I also wanted to point out that strippers take their clothes off as they dance. These cheerleaders may not be wearing much but they do seem to keep on the clothes that they have on lol!

I agree that some people (not all) can turn sports into an idol. I do not agree that they are cults or occultic though. Our focus should be on God first, then family. If sports is something you enjoy, but do not focus on to the extent that it interfers with your walk with the Lord or your family, then I guess I do not see any problem with it.

Well....some of these "cheerleaders" have been known to perform at local dance clubs. So technically calling them strippers is not that far off!

My boy is 9. I could see him around cheer leaders like that. He'd be so appalled he'd be yelling things like "Oh, gross, she's about naked", "That's disgusting, can't you put some clothes on", "I'm gonna barf" etc... Maybe in a few years from now he'd get a kick out of it but for now to my boy's moral!

Bah! No it's not *grin* no more than it is in soccer or football...in fact, you usually get 5-10min penalty, plus a game misconduct for fighting...I've watched hockey my whole life, and have rarely seen a fight more often than once every four games I watch, if that.

Anyway...totally off-topic.

I totally agree sports can be an idol...people will give up more for football or hockey or even things like golf than most of us routinely give up for God...now there's a sad statement.

And on the topic of cheerleaders...whose idea was it to put squads in highschools? Back in the day at least they were a little more covered (though maybe it was considered just as uncovered then...suppose it's relative to our current perception of acceptable fashion)...nowadays...sheesh...my mom would've burnt outfits like those...and lots of those girls are only about fifteen!

Sports is just something we enjoy as a family. Its not anything that we would try to substitute for God. Of course God comes before everything else.

Maybe the truth about some cheerleaders doing after game dancing in clubs but to label them as strippers isn't fair MHO. And as far as hockey goes: Um..yeah there are always fights til blood.

let me ask you what do you expect when it is ok to walk around on the beach almost naked and no one says a thing but most men durel

what do you expect when there is no longer dress codes in school

what do you expect when even in churchs women and men wear shorts and halter tops on hot summer days and nights

what do you expect when you have tv shows allowing dress that is not dress at all but bits of cloth covering up what must be covered

what do you expect when a 10 12 year old looks 18 to 20 by dress and makeup

I like football and hockey because it's two groups of grown men fighting over either a ball or a puck. It is not my religion. If I miss the game, oh well. If I get to see a game, good. If my daughter wants to play with daddy when the game is on, daughter comes WAY ahead of the game. Why are the cheerleaders looking like streetwalkers, because that is what sells today. Not modesty or respect for yourself, but whatever gets people to spend their money on the product someone is selling. Look at the commercials and other advertisements today. It's all about sex.
