I wonder how it makes the kids feel when all their friends are out trick or treating and having innocent fun, and they are sitting home. Its like making them stay home from a Christmas party because Santa is there.

Your argument or concerns are rooted out of compromise.  It is not innocent fun.

Children need to learn that Jesus isnt in any of these pagan festivals. When children are taught to love Jesus and not the world, they are okay with it. A parents responsibility is to raise their children in the word of God. Children need to be taught to not compromise and starting young is when we should do it. There will always be festivals by pagans till the very end of time.

So then what happens when the kids start growing up to be tweens and teens who want to go to parties where pot is smoked and beer and wine is drunk. The kids are experimenting with sex and all kinds of wicked things!  Why should we stop them? By your reasoning, we shouldnt because the world is doing it! They might get their feelings hurt? SO WHAT!

Which btw, they wont care if they are raised right from the beginning! We teach our children young to come out of the world and to not do as the world does. We teach our kids to resemble Christ and not the world. There are many liberties in a christians life and there is absolutely no reason to cave to pagan rituals.

Goodness is it time for the Halloween debate already. Its not even September yet.

How do you stand on the Xmass tree? Personally I think them to be okay, even encouraged if they are used  for fish farm habitat afterward.

Sorry world, I am tired weary and I came here  in hope of some comic relief.

Well reading over the post it looks like I am the only one here that does Halloween. I go trick or treating, I dress up as something, and I carve pumpkins. ( now this is the point in the post that you tell me how wrong I am and I'm going against the Bible) But that is okay cause you all told me the same thing when I said I read the Harry Potter books. So I'm cool with that.  I have come to an understanding about Halloween so I have no issues with it. If you take issue with it, then don't do it. Lock your doors, hide under your bed, do whatever you think is the right thing for you and your family to do. If it feels wrong for you don't do it.

Okay, well carry on with your debate. I will be back for the Christmas tree debate that I am sure will soon follow. :pumpkin:

All Halos Eve

...."Halloween is All-Hallows'-Eve which is the night-before-All-Saints'- Day. Some tell me they understand that Halloween pranks were a post-Reformation contribution to plague Catholics who kept the vigil of All Saints. Now it is possible that Halloween was abused for such a purpose; nevertheless, during all the Christian centuries up until the simplification of the Church calendar in 1956, it was a liturgical vigil in its own right and thus has a reason for being. Learning this, one pious lady of our acquaintance was heard to say: "Oh, I'm so glad to know that. I was about to write my congressman and suggest the whole thing be outlawed."

A celebration much like our Halloween, with bonfires and feasting on apples and nuts and harvest fruits, was part of pagan worship for centuries. The Britons celebrated in honor of their sun-god with bonfires, a tribute to the light that brought them abundant harvest. At the same time they saluted Samhain, their "lord of death," who was thought to gather together at last the souls of the year's dead which had been consigned to the bodies of animals in punishment for their sins. The Romans celebrated the same kind of festival at this time in honor of their goddess Pomona, a patroness of fruits and gardens. Whether the Church "baptized" these customs or chose this season for her feasts of the dead independent of them, their coincidence shows again how alike men are when they seek God and His ways, give praise, use the language of symbols to express the inexpressible."... All I know is I don't look quite so stupid eating wax candy corn, carefully biting the white tip off first, then the yellow mid body, and finally the orange base on Halloween as I do  eating it the rest of the year. So I kinda like halloween!

You can have fun with big red wax lips all year long, but Kandy Korn? Halloween!

That was uncalled for. I'm Lutheran and I love my church.

But it's alright ,to call the RCC and such like unsaved etc . I have been reading about the fact that much of reformed theology is based on a false idea promoted by Luther on salvation . I think since it changed the whole course of history, it is very serious . It is not personal, as the truth is not personal ,but  it is God we worship , not a man whatever is his name , Luther ,or Calvin ,or some other, like a Pope .

I am pointing more at false theology than you , as I have no axe to grind with you at all , and wish you well.

Well although some wished to get rid of the more amusing habits of OLDE customs , things like burnig witches, seemed to be very popular , until well after the 'reformation '.

People who are secure in Christ , can have an occasional glass of wine, or a treacled apple, without losing their salvation .:vader:

In other words, you're saying you agree w/me. I'm not sure I've ever heard of the "Christian" taliban.

Oh I do agree with you that it is not a good idea to ban things always ,but adapt them, to create a bit of fun ,avoiding extremes . American culture is full of modern 'paganism ' which is very popular ,and which has little merit .

I do not normally critcise individual religious groups unless to counter remarks .I never bring up the  subject ,but .....

I have met some very wonderful German Lutherans  :D.

Some would ban Christ too , if He was in front of them . -_-

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
