best gospel for unbelievers

Mathew is written to the disciples. John is written to the church ( even though it contains the famous John 3:16). Luke is far too long.

Mark is a gospel more for the unbeliever. It’s the shortest gospel and it’s straight to the point. This is Jesus the Son of God. This is what he came to do: to minister and to lay down his life as a sacrifice for sins. Then God has raised him from the dead and exalted him to sit at His own right hand.

A righteous man took on your guilt and rebellion so that you the guilty can go free. If you receive His sacrifice and give your heart to him, you will pass from death to life and receive the gift of eternal life. But if you refuse his sacrifice, who is going to pay for your sins? There is a justice system in the courts of heaven. God cannot just say I forgive you, sweep it under the rug, otherwise He would not be just.

What is your response?

Shalom @Worship Warriors,

Interesting topic.  I agree with you in a lot of ways.

Personally, I recommend them as follows:

  • Matthew - To non-believing Jews (as Matthew was)
  • Mark - To non-believers who are poor/suffering/desperate. Also to the half-Jew, half-Gentile (as Mark was!)
  • Luke - To non-believing Gentiles (as Luke was)
  • John - To believers, new and experienced.  But it's not my recommendation to non-believers, in general, as it's far too spiritual for your typical atheist.

Thankfully this is just my opinion though, so no needs to be offended :)

Love & Shalom

Hands down.......JOHN

Imo, This gospel shows Jesus as Lord better than the other three. And right off the bat in chapter one, it presents Jesus as God....no confusion.

John 17 around verse 28.. Jesus prayed for him to be in us and his salvation for all those who believe the message he gave his diciples to give to the world.

So to me personally. For His prayer to be a prayer to be answered for someone personally. They probably need to hear the diciples out and believe them..

I straight up do not believe in the Roman road, salvation fast food delivery service. I have seen way to many people locked in that man made comtrol system destroyed by their sin and completly powerless over tbeir flesh in that faith (Not all but many). Because it pretty much gets "some" people to disregard the diciples message and mis out on the power of Jesus's pray for us while he was here in the world.

I think you have to hear a person out before you can fully decide if you completley  believe them.

So in my, follow the instruction recieve the promise understandings. If you hear the diciples out and believe them. Jesus recorder his prayer and it is for you, and for your salvation.

And I know God answers Jesus's prayers. And that is the only prayer I have seen from him that is specifically, personally prayed for you or me for anyone to be given His Spirit and it for those that believes his diciples.

So if you want to reject this diciples message or that diciples message because they are not talking to you. Right there in John 17;28ish Jesus is talking to God about you if you want to be born again by his Spirit and have Christ in you, which is our hope to share in his glory. Jesus is telling you right there who to listen to and believe.

So many people just shuffle right past John 17:3 seeking eternal life by this formula or that formula, offering this hack into Christ and that hack into Christ, seeking to know a doctrin(teaching of man) instead of seeking to know God which is our eternal life. Christ in us making God our Father known to us.

It depends on the person.  For someone who is more of an artist, abstract thinker, or about relationships, I'd lean toward John.  For a more concrete  thinker, I'd probably go with one of the synoptic gospels. Mark's a solid choice for many.   I'd probably steer away from Matthew simply because it starts with genealogies that are likely relatively meaningless to most people.   Someone with a background from a mainline church might start connecting with Luke right away since most have heard the Christmas story but likely never read it all for themselves.    Also, Luke does seem to write for a Gentile audience who are not completely familiar with Jewish customs.    Overall, I'd just try to discern what would be best for a particular individual.

hahaha -  I just had to laugh that "Luke is too long" .....    LUKE'S PERFECT !  (as are all SCRIPTURE!)

Rather,   what CONVICTS the person,  believer OR unbeliever,  to anguish for their sinful life, to Godly sorrow,  and to repentance away from their selfish way of life ?   Artist through Zoologist,   Preacher or Teacher,   Banker or Carpenter,  Doctor or Nurse,  Tax Collector or Thief or Prostitute .......

Who will give up their way of life to live the Way God Says to - self-sacrificially ,  obediently, faithfully every day ?

Which 'Gospel' will they 'listen' (or see) to ,  if any , ever ?

Thanks.    I'm not sure where this comes from:   Good judgement comes from experience;  experience comes from bad judgement.

I've spent a lifetime doing a lot of teaching of various things in different contexts to a range of audiences and classes.  It sadly took me about 25 years to slowly figure out that the best thing I could do when teaching was not to come up with the best possible curriculum and teaching methods but rather to adapt what I was doing to each individual student to turn them into an independent learner.   It's not about maximizing the performance of a single method for a crowd.  It's about individually picking what methods to use for maximizing what each individual can do.  When I now hear some variation of "what is the best way to do ABC for people?", I realize what I often should be asking is "what is the best way to do ABC for a particular person?"

Righteous judgment, good judgment,  is only source from God ,  not from experience (worldly).

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
