Do you mean they profess 'Prima Scriptura' but their practice is as the 'Dark Ages of Biblicism'?

Yes indeed. I meant that.

Won what. What's the prize? What's the contest. Light vs darkness. Have we so easily forgot, the victory was Calvary. It is finished. Raise up your head. (He's coming back to claim HIS prize)

Gary, thank you for your wise and godly comments, of course the victory was won at Calvary. However, looking at the "church" here in the south-west of the UK, it has abandoned most of the gospel; i.e. many / most so-called Christians over here in the UK cannot define the Trinity, therefore they have an inadequate view of the person and work of Christ, those being so, as the New Covenant is Trinitarian (i.e. God the Father makes a covenant with his Son mediated through the Holy Spirit, who imparts the righteousness of Christ to us and our sins to Christ re Hebrews 9:13-15), these people cannot accurately preach the gospel, therefore they focus instead upon their own personal experiences and personal feelings, rather than focus upon Trinity, Christ, New Covenant. It's so sad to see, but what calls itself the church is slipping deeper and deeper in apostasy. The fuel for this is GOD TV and the madness of the latest crazy trends and fads within evangelicalism and the charismatic churches.

The "winner" is whomever does not adore or confess "Mary" as the "Queen of Heaven", a "perpetual virgin", and a mediator between God and man.

The "winner" is whomever does not accept "baptismal regeneration" or "prayers for the dead".

The "winner" is whomever does not accept "transubstantiation".

The "winner" is whomever accepts "justification by Faith", alone.

The "winner" is whomever rejects the idea of "papal infallibility".

It is ironic, at the dawn of 500th anniversary of the Reformation, more and more reformed believers are flocking to the RCC and EOC which are Prima Scriptura and still in Dark Ages of Biblicalism.

Are you saying that the RCC and EOC are in "Biblicalism" in their objection to sola scriptura testing of all doctrine and practice?

As we enter the 500th year of the Protestant Reformation - is it time to declare its "demise" as Pope Francis announced a few years ago?

"We are of the conviction that the papacy is the seat of the true and real Antichrist" (Martin Luther).  D'Aubigné, b.6, ch. 9.

By contrast 500 years after the reformation started -- who do Lutherans agree with? Luther? or Pope Francis? What about other Protesant groups - can any of them really get behind Luther's statement?

In all fairness to Luther - the Popes had already been saying that same thing about each other - before Luther ever did. Maybe they were all wrong. OR where they?

What makes anyone think that they might have all been right?

What are your thoughts on this 500th anniversary year?

"Somewhere in Pope Francis’s office is a document that could alter the course of Christian history. It declares an end to hostilities between Catholics and Evangelicals and says the two traditions are now “united in mission because we are declaring the same Gospel”. The Holy Father is thinking of signing the text in 2017, the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, alongside Evangelical leaders representing roughly one in four Christians in the world today.

Francis is convinced that the Reformation is already over. He believes it ended in 1999, the year the Catholic Church and the Lutheran World Federation issued a joint declaration on justification, the doctrine at the heart of Luther’s protest."

I was in the Lutheran Church for a number of years and what I saw were basically two camps.

1. those that held loosely to Scripture, held to high church liturgy, emphasized Church politics etc., these had a tendency to go East or Rome.

2. those that held to Scripture and took seriously the Book of Concord (teachings of Luther, Melancthon and Chemnitz)...these would not and will not compromise with Rome even today.

So then those the take scripture seriously - not likely to abandon "sola scriptura" testing of all doctrine and tradition? Nice!

Nay, I meant they are in dark ages regarding The Bible and knowledge thereof in comparison to Protestants.

I am going to celebrate 500th Anniversary. To me what Luther achieved was same spirit Jesus had when he cleared the Temple. Jesus entered the Temple and found House of Prayer had become a house of profit, and he cleared it out. Luther in same way came against the Indulgence System of purchasing salvation and the merit of saints. This is only one example of Luther's contribution, had he only translated the New Testament into German we would have heard of him. But I think we should celebrate the Scriptures becoming available, the break from the Bablyonian Captivity, and the Gospel being set free.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
