material things which they desire.  Therefore these kings are not serving their people, but themselves through this woman. 

The inhabitants of the earth are also serving this woman, they all want what she can provide.  She has been here since the beginning, as a lure to all men, making them drunk with lusting after her delicacies. Her delicacies are anything that you can buy or sell. 

 

Revelation 17:16 And the ten horns (kings), which thou sawest upon the beast, These shall hate the whore (the woman), and shall make her desolate and naked  and shall eat her flesh, and burn her  with fire.

The ten kings shall make her whole system of trade and commerce bankrupt, and burn her with fire (war), to make ready for the new system (NWO)

Mystery Babylon is not an actual being, nor do I believe it is a single nation based on the chapter in question.  More than likely it is a reference to the earth itself.

Well this is the first time i have heard this take as you said      "More than likely it is a reference to the earth itself."     A more detail examination of the chapter would show that fornication was committed and the woman caused it.   The earth is the Lord and the fullness of it thereof.  Are you suggesting that the earth is a harlot ?.

The harlot is a symbolic reference in my opinion.  How do you arrive at the conclusion that the earth is the Lord?

Hi sister, good to hear from you again.    You said she has been here since the beginning, do you mean from the garden, the serpent.   Yes, i agree she is involved in all trade and commerce and man's desire to achieve, gain and profit will cause him to do some extraordinary things.  But will the kings and the inhabitants know that they are fornicating with this woman.   Fornication is an act that you perform and in this case the kings are knowingly and willfully engaging in fornication.   So they must be doing something to get something in return.  

I am really interested also in the inhabitants of the earth.  Does it mean all the people, even the saved or are the Lord's people exempted from this woman Golden cup and its content.

Hi warrior12, been reading your posts.  Nice work!

 Satan has been around forever, but I guess, after the flood, the kingdom of Babel is where it would of started, hence where the name "Babylon"derived from..meaning confusion, ...It's a city of confusion, like back then, only greater.

Babel morphed into the Kingdom of Egypt.  The woman riding the beast, is ruling over 7 heads, and the first head (kingdom) was Egypt where they started trading.

No they don't understand spiritual things, but God knows their hearts.  This is why he sent his son, to give light, and sent out the prophets and apostles to warn us all to come out of Babylon.  That realm.  If there is an inkling, or even a tiny spark for God, then it's up to us all, kings included to go to God's word and seek truth.  But they don't care for the things of God, only mammon.

If you go to this scripture in Revelation;

 Revelation 18:2   And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

  Revelation 18:3   For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.

Revelation 18:4   And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

....This tell us that God's people (believers) are still in Babylon and he's warning them to come out.

If they don't come out, then they have also been drinking of the cup the woman is giving the world, and will receive the cup of God's wrath as a consequence.

Many don't understand what it means to come out of Babylon.  Do we stop buying?  Do we not sell anything anymore?

No, it means do not labour for the material things that can destroy the soul, but labour for the love of the truth instead.  Once the heart is right with God, all those material things will not matter.  We will just buy what we need, and not everything we desire.  We sell to survive, and to help others,  not sell to accumulate more material wealth for ourselves.  The "Woman", makes us lust after these material things with what she can provide.

Esau was a good example.  He sold his birthright so he could eat that day.  He was only concerned with the flesh.  He regretted it later, and did not honour the deal he made with his brother Jacob, hating him for taking his inheritance, and sought to kill him instead.  It will be the same for us.  The world will do this to us.

The time will come when we have to make that final choice.  Say no to the flesh, and give up many things, including food in order to claim our inheritance.  The test will come when the Mark of the Beast is issued, and we will see who remains in Babylon and who departs even at the last warning.  These days will be upon us soon, so we must be prepared to let go of everything, if we havn't already done so and persevere, for there is a great King waiting for us at the other end.
